Memphis MadnessParticipantWho will win the scoring title? Right now Durant is winning it by one tenth of a point. But, if KD sits out the final game then Kobe only needs 34 to pass him.
If Durant plays and scores a decent amount then Kobe might need 40 or so to pass him. The Lakers are playing the Kings and they don’t like each other anyway so Kobe might start bombing away.
Either of these two can come away with the scoring title. The question is, who wants it more?
I would really like to see both guys take a final run at it and erupt for 50 or so, but that is unlikely.
So, who wins the scoring title?

IndianaBasketballParticipantAndrew Bynum and Pau Gasol might as well get ready to get rebounds tonight because Kobe is jackin’ em up. The scoring title is clearly one of the goals Kobe has set for himself this season.

Memphis MadnessParticipantThis is a very close race. I am not sure how close the George Gervin-David Thompson scoring race was but it also came down to the last day. This one might come down to just a few points.
I don’t think that they can tie though.

thatshitkrayParticipantI remember watching the Kings vs OKC game yesterday and KD had 20 points in the middle of the second quarter. I was just thinking "damnnnn Durant really wants his third in a row". I highly doubt he’ll sit the final game out.

thatshitkrayParticipantKD has 16 points in the first half in tonight’s game. I think he could wrap this up.

Memphis MadnessParticipantDurant scored 32 points tonight meaning that Kobe needs 38 points to pass him.
If Durant wins the scoring title he will be one of a few players to win at least 3 straight scoring titles. The others are George Mikan, Neil Johnston, Wilt Chamberlain, George Bob McAdoo, Gervin, and Michael Jordan.Wilt and MJ won a record 7 in a row. With Kobe getting older, KD could possibly make a run at that record. MJ has won a total of 10 scoring titles in his career and I can see KD making a solid run at that record too. Durant can score inside and out. His main opponent going forward will be LeBron James but I think he will be more concerned with winning titles, and perhaps a DPOY, or more MVP’s than scoring titles.
If Durant wins this scoring title and if his Thunder make a deep run, Durant will be the early favorite for the MVP award next year. I think LeBron gets it this year, and I doubt that he will win another one next year since it would give him 4 MVP’s in five years which I don’t think has ever been done before.

NbanflguyParticipantI am calling it right now. Kobe shoots 16/48 for a total of 40 points and the scoring title. Lakers lose by 30.
