UNCbasketballbumParticipantI’ve been reading a lot about Andrew Wiggins recently. His scouting report on here says his first step is Jordanesque and rated his athleticism a 10. He’s the number one ranked sophomore in the nation. I you tubed a video of him and got an idea of his talents. Is the hype over Wiggins warranted?

CavsFan07ParticipantI watched him live at the Ironton Hoops Classic this year. He’s very VERY good for a sophomore, with elite athleticism (for his age group). However, minus his ability to slash, his offensive game seemed somewhat raw. The potential was there, as he hit a couple jumpers and occasionally showed the ability to drive to the basket… BUT… He’s not there yet.. Good news for him, if he doesn’t re-classify he’s looking at two more years of high school, and I have no doubt he’ll be top 2-3 in his class. Nonetheless, I still think Jabari Parker will be a more highly-rated recruit that is more pro-ready than Wiggins will be, but Wiggins will possess more athleticism and potential that could eventually surpass Jabari.

J_01ParticipantFrom what i’ve seen of Wiggins he has a more advanced offensive game than most give him credit for. For sure it is his athleticism is one of his biggest asset; long arms, quick first step and a high vertical but his offensive game also involves a good pull-up jumper, can hit the three and an under-rated handle. Not saying he doesn’t need to improve but he does show good mechanics which could if he worked on it could make him an elite wing player at both the college level and in the NBA. The thing about him though is that with all his talent he tends to dissapear and just spot up in the corner when he should be taking over the game. The talent is there and if he continues to work could be the best player regardless of class. Him and Jabari are probably the two best high school players right now and in a year you never know how much each can improve, only time will tell.
What i’m looking forward to is maybe in the future Jabari vs Andrew battling it out on the international level, USA vs Canada. Canada is coming up with better talent and is definetly not on the same level as the americans but they are getting better and maybe in the future we’ll see a North American Rivalry.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantWho do you guys think will be a better college and pro — Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker, or Shabazz Muhammad?

joecheck88ParticipantI’m all aboard the Andrew Wiggins bandwagon. He has the athleticism that Jabari Parker doesn’t, I think he is a better long range shooter than Muhammed and he is bigger. I think he is going to end up being 6 foot 9 with long arms. He obviously needs to keep improving his ball handling and shooting but he has all the attributes to be a great player in the league. I think Jabari Parker will be better in college though.

chocboywndrParticipantI think it depend what kind of player you like. Wiggins if he keeps progressing the way he has been is going to almost unstoppable in a Durant kind of way when it comes to scoring. With his athletic ability and thr fast rate at which his handle and jumpsot are improving I think he will best scorer and defender of the 3.
If you like a guy who can do everything Jabari will be your man. He wont be as athletic and flashy as Wiggins but he could be a Joe Johnson type player. Who can shoot, pass, rebound etc but is just not that elite athlete.
Shabazz to me isn’t as good as either of these guys but he has that relentless motor you can’t teach. He will give you everything he has got offensively to help you win. I haven’t seen a defensive motor the same way but that could come.
If I had to pick one, I would say Wiggins would be the best. Offensivley he will be a beast and he has shown an interest as he requested to play against Shabazz in hoop summit to play defense. That is rare from a 17 year old kid. Athletically he is off the charts, wing span is crazy, good head for the game, good demeanor, comes from good family. So it looks like he checks all the boxes.

ThepessimestParticipantIf all reports and posts are accurate, this kid is a 17 year old sophomore. Will he be 19 when he is a senior? I didn’t turn 19 until after my first year of college.

MalcolmxParticipantYeah he is 17. He just turned 17 though He got reclassed one time when he came from Canada down to US. He has an early Birthday that is what makes him look kind of old.The fact of the matter is he got reclassed just one time. And almost every elite player in 2014 will turn 17 this year as well. JABARI PARKER,DAKARI JOHNSON,TYUS JONES. and WAYNE SELDEN is turning 18 in SEPTEMBER.so that is the least of concerns.

goat27ParticipantI can’t wait to see him in Garnet and Gold.

OhCanada-ParticipantI think Wiggins either goes fo Kentucky or Florida State. His heart is with Florida State, but Im sure he knows Kentucky would ne a better program for his development offensively and marketability which would ultimately lead to a better off court career. A multimillion dollar shoe deal would be much more achievable coming out of a stellar freshman year with Kentucky.

HaleParticipantBelieve the hype, Wiggins is a stud. Someone already said that, but his offesnive game is a lot more advanced then most think, and he’s improved his jump shot quite a bit.
