WizardofOzParticipantHe’s probably an unknown around these parts, but boy has this kid been improving. After a rookie season where he was basically irrelevant, he’s become the starter after the JaVale McGee trade and Nene got hurt, and he’s been filling in nicely. He’s been averaging 13.9 pts, 6.9 rebs, and 1.2 blks over the last 10 games, and put up 24 pts, 13 rebs, and 4 blks tonight. He has that Len Bias soft touch around the rim with either hand, has a solid jumpshot, and is great at defending the PNR. He has the hook shot w/ either hand down pat, and he’s a very physical defender. He’s a good shot-blocker and played great D on Dwight that last time they played.
Anyone else here seen him play? What kind of player do you think he can become? I think he can become a good starter.

B FreeParticipantNo one is an unknown to most people on this site all most of us do, sadly, is look up players and prospects and stats and watch and judge, then right about it here. But I do like him, I was interested when you guys drafted him becuase of his size and skill set.

JoeWolf1Len Bias is high praise, I don’t watch the Wiz a whole lot but I have noticed his increased production. I was under the impression he was pretty raw. Has he improved greatly since his rookie year?

WizardofOzParticipant^^Not comparing them as players, just comparing one facet of their game – touch.

goneParticipantHe reminds me of Pekovic with a better touch around the rim. Still fouls a lot and is pretty raw

JunkYardDogParticipanthappy to see someone else high on this young kid !!! I began to watch him when he was playing for cholet in france… his progress are astonishing (thanks to the french national team last summer and his time in spain during the lockout which gave him some confidence) !
he still has that great body (strength, explosiveness) allowing him to be a good defensive/rebounding presence but he also has some really nice touch around the rim (left and right) .
he could become a solid starter but I see him more as a PF than a C.

JunkYardDogParticipant@WizKid :
pekovic is stronger and bigger but seraphin is so much more explosive…. there is absolutely no comparison on the physical point.
he still got some fouls issue but he’s not raw at all. He has a good improving mid range game and some surprising very effective moves inside (left AND right).

JoeWolf1Gotcha, but I wasn’t being sarcastic with the rest of my post. He must have put in some serious work, with the Wiz being so bad and not being in my region I don’t get to watch them much. You think he’s a legit starter for a good team (improved Wizards or another legit playoff team) some day?

For_Never_EverParticipantHow tall is he ? I know he is a PF but he looks short for his position. I like it when my team the players have good size for their position.

apb540ParticipantI like Kevin Seraphin. He’s got a real solid all-around game to go with some size at the power forward/center position. he destroyed the Sixers a few weeks back with 14, 7, 3 and 2 blocks on 7-11 shooting and good D.

WizardofOzParticipantHe was measured 6’9" in shoes w/ a 7’3" wingspan and 9’1" standing reach. He’s actually basically played all of his minutes at C, and his skills are more suited to that position IMO. His faceup game still isn’t that good yeat, and he’s better defending centers.

ghettosermonParticipantThe Wizards definitely have received a lot of flack for front office moves, but not sure if people realize that the Wizards traded the rights of international player Vladamir Veremeenko who will never play in this league for 2 promising first rounders Kevin Seraphin and Chris Singleton. Turning the draft rights of a guy who will never make the league for two first rounder starters is pretty genius if you ask me.

PrecociousNeophyteParticipantHe is actually one of my favorite players in the NBA behind Paul George right now. I really like he game, I think in the future he will be able to put up big points and rebounds as he gains more experience in the league. He is a pretty large human, very tough to move under the basket and always looks for someone to box out. Whenever the Wizards are on T.V. I try to watch them just because of Seraphin because he is getting more minutes now. I think he started playing basketball when he was like 15 or something so the progress he has made has been really impressive. Pretty athletic player too considering how big he is and has the ability to block shots. I really like his potential and think he has a very bright future.

ghettosermonParticipantWizards Receive:
Kevin Seraphin
Kirk Hinrich
Chicago Receives:
Vladamir Veremeenko
———————-
Wizards Receive:
Jordan Crawford
Chris Singleton
Atlanta Receives:
Kirk Hinrich
Wizards Receive:

So if you track the trades Wizards turned Veremeenko into 3 young first rounders all who are contributors, again for a guy who won’t play in the league, smart manuevering. Even got Mo Evans out of it, not that it means anything.

JordoParticipantCrazy how Serephin has shown more progress than McGee and McGee has been in the league longer. McGee became a starter last season and has shown very little progress while Kevin has played garbage minutes, started playing ball at 14 and already has better fundamentals. Left-Right Hook shot, PnR Defense, Mid range jumper improving, making FTs and these are all things McGee lacked. Kevin has a bright future and he seems to already picking up things from Nene like passing in the post, finding open guys when he doesn’t have a clean look. Glad us Wizards fans can get some type of hope out of this season.

TRC1991Participantthe only question is, with a crowded frontcourt, where to vesely, booker, blatche, nene, and rashard lewis all fit in for next season assuming seraphin has locked down a starting gig for next year

BigDParticipantWhen this guy was drafted people scouts were saying he could be a real diamond in the rough, but was very raw and was expected to go back to Europe for a few years, he’s contributing much sooner than what i thought he would, hope he can keep it up.

JunkYardDogParticipanthis short stint with the french national team this summer and then with Caja Laboral in Vitoria helps him a lot to develop his understanding of the game (thank you Duško Ivanović) and his self confidence. He’s now very fluide and less hesitant in offense.
I think he could become a bigger better defensive version of brandon bass. Blatche is now on his way out (amnesty…), néné should be the starting center with vesely at 4 and booker with seraphin coming from the bench.

WizardofOzParticipantIIRC, OKC was going to take him @ #18 if the Wizards didn’t draft him right before their pick.

YurpleHazEParticipantThe fact he can finish with both hands is what really impresses me…
