UNCbasketballbumParticipantI am amazed at how well Chicago has played with Derrick Rose being out so much. Richard Hamilton hasn’t been healthy all year either. The Bulls play lockdown D, they play hard and they play together. Thibs was the defensive mastermind for the 2008 Celtics who were the best defensive team in the NBA. Is Tom Thibodeau the best coach in the league?

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantHe should be coach of the year because he is the coach of the team with the best record but doesn’t have the team with the best players. That is what should get you COY. Plus all the injuries, over two years the Bulls never had a 30 game stretch at full force.

B-ball fanParticipantHe is one of them. He is one of those coaches who seem to be both a great Xs and Os coach, which he is best known for, and a great motivator. The Bulls have suffered injuries and do not have overwhelming talent, but they play as hard as any team in the league and seem very consistent, not falling into major slumps the way most talented teams, such as the Heat, Celtics, and Magic, occasionally do.

Meditated StatesParticipantThibbs is doing well but he been a head coach what 2 years? Too soon and no rings for that. Like him a lot as a coach though. Done a great job this year. Pop is a hell of a coach.

fliptonnParticipanttheres something to be said about longevity. not questioning thibodeau’s record but popovich has done it for years. even mike james still calls up popovich for advice. he’s missed the playoff’s hes made the playoffs 13 times in the last 13 years, every year hes been a coach for an entire season, and won 4 nba championships. this year hes taken an "old" spurs team with not nearly as much talent as i would say MOST of the teams in the league to a potential #1 seed in the west. his system isolates the post better than any team and treats his job like a business. class act

kngojcParticipantWhen you can get a player like Kyle Korver to buy into a defensive scheme… You know you’re doing something right as a head coach.

sammybuckeye13ParticipantThe Spurs won a title with Brent Barry, Bruce Bowen and Devin Brown as their 4th, 5th and 6th leading scorers.
Barry and Bowen as top scorers goes without saying — I don’t even know who Devin Brown is.

Moon RiverParticipantNo NBA coach has ever won coach of the year in consecutive years. I think Thibs deserves it though.

MKG_AllDayParticipantDoc Rivers could be the best coach if he wins a few more championships but has to be Thibs b/c he led the team through Rose’s injuries
