don042488ParticipantI’ve seen a few post about Lance Stephenson, and most of it was negative..I’m a fellow New Yorker, from the Bronx, and I can tell u Lance Stephenson’s aggressiveness, take the game over mentality, and confident, but sometimes cocky attitude, is a New York thing, especially from a baller…It’s like when your from New York, all those characteristics are in u…I can go on the record and say, New Yorkers can sometimes get cocky and full of themselves, are competitive at everything, we hate to lose, we like all the attention on us, so at times depending on what it is, were very selfish, and etc…Michael Jordan has those same characteristics, and u know why? Because he’s from Brooklyn…He may have not lived there long, but the New York characteristics are in him…And MJ still came out being the best player on the planet and has 6 Championship rings…Best Case Scenario: Lance taps into his potential and become the 2nd coming of Paul Pierce…Worst Case Scenario: Mr. Born Ready becomes the next Bonzi Wells, a big bodied, strong talented forward/shooting guard, who could score with the best of them, but his talent never really took off because of his off the court issues and poor attitude…I have a great feeling, Lance will go to Arizona, mature under head coach, Sean Miller, and become a scoring machine in the NBA

bornreadyParticipantThree Words
“Perennial All-Star”
Has all the tools to be great. If he sures his jumper. And his next coach pushes him. Has the chance to be an undersized Lebron. I’ve seen him play. I witnessed him kill Jamal Crawford as a youngin. Will be a stud. I’m a northeast hoops guy from Philly. Would love to see him at St. Johns. It would be intriguing at KU though1 Wall
2 Meeks
3 Stephenson
4 Patterson
5 CousinsKey subs,
Bledsoe, stevenson, orton3 JUCO transfers. If Cal can get Lance they will be in the Final Four.
As a man studying to be an agent. I would love to rep this kid in a year.0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/07/2009 - 5:34am #148598

lakanoParticipantNew York easily puts out the most and best guards in the country year after year. Think about all the NCAA teams that have a New Yorker at the point.
Just a few off hand:(Not to mention those already playing professionally)
AJ Price-UConn
Cory Fisher-Villanova
Kemba Walker- UConn
Lavance Fields-Pittsburgh
Edgar Sosa-Louisville
Jonny Flynn-Syracuse
Darryl Bryant-West Virginia0- Posted on: Thu, 05/07/2009 - 7:46am #148611
Hoop FreakZParticipantI thought we are talking NYC players, not players from the state of New York

espn365ParticipantBornready, If Kentucky has that starting 5 next year they probably don’t lose a game. It will be the most talented group of players on a team with experience in a long time. Sadly don’t see it happening though.

jsdghifadgfuiogjkaghsdauigParticipantDo u really think a Bonzi Wells or a Latreel Sprewell (i think i spelt his name wrong lol)? Jw…bonzi is a good comparison.
Best Case: Spree?
Worst Case: Wells?Idk man! Fill me in guys!

lakanoParticipantThat would take out:
Jonny Flynn
AJ Price(who I think is from Long Island)0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/07/2009 - 9:20am #148639
joecheck88Participantthe ny attitude thing is true but it either helps or hurts. it helped stephon marbury but now that he is declining it kills him. i think it hurts lance in the long run too. he is talented but will have to find a niche in college and the league, he wont be the star and i dont think he can handle that.

NYKnicksuperFanParticipantand while i agree with don that stephenson is just playgroud swag, marbury, telfair, and artest all had nyc street swag, people thought that they were harmless and just cocky without having actual character flaws…boy were they wrong. Lance could end up heading down that road

UdAmWaIvLsD-CatsParticipantA St. John’s official said today that they are out of the race for Stephenson, so he won’t be headed there. As stated before he is still waiting between AZ and Memphis. Due to this NYC selfishness attitude, he would not do as well at Arizona as he would at Memphis. Josh Pastner is young and pretty much alone out there in Tennessee, he could use a player ready to jump in and take control of the game. AZ would be better overall for his pro career as well as a better team next year (with or without Lance) but Lance would enjoy the attention at Memphis. He wouldn’t have to worry about Solomon Hill and Kyryl stealing any thunder. Something tells me he’ll go Memphis by the end of the week, have one Jared Bayless like season and bounce for the NBA. He would do wonders for Josh Pastner’s career, prevent a reconstruction year for Memphis, and have all the limited attention Memphis will get next season.

QHaynes123My NYC brutha…i live in Brooklyn and i see the same thing….I think Lance could do damage in college and in the L

JNixonParticipantNo question about it.But he has a temper that Telfair and Marbury dont really have (to his extent)..it can also be argued that his on floor body language isnt as bad as Artest’s either (in terms of lashing out on teammates for his own mistakes and complaining about everything). He reminds me alot of Ron Artest as a matter of fact, except he doesnt compete as hard on defense. But in terms of talent, body type, and character they are alot alike. If he goes 2 st. johns like Artest, expect to hear the comparison over and over again

drew2288ParticipantMe also being a new yorker Farrockaway i total agree with alot of towners just does not understand that. you always see a top prospect from NY show success early in college because level of play in high especially in the CHSAA. Also Stephson will be the best freshmen and i think he better then the Henry kid. Also Jordan is not a New Yorker we can not claim him.

UdAmWaIvLsD-CatsParticipant“We are totally out. Not pursuing [him] anymore,” a source within the St. John’s program said.

deuce4offDon you’re one silly @ss dude….don’t ever compare anyone’s competitiveness or killer instincts to those of MJ. And to think Jordan claims NY you must be f*cking stupider than you are silly.

UdAmWaIvLsD-CatsParticipantHow is that a productive comment to the topic? MJ was BORN in Brooklyn NYC, moved to North Carolina as a Toddler. Don’t call someone out when YOU don’t know wtf you’re talking about. I said “good day, sir”

don042488ParticipantNot say Jordan claims NYC, but the characteristics are in him…If Jordan was born in Wisconsin, no offense to anyone, I don’t think he would have the same personality
