Give me a prospect you’re either higher on or lower on than others.

A prospect I’m higher on than others is John Henson. His first two years at UNC were fairly unimpressive after being a highly touted prospect, but this past year he really impressed me. He’s a legit 6’10" with great length and good athleticism. He’s a terrific shot blocker, a pretty good post defender, and a good rebounder. Offensively he has a solid array of post moves and has shown the ability to knock down mid-range jumpers pretty consistently. He runs the floor well and has a good set of hands. He definitely needs to add weight, but I can see him gaining 15-20 lbs without losing any athleticism. I like him a lot as a prospect.

A prospect I’m lower on than others is Kendall Marshall. He does have terrific court vision and seems to be a good leader, but how far will that get him? He’s unathletic and is a poor outside shooter. He also isn’t a good defender. His inability to guard opposing PG’s and his lack of an outside shot are major red flags. Compare him to every other starting PG in the NBA. Where would he rank? Probably in the bottom 5. His upside is extremely limited. To me, he just isn’t the prospect others think he is. Too many red flags, most notably lack of athleticism, poor d, and poor outside shot. If I’m drafting a PG in the first round I’d much rather have Teague, Wroten, or Lillard. Their game translates much better to the NBA than Marshall’s.

I feel like I’m a little higher on Royce White (I’m from Minnesota) and also higher on Perry Jones III. After seeing him play once in high school I was hooked on him and became a big fan.

Too easy with lootery talents so :

I think I’m higher than lots of people on this site on ryan kelly… (but I was too last year on chandler parsons and carl landry a few years ago).

I don’t think he will be a great player but I think he should be a solid pro from his first minute if he’s given the chance to show how he can be useful (underrated dribbling and passing skills, shooting abilities). So ok he’s big, not very athletic, white, from Duke… but when you see players like ryan anderson, chandler parsons, or even steve novak and matt bonner, kyle singler (in europe and soon in detroit) I think he can find a niche and really help a team.

give me a late 2nde round and I take the risk on him (even if it means sending him in europe 1 year.

I’m a lot higher on Arnett Moultrie than most.  I like his combination of size and athleticism, especially as a Rockets fan, I would like for us to pick him up with one of our 1st round picks.  I’m also pretty high on Marquis Teague, I think he can turn out to be better than his brother and can probably be a Devin Harris (the good version) type of player in the future.  Meaning, a borderline all-star.  Bold but that’s who I’m high on.

I’m a lot lower on Thomas Robinson and Jared Sullinger than most.  They did well in college simply by using their strength to push around other bigs.  In the NBA, everybody is stronger and faster than you.  I just don’t see how Thomas Robinson and Jared Sullinger (who I think are about 6’7 – 6’8 rather than 6’9 or 6’10) will succeed in a bigger, faster, stronger environment.  Especially Jared Sullinger, he might even be 6’7, is less athletic and might be overweight, which is always a warning sign.

I’m with you re: Moultrie, I think he has a chance to be the top PF in this class (again, Davis and Drummond are C’s IMO for this exercise).

I also agree on T-Rob and Sullinger.

Some other ones. I’ll say I’m higher on Terrence Ross than most, I have him in the lottery.

I’m lower on Terrence Jones than most as I think he’s more like NBAdraft.net has him, if that, as compared to most putting him in the lottery.

AS for one more, I’ll say I like Tysawn Taylor more than most. If it wasn’t for a god awful shooting slump in the tourney he’d be considered a 1st round lock IMO. His scoring efficiency is sick. He does need to work on a few things, but a guy like Taylor would still be a nice find. Especially with his storng defense as well.

I’m higher then most on Harrison Barnes (probably pretty obvious), Jared Sullinger and Kendall Marshall. I’m lower then most people on Thomas Robinson. It’s that I don’t think he’ll be good but he’ll just be a solid to good starting PF imo. I’m really low on Austin Rivers. For next years class I’m definitely higher on Poythress then most, as well as Rodney Purvis and pretty low on Noel.

I’m higher on PJIII than most:

I think the NBA game with much better spacing will allow him to show his athleticism and scoring prowess.

I’m lower on Jeremy Lamb than most:

I think his size and ability to score were over rated at Uconn. I still haven’t seen him work hard to fight through screens on defense. I know he’s conserving energy for offense where he was the feature player last year, but I have no idea how he will do as an NBA player as he’ll likely never be relied on to score in the first couple years.

Yeah, he does play a bit like Jason Thompson and the odd thing is I’ve always been high on Jason Thompson.  I really think the Kings should start Cousins-Thompson-(Barnes or MKG)-Evans-Thomas.

I think Arnett Moultrie can possibly be the defensive anchor on a team because of the potential he has.  His length, strength, and athleticism is why I’m high on him.  I think the biggest difference between him and Jason Thompson is how hard he plays.  Moultrie plays really hard for someone with his size.

    High:

Thomas Robinson- I love the dude. He is very intense and was coached by Danny Manning. If Perry Jones had TRobs fire, he would be a top 2 pick. If he gets to 6’9” in shoes Ill take that. Karl Malone and Carols Boozer are 6’9”

Austin Rivers-People say he has tunnel vision but I dont want him as a PG. As a SG he can score. Jalil Hill said he wasnt as good as Kyrie Irving but is better then John Wall…I wouldnt go that far but he is good

Jon Jenkins-late 1st or early 2nd. Guys that can hit the 3 can always get a roster spot

Tyshawn Taylor-needs to cut down his TOs but he is athletic.

    Low:

    Andre Drummond- fire???

Harrison Barnes- prospects that wont penetrate from the wing always throws up red flags. talented he is but I would gamble elsewhere

Jeremy Lamb-long arms but a Rip Hamilton clone but I dont like drafting spot up shooters in lottery. can be decent player but I would draft Rivers and Beal first

    Arnett Moultrie-soft???

    Perry Jones-fire???

Kendall Marshall-slow, short arms and questionable shot…how is he going to succeed in the NBA

    Terrence Jones-lefty.

Jeffery Taylor-I think he is slow. real slow.

    Leonard Myers-soft???

     Higher:

    – Gilchrist: can’t get much highter than #2, but he’ll change the culture of whatever losing team he goes to

    – Bradley Beal: again, does everything you would want from your SG

    – Terrence Ross: play two positions, great shooter, fills a good role on a team

    – Kendall Marshall: always a role for a passer of his magnitude, even if its off the bench

    Lower:

Thomas Robinson: still feel he’s undersized and not skilled enough, his strenght and work ethic won’t work against bigger guys in the NBA

Perry Jones: No position, no passion to improve, always disappears

Terrence Jones: no position, can’t guard 3’s or 4’s, can’t shoot, just sucks IMO

Austin Rivers: good role player off the bench(Jamal Crawford), but doesn’t do much else but scores and he’s undersized IMO.

     Higher:

Austin Rivers – dude can score.  i hope he ends up with the suns.  he could put big numbers.

Perry Jones – most are low on him, but i think he played out of position in college.  i think he’s a natural 3 and will excel at that position and be a mismatch nightmare.

Tyler Zeller – gotta love his ability to run the floor.  has good hands and a great bball iq.

    Lower:

Jared Sullinger – after watching him against kansas, i think he’s going to struggle in the post against taller, more athletic guys.

Royce White – he’s had off the court issues.  no way he can play small forward at 260 lbs.  only lebron james can do that.

Fab Melo – yes, he’s a big body but he has no skills offensively.  defensively, he played a zone so i’m not quite sure how he’ll fair there either.  dasagna diop 2.0.

    Higher:

Tony Wroten Jr.- shows an extreme knack for getting to the basket and shooting is the main thing that is worked on in the NBA so that will improve

Terrence Jones- matchup nightmare and with the right coaching could be a Lamar odom type player

William Buford- very mature and good shooter, there is a spot for someone like that on any team

    Lower:

Jared Sullinger- will have trouble player with bigger players because of lack of athleticism, not similar to Love because Love could extend his range

Thomas Robinson- doesn’t seems to have a #2 pick ceiling, could be a Kris Humpheries type player

Harrison Barnes- can not create his own shot, so can not be a #1 option

     Higher:

Arnett Moultrie: Doesn’t always run the floor well or fight as well as he should for position down low, but he has superb defensive ability, is an excellent rebounder, and has lots of offensive potential.  He could easily be the 2nd best player in this draft

Also Will Barton, Bradley Beal, Jae Crowder, and Andrew Nicholson

    Lower:

Terrence Jones, Royce White, John Henson, Kendall Marshall

    High- Terrence Jones

I think everybody is incredibly low on Terrence Jones. If it were up to me, he would definitley be top 10 and possibly a top 5 pick. I believe that he has gained the same "bad attitude" label that DeMarcus Cousins had and still has. This made Cousins a 5th pick when he should have been #2. I think there is a big difference between a player who sometimes lets his emotions out on the court than someone who lets them out in the locker room. To me it just looks like Terrence Jones play with a chip on his shoulder and I think it is a good think personally. I think he wants to win more than anyone on the court and has that fire in his eye. Call it "bad attitude" if you want, but I’d be glad to get TJ in the late lottery if he is available. Steal of the draft.

    Honorable: Tony Wroten Jr.

    Low- Damian Lillard

I just do not think this guy is as great as everyone is making him out to be. To me, I see a late first-round pick. I just don’t think he is going to really be a point guard, and he was at Weber State last year. I’d consider him maybe, MAYBE mid-first. Lottery to me is crazy.

    High: Rivers

I say Rivers will be the 1st SG drafted over Beal and J.Lamb.  Once teams have him in for workouts and interviews, they will see he is the one player that has the most killer instincts and his mentality is NBA ready over any of the other SGs.

    Low: Marshall

Teams are going to love his PG skills, but his lack of shooting, scoring,  and speed is going to cost him. I say he is the player that is projected to be a lottery pick but has the highest chance to drop out of the lottery, and at least 2 other PGs gets picked before him.

I’m not saying that potential is the most important thing, because we ALL KNOW how GMs failed miserably drafting on potential alone, but I think it seems like this draft people are forgetting about potential completely. Tony Wroten in the late first is CRAZY to me. That kind of talent should definitley be lottery, reguardless of how well he played his freshman year. The crazy thing is that he was one of the most dominant freshman this year. Terrence Jones not top 10? Crazy. He’s right up there with MKG, MKG a little higher being a year younger.

Sorry Johnny Chill I am just laughing at your post because Kendall Marshall actually scored more than Austin Rivers the last time they met.  He was the one who took over the game.

High:  Kendall Marshall, Harrison Barnes, Terrance Jones, Anthony Davis (I know it doesn’t get better than 1 but this guy I think could go down as one of the best to play), Moe Harkless, Scott Machado

Low:  Tyler Zeller, Andre Drummond, Arnett Moultrie, Jeremy Lamb

Perry Jones: too much skill..prob a two year project.. dont think the attitude is going to be a problem as he grows up.

Terrance Jones: Strong, Mismatch waiting to happen, hustles hard and really produced when they called 0 plays for him at kentucky (unless the play broke down), caught a big head and a bad rep in the begining, but has taken steps to be more of a team player.

Jared Sullinger: I dont understnad why people compare him to carlos boozer, elton brand, and kevin love and theyn call him a bust…He will get his weight undercontrol.

Fab Melo: The combine is going to show that he is both athletic, ahead defensively, and not too far behind the higher ranked centers when it comes to offense.

Draymond Green: If he is athletic enough, he  will play hard, make his team better, have super long arms, bord and will take wings into the post and destroy them.

Doron Lamb: All he has done is average >45% shooting from three for his career where he took a team to the final four and won a national championship, he can play a little combo and knows his role.

Henry Sims: The last two G-town Big men have been quiet suprises in the league.. they must be doing something well. Simms may be the most effective passer of the group (that could have something to do with his teammates. he is legit 6’10” with a 7’4” winspan… if he can run up and down the floor, hustle and play a little D he could be a Turiaf like player in the league.

    Low on

John Henson: Not the player just the position he is projected to go in the draft. IMO you do not spend lottery picks on defensive specialists. take him after 18 and I like him again.

Thomas Robinson: One year wonder who could not get off the bench ahead of the Morris twins, neither of whom has really blown away the league this year. His body is way more developed that most of his competition and a lot of his game is power. Def has the NBA body, but is going to need to bring more/develop more moves because he is not Blake Griffin or Amare Stoudamire.

MKG: Similar to T-Rob in that he plays hard and is much more athletic/strong than his current competition. Is going to need to develop more skills, landing in the right situation will be key for him, hopefully he will be around other young talent he can grow with. Is a player that you want on your team just not sure you want him int he top 5.

Beal: not a big fan of when my # 1 SG prospect is undersized has their worst skill is their ball handling…THATS REALLY IMPORTANT. Eric Gordon has a really nice handle, people seem to overlook that when they make comps. He is going to be more of a project than people think(not saying he won’t make it). The team that picks him is probably to be in the lottery again the following year.

Zeller & Leonard: Zeller may be more polished on ofense, but he is also 2 years older, and aside from going to class, I don’t what they can do which Melo can’t. Additionally, melo has mad a greater jump from fresh to soph than either of them did. Not low on them as much as I think Melo should be right up with them. I wanna see who tests the best at the combine.

    Highs:

Terrance Jones- I think people will regret not taking him.

Royce White- reminds me of a Jamal Mashburn type (not as good) but can play the SF position prototypically.

Marquis Teague- Not so much high on him as to say, that I think he will go higher in the draft than most boards will place him.  The draft is devoid of good pgs.

Doron Lamb/John Jenkins- both will be easy first rounders.  Late in the draft, good teams will go after shooters.

Bradly Beal- I know he is sub 6-4 but the kid can rebound, uber-athletic, and can score.

Lillard- this kid is going to be beastly

Darius Miller- the ultimate, overlooked guy.  He is going to be solid.  I really think one of the good teams will take a chance on him in the late first round.  Good shooter, Good defender, Good rebounder, doesn’t turn the ball over, etc… He is just good.  Not great, but good.

    Lows:

Tyler Zeller- I think he’ll be a solid rebounder, but he really isn’t all that athletic when compared to PF’s in the NBA

Harrison Barnes- Not to say that he is bad, but he clearly has not lived up to all the hype.  Will be a top 12 pick, should be somewhere between 17-22.

TRob- I love Trob’s heart and drive, but he wills struggle against top flight PF’s in the league in his 1st 2 seasons in the league.  I do believe he will be a beast later in his career.

Sully- really not impressed.  reminds me too much of Big Baby.  I remember watching Glenn Davis and LSU, and the similarities are creepy.

    —————————————————————————————————————-

Anthony Davis/ MKG- really high on these two, but considering they’re top 3 can’t really say I’m higher than others.

There is not a chance Sims is a better passer than Monroe.

Monroe is probably one of the 3 to 5 best passing centers to enter the league in the last 20 or so years.

He is an interesting guy though, but i’m concerned about his lack of rebounding with all that size.
