I have been on this kid since the start of the season and I think hes definitely worth a mid 2nd round pick.

    http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/04/15/norfolk-state-hero-kyle-oquinn-wins-mvp-at-portsmouth-invitational/

After his team’s enormous upset of second-seeded Missouri in the NCAA tournament, Kyle O’Quinn gave one of the most heartfelt post-game interviews you’ll see.

The kid who got just one scholarship offer, from Norfolk State, earned his moment in the spotlight with 26 points and 14 rebounds against Missouri and, if this past week was any indication, he’s not done yet.

At the Portsmouth Invitational, an annual exposure tournament for college seniors, O’Quinn won the MVP award, going for eight points, 12 rebounds, and six blocks in a championship game loss on Saturday.

O’Quinn is vying for a spot in the NBA and is projected to go in the late second round.

If he continues to build muscle and tone up, as well as develop his skills, he has the size at 6-10, 240 pounds, to perhaps be a contributor at the NBA level.

The Queens, N.Y., native averaged 15.9 points and 10.4 rebounds per game in his senior year at Norfolk State.

The Portsmouth Invitational is flooded with NBA and European scouts who are looking for talent to fill their rosters. Temple guard Juan Fernandez signed a deal with an Italian club after playing at Portsmouth this week, a deal reportedly worth somewhere in the “high six figures.”

If O’Quinn is not drafted, he should have options overseas or perhaps in the NBA D-League. He is signed with agent Alberto Ebanks, who also represents former Tennessee forward Scotty Hopson and former Cincinnati one-and-doner Lance Stephenson.

All of these guys improved their stock but I think Green, Gilchrist and Sanders improved their stock the most.

    – What? There not even comparable. Quinn was guy who played college ball at a small school, while Blair is a kid who was top 100 recruit who went to Pittsburgh without any ACL’s, causing him to drop. To say they won’t make the mistake is wrong. I think he’s a undrafted guy who a team who needs a 3rd PF will try to sign.

I really hope Kyle O’Quinn gets drafted and makes the most of it. He’s a big man who really knows how to get the ball in the hoop. Not always pretty but it gets done.. He has a smooth powerful type of athleticism… definitely has range and the ability to create space for himself too… I’d love for even my favorite team (the wolves who are absolutely loaded at the PF spot) to bring him on if only to help him develop.. Seems like the type of player that can come in at first and do the dirty work, and maybe in a couple years his offense game will get more polish and he could break out.. He has the size/wingspan, athleticism, skills and drive to stick around in the league…

Kyle O’ Quinn will be drafted, I’m very confident of that. He has good size at 6-10 240 and enough athleticism to play both the center and power forward positions. Probably his best asset for the next level is his defensive ability. He has a 7 foot 5 wingspan which allows him to block shots (2.7 per game) and alter many more. His defensive ability is highlighted by the fact he won back to back defensive conference player of the year awards. His offense has room to improve, he can both post up and spot up, but he still needs some work. Outplaying potential draftee Ricardo Ratcliffe significantly in the NCAA Tournament and now winning the PIT MVP cements him as a draft pick, probably as a mid 2nd rounder.

His size is very impressive. 6’10 with a 7’5 wingspan.

I think he can make an NBA team as a backup big man next season.

Somebody had a mock draft with O’Quinn going to the Knicks in the second round.Nice idea after all he is a native New Yorker.
