This guy is am akward looking dude. But his game is really impressive, and I am hoping to see him get a chance in the NBA. He could be a guy who can hit shots when open and learn to be a decent team defender.  I think a team should go after him in the second round. He has been a scorer all his career, and won the 3pt senior shootout.

He’s a good enough shooter someone will give him a shot, if not in the late 2nd round, then in Summer League.  He’s a tall 2 guard at the NBA level and I could see him being a Steve Novak or Jason Kapono type player as a best case.

I mean, last year Jon Diebler was picked so I don’t see why it’s not a possibility.  The thing is, the NBA cares a lot about athleticsim and Shurna just isn’t as athletic as other wings.  He has a great knack for scoring, but that seems more like the attribute set of an undrafted player who tries to scrape his way onto an NBA roster.

The NBA is willing to overlook athletic ability if you’re tall enough to get your shot off.  Deibler (6’6”), Novak (6’10”) and with Shurna at 6’8” I don’t think they’re as worried about his athletic ability than if he were 6’3” or 6’4”

He sounds awkward when he speaks too. Steve Novak is a good comparison but with better ball handling skills.

I see him in between Jason Kapono and Novak.  He has a very low release point on his jumper though, so he better be open because it will be tough for him to create space.  He’s a smart player though and I think he will find his way onto a roster.

I hope to see him as a shooter. I guy like that that has done so much for his program and had a great career, deserves it. You like to see guys like him succeed.

LOL let’s just compare John Shurna to every white NBA player from 6’3-610

^I wouldn’t compare him to Joe Alexander.  People are just comparing him to slower, unathletic good shooters.  Its just that most of the people who fit that description are white.  But I like the Jason Kapono comparison.

you can’t compare him to Jason Kapono, they just not on the same level as shooters, Sasha Pavlovic sound more suitable.

John Shurna will become a good player for some European club. He’s only 210 pounds so he doesn’t have the bulk to defend 4s nor does he have the athleticism to defend 3s. He has a jumper that seems to always find its way in but he has a low/awkward release that will make it difficult for him to make contested 3s. I don’t see NBA for Shurna, but I do see a good faceup European power forward.
