    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/1204/nba.dirtiest.player/content.15.html

Sports Illustrated asked 146 NBA players who they think is the league’s dirtiest player, not including their teammates. Here are the results:

    ——————————————————————————————————

What I like about these lists is that the players vote for them.  This isn’t some outside source or media outlet looking onto the court, it’s the players that are actually on the court.

Remember last seasons top 10 dirtiest players:

    • 10.  Jeff Foster
    • 9.  Joel Pryzbilla
    • 8.  Kenyon Martin
    • 7.  Kendrick Perkins
    • 6.  Zaza Pachulia
    • 5.  Kobe Bryant
    • 4.  Anderson Varejao
    • 3.  Andres Nocioni
    • 2.  Ron Artest
    • 1.  Reggie Evans

    ——————————————————————————————————

    Now for this years.

    15.  Raja Bell

    14.  Jamaal Magloire

    Jamaal Magloire

    13.  Shane Battier

    Shane Battier

    12.  Dwight Howard

    11.  Ryan Hollins

    Ryan Hollins

    10.  Eduardo Najera

    9.  Anderson Varejao

    8.  Kurt Thomas

KG might be the biggest trash-talker, but I’m not sure he deserves #2 dirtiest player. Reggie Evans winning twice in a row is kind of fascinating, he could probably eat Ron Artest(oops I said his name). I’m actually surprised Blake Griffin didn’t make this list, a lot of players have complained about the elbows he throws while posterizing them.

Overall this is one of my favorite lists that can possibly be made, I enjoy a little trash-talking and bumping myself. I have respect for all of these guys, but there is a line in the sand that should never be crossed, there’s a difference between being a pestering beast and blatantly trying to take someone out.

I don’t know if people remember Chris Paul punching Julius Hodge in the nuts when he was at Wake.  I have disliked Chris Paul ever since then.  It’s one thing to play hard and have the occasional foul, it’s another thing to intentionally punch somebody in the groin, that just crosses the line.

How have Gerald Henderson or Battier been dirty this year?

SI has a heavy bias against Duke…they don’t even have Duke ranked in the top 25 next year…

Geralnd Henderson had his dirty play against Hansbrough 4 years ago.  Busted up his nose with his elbow which I’m sure everybody remembered.  I dunno what people where thinking when they said, "Oh, he was going for the ball."  No, he wasn’t.  Shane Battier has most definitely never been a dirty player, just a good, hard-nosed defender.

Chris Pauls grandfather had just been killed. The NC State fans were chanting "we killed your grandpa." So CP walks up to their best player on their home court and gives him the business…..my fave player since then.

It is not SI that is biased.  As it says on top of the article, these guys are voted on by a group of 146 current NBA players.  It’s not like SI made a list of who they THINK is dirty, they made a poll and current NBA players voted for these guys.

If your own co-workers are calling you dirty, then you most likely are.

you can’t let idiot fans chanting "we killed your grandpa" effect you on the court.  Was it a douche thing to chant?  Obviously yes, but don’t punch a guy in the nuts.

I agree with UNCbasketballbum. It was a horrible thing for fans to do, but you can’t just let it get in your head to the extent that you have to harm another player, that’s just wreckless.

Kevin Love a dirty player? Other than that one incident with Scola, he’s been a chior boy his whole playing career.

The only real dirty player on this list is Reggie Evans.

It wasn’t Julius Hodge who was chanting. He was punished for something that he couldn’t control. Chris Paul just got angry, and instead of challenging somebody like a man, he got behind Hodge and punched his nuts. Cheap shot.

Outside of that, I think Chris Paul is hilarious.

You guys are forgetting that defense is considered to be dirty play nowadays.  If you actually attempt to cover your man, you don’t deserve to be in the NBA.

I completely agree with IndianaBasketball. Love is by no means a dirty player. Scrappy, hard-nosed, tough? Absolutely. That doesn’t make him dirty. I guess certain players in the League think that just because they can’t box a guy out, it MUST mean he’s dirty. That’s just absurb. Same thing for players saying KG is dirty. Trash talking and swearing every other word only means you have a potty mouth, not that you’re dirty. Players should stop getting all butt-hurt.

Bruce Bowen had the distinction of being the dirtiest player in the NBA before he retired.  I dunno if he was ever really dirty, just a hard-nosed, in your face, chippy guy.

was ABSOLUTELY a dirty player and was rightfully peged as the dirtiest player in the league at the time. He may not of invented (but he perfected) the move where you close out and put your foot under where the shooter is going to land so that the shooter seriously messes up his ankle.

I don’t know why Anderson Varejao is on this list. Maybe it is because his follow co-workers are annoyed of his hustle and embarressing them  when he beats them to the ball, as he just wants the ball more?

does have a great motor and hustles alot. But it’s also true that he is a huge flopper and that could be considered part of being a dirty player.
