I’ve finalized my first mock draft.

    1) CHA – Anthony Davis, PF/C, Kentucky

why? He brings energy, skill, size and length to an emotionally depleted Bobcat squad. He is a cornerstone you can build around.. Had Rod Higgins known he was going to be getting Anthony Davis this year, I’m guessing Mr. Biyombo would have gone to a different team last year.

    2) WAS- Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, SF, Kentucky

why? Everyone loves this guy, he plays with guts, he’s fearless, has a high IQ and is a weapon on the fast break. Could easily see him turning into a 16, 6, and 3 player within 1 year.

    3) NOR- Thomas Robinson, PF, Kansas

why? He’s hard-nosed, a physical specimen, and seems to be willing to improve. And as IndianaBasketball said, this guy is a blue-collar player. Plug him in there with Eric Gordon and potentially Chris Kaman and you got a couple of no nonsense type guys to build around.

    4) SAC- Harrison Barnes, SF, UNC

why? Whether the Kings decide to go with Thornton or Evans as their future 2 guard, they still have a huge hole to fill at small forward. Barnes is a good basketball player and has dealt with a lot of scrutiny. He may not be a real vocal guy, but I think he can step in right away and contribute.

    5) CLE- Bradley Beal, SG, Florida

why? Beal and Irving would make a fantastic future backcourt. Beal is a guy that has the size to post you up and the speed to blow by you off the drive. He may not be as efficient of a scorer quite yet but he’s got all the tools to be really good.

    6) TOR- Jeremy Lamb, SG, UCONN

why? DeRozan has never been able to shoot the ball, and the Raptors have had to continuously shuffle guys at the 3 spot. Solution: move DeMar to small forward and plug the long and versatile Lamb in at the 2.

    7) POR- Andre Drummond, C, UCONN

why? It’s amazing how a guy with this much skill level could drop this far but if he does, Portland would be thrilled. They have a few other needs but selecting a player with Drummond’s potential at this spot is a no-brainer, especially when they have no quality centers on their roster.

    8) UTA- Damian Lillard, PG, Weber State

why? Devin Harris is inconsistent, and plays out of control. Lillard has the ability to shoot the ball and create for others. Kendall Marshall wouldn’t fit in with this offense as well as Lillard would so thats why the Jazz swoop up this small school stud.

    9) DET- Jared Sullinger, PF, Ohio State

why? I hate seeing two slow-footed guys play next to each other but Greg Monroe and Jared Sullinger would easily contend for the most skilled frontcourts in the league. The Pistons need numerous adjustments to become competitive again so free agency has to be big as well.

    10) NOR- Terrence Jones, SF, Kentucky

why? Along with Robinson, brings intensity and toughness. Jones is very underrated in my opinion and has the ability, with his NBA body, to play immediately. Trevor Ariza’s tenure in the big easy may not be lasting too much longer.

    11) POR- Kendall Marshall, PG, UNC

why? I considered a shooting guard at this spot, since the majority of people believe Crawford will walk this offseason but Marshall would easily free up shots for Batum, Matthews and Aldridge as Feltons soon-to-be successor.

    12) MIL- Tyler Zeller, C, UNC

why? Ersan Ilyasova seems to be the future at the 4 for the Bucks, and their backcourt is stacked. Tobias Harris will more than likely be the small forward of the future but now that Bogut has departed, its time for Milwaukee to bring in a quality 5 again.

    13) UTA- Terrence Ross, SG, Washington

why? The Jazz have another solid draft and they get one of the most fluid players in the entire class. Burks was taken last year, but he’s not a shooter, and Hayward is more of a small forward. Getting a guy with this much talent at #13 is great.

    14) HOU- Perry Jones, SF/PF, Baylor

why? This pick could easily be way off based seeing that Houston picked Motiejunas and Parsons last year but a guy with Jones’ upside cant possibly slip past the watchful eye of Daryl Morey. Morey understands talent and a solid coach like Kevin McHale could greatly help Jones’ development in the paint.

    15) PHO- Austin Rivers, SG, Duke

why? Rivers brings unbelievable explosion to a somewhat disengaged Phoenix Suns backcourt. Nash and Redd are old, Shannon Brown is a solid guard off the bench, and Jared Dudley is more suited for the 3 spot once Grant Hill retires. Enter the energetic combo guard here.

    16) PHI- Moe Harkless, SF, St. John’s

why? The 76ers dont have any glaring needs but seeing that Iguodala has led the NBA in minutes per game on numerous occasions, I feel like it’s time to bring in a backup small forward that has length and range.

    17) HOU- Tony Wroten, PG, Washington

why? Goran Dragic is as good as gone this offseason, and Houston has one of the more inexplosive backcourts in the NBA. I know the Rockets are in need of a center but taking Meyers Leonard with this pick is a little high for a guy who wont be able to contribute for a few years.

    18) DAL- Quincy Miller, SF, Baylor

why? It’s almost time for the Mavs to rebuild. They have a good group of young guys in Beaubois, Jones, Mahinmi and Wright… they’re just missing a small forward to pair with the guys i just named. Miller is nice value here at 17.

    19) DEN- Dion Waiters, SG, Syracuse

why? Andre Miller won’t last forever, and Waiters provides something that Denver doesn’t have- a combo guard. Affalo and Lawson are both great starters but Waiters can take the place of the oft-injured Rudy Fernandez as the backup 2.

    20) BOS- Arnett Moultrie, PF, Mississippi State

why? Boston misses out on getting Rivers but this isn’t that bad of a consolation prize. Moultrie is a big who can stretch the court up to 18 feet and has a lot of skill in the post. Plus, a year under KG and this guy will be tough as nails.

    21) MEM- Marquis Teague, PG, Kentucky

why? The Grizz havent had a great backup point guard in a while now. Pargo isn’t the answer and Selby’s more of a 2 guard. Plus, they’re deep in the frontcourt with Arthur returning.

    22) ORL- Fab Melo, C, Syracuse

why? Dwight’s saga will hopefully be over this summer and the Magic will be in rebuild mode for a few years. Melo has a ton of potential and fits in great as a shot blocker amongst a bunch of shooters.

    23) ATL- John Henson, PF, North Carolina

why? Henson gives them a shot blocker off the bench that they dont have. Ivan Johnson and Zaza are the only bigs they have off the pine. Henson helps their 2nd unit out right away.

    24) BOS- Doron Lamb, SG, Kentucky

why? Ray’s career is coming to a close here shortly and he’s the only guard on the Celtics roster that can shoot… Lamb should find p.t. right away

    25) CLE- Draymond Green, SF, Michigan State

why? Green is the ultimate competitor. The guy will bring a winning mentality to a team that is in desperate need of a vocal leader.

    26) IND- Royce White, SF, Iowa State

why? White is an impressive prospect. He can give the Pacers a combo forward with a myriad of skills and presents a change of pace when he gets on the court

    27) MIA- Darius Miller, SF, Kentucky

why? The Heat need a wing off the bench. Battier and James Jones aren’t any good and Miller has the potential to be a great backup to Bron

    28) OKC- Tony Mitchell, SF, North Texas

why? The Thunder haven’t had a backup 3 in a long time and Mitchell is a strong bodied combo forward who can fill a much needed slot

    29) GS- Jeffery Taylor, SF, Vanderbilt

why? A perfect fit for a team that has 4 building blocks. Taylor reminds me of Matt Barnes. He’s not a phenomenal shooter but hes athletic, long and can make big plays on defense

    30) CHI- William Buford, SG, Ohio State

why? The Bulls need the predecessor to Rip Hamilton and they get one with this pure 2 guard

    meyers leonard?

t-rob and terrence jones are essentially the same player.

moe harkless doesn’t have any range

dallas is more likely to select a guy ready to compete, and not a project, they’re not rebuilding just yet. they’re in win-now mode.

tony mitchell is out the draft

if they heat are getting a wing, it better be john jenkins

I agreed with your picks but then your mock went off the wall at the end. Darius Miller going to the Heat because Shane Battier is no good? He’s still a lock down defender. Tony Mitchell at 28? Either this mock is old or you haven’t been following draft news, because he’s not declaring. William Buford at 30? Buford had a pretty disappointing year and he’s a senior with little upside. Also, where’s Evan Fournier and Andrew Nicholson? First 20 picks were good, last 10 were a hot mess.

    1) meyers leonard is a project, deandre jordan and hassan whiteside slipped into the 2nd round

    2) jones is a 3, robinsons a 4

    3) fair

    4) damn, i thought he was only returning had they hired fran fraschilla

    5) darius miller can still shoot and he provides a bit more size than jenkins, but jenkins would be a good pick too

why are you so certain founier’s a better pick at 30 than buford? also nicholsons no lock for the 1st round…battiers not offensively gifted enough for the Heat not to address some bench scoring

stop giving yourself points you fraud. buford is a great basketball player and can certainly go in the first, bulls don’t want to "stash" another player, its not like they’re rebuilding.

Fournier is younger, more athletic, has better size, better ball handling skills, can stash him away for a couple ways if they choose. It’s a moot point though because he’ll be off the board by then. Take my word for it, there is no way Buford will be a 1sr round pick.

^ Rebuilding teams don’t "stash" players; teams that don’t need immediate help at any postion with rookie play stash players.

Honestly, I don’t see how Arnett Moultrie is skipped on by Houston with our second 1st-round pick.  Also, I don’t think we’d go with P-Jones.  We’ve already got too many forwards for that.  I mean, we had to get rid of Terrence Williams in order to have some room.  With Chandler Parsons, Chase Budinger, Marcus Morris, Donatas Motiejunas, Luis Scola, and Patrick Patterson.  I don’t think we’d pull a Kahn and draft a player that isn’t needed.

oh yea, i forgot. im sure the bulls don’t need any help.

it’s not like they have to face the heat to get to the finals or anything.

it’s not like rip hamilton is injury prone or anything.

its not like they can possibly loose asik or anything

So, now for the midle part of the board, that’s suns, rockets, and… wolves.

I keep Ross at 13, he’s legit, really hope he won’t be gone.

For the rockets, the better guard available with the 1st pick and then a gamble, maybe a reach on a guy like waiters, a gamble on leonard.

I think, they’ll finally make the blockbuster trade they badly need.

For the wolves, let beasley go, i like the package of miller, high IQ, size, length, handle, post up(way better than PJ bust 3), shooting, point forward….

I think buford would be a good fit for the bulls or spurs.  while he had a disappointing season, led a young buckeyes team to final 4, while playing good team ball.  overall had a very solid career at osu.
