nick5354ParticipantI was just reading the speculation about the Ellis to magic rumors and just wondered what would happen if this actually happened. Hear me out, I know chances are slim is this deal actually going through, but I was wondering what would happen if it did.
Of course another team will have to get on board as Magic have no bigs for Golden State they would want to trade. I think Utah are the team to get involved here. They have a massive log jam in bigs. Jefferson is having a great year, as to is Millsap. Then you have their two young bigs in Favors and Kanter. Now you have the problem of working out who they will try to trade to the Golden State. Favors is the safe guy here. Jefferson and Millsap are not old players either. Both are 27 years old. Kanter is there 3rd overall pick in last years draft. I am very skeptical on him, even though he is averaging 5 boards on 14 mins.
In return I would sent Neslon over to Utah which add a nice PG rotation with Harris. This would also free up more mintues to Favors which i think will take this oppuntity. Burks is showing that he can be a good player, and Haywood is looking to be very nice. Combine all this with strong bigs and C.J Miles who is showing he can play this season.
Utah get the short stick in this situation (mostly one team does), so you could expect them to get another player in this deal.
This also gives Thompson more mintues at SG for the warriors. People were starting to get short with him early in the season, however, he has shown a great shooting touch that we all knew he had. He also has great size.
I actually think this works out well for all teams.

Mr. 19134ParticipantI don’t understand how the Magic fit into your trade scenario I only heard you mention Jameer Nelson. So you think Ellis goes to the Magic for Nelson who get’s shipped to the Jazz so they can send X player to G.S.?
I was thinking of a straight up deal for Jefferson and Ellis would be a good swap.

nick5354ParticipantOh I was focusing on the other teams as it is the Magic who are looking to get Ellis. So therefore they are more willing to make it a deal. Just showing why utah and Golden state should do this trade.

LOFTYParticipant@mr 19134 i agree utah wold like the jefferson ellis trade MUCH better. they wouldnt consider nelson for jefferson.

burningfloodParticipantI wouldn’t want to do a Jefferson for Ellis. If the offer were Ellis for Favors, though, I’d do it in a heartbeat.
I wish we could do the Beasley-Pekovic-Derrick Williams for Ellis trade that was rumored earlier, but then again I’m a complete homer.
There’s nothing that the Magic have that the Warriors would want with the exception of Dwight Howard.

Sam_HinkieParticipantWhy did the Magic trade Gortat, VC, Pietrus and 1st round pick for Turkoglu, Earl Clark and J Rich …
In hindsight, could have done much better trading those guys and that pick. Probably could’ve landed ellis for Gortat straight up since Mark Jackson wants a legit center so badly.

Mr. 19134ParticipantNobody knew how good Gortat really was until he got minutes in Phoenix alongside Nash. His value wasn’t anywhere near where it is now last year.
And the Magic did that trade to unload Carter and his contract/attitude and bring Hedo back to Orlando to team with Dwight again plus they thought J.Rich was gonna be like a younger version of Carter who can shoot 3’s and get out in transition. Plus J. Rich is a better defender then Carter. From a personell standpoint the trade made sense for the Magic at the time who thought by bring a few more quality starters in that Dwight could lead them to the finals again.

tonyl33ParticipantA mix of players with Ellis for B easy, Darko, and Ellignton would be a good trade. GS would get another potential star player in B Easy and a little more defense with B Easy and Darko. Don’t forget Darko was among the shot blockers last year. Wolves get a solid 2 player in Ellis.
GS- Curry, Wright, Beasley, Lee, Darko
Wolves – Rubio, Ellis, Johnson, Love, Pek.

burningfloodParticipantNo one’s falling over to pick up Darko and the multiple years left on his contract. Beasley is not worth Ellis, and Ellington isn’t exactly a stellar prospect either.
And why would Golden State want Al Jefferson? He’s a black hole. He doesn’t play defense, he doesn’t rebound that well for a big, and he’s not efficient in the post (even though his post moves sure look nice). Favors, on the other hand, is a great young prospect.
I challenge someone to tell me who the Magic have (besides Dwight) who Golden State would want. Or really, who the Magic have (besides Dwight) that any team would want.
