theres a rumor that brook lopez could be traded for monta ellis. as a nets fan i actually like the trade but im assuming the warriors would want marshon brooks also. can anyone think of a scenario where this works?

They were just using Lopez as the big chip to land Howard, now they’re ready to deal him for an under sized scorer, when they have Deron Williams and a cheap scorer in Brooks and a sharp shooter in Morrow…This sounds like a rumor at best but a bad one unless its part of something thing Greater, where they get a C back, unless they are convinced they are signing Dwight Howard outright…A big 3 of Williams, Ellis and Howard sounds flawed in so many ways…They seem to be better served(The Nets) trading Lopez a young stretch Pf to play off Howard

Lopez and Morrow for Bargnani and Derezon sounds like a nice deal …The Raps have their C and a deadly shooter to pair with Davis/Valencunas and The upcoming draft pick Harrison Barnes or Jeremy Lamb

The Nets get a 20 point scoring Stretch 4 in the mold of Rashad Lewis, and they add Derezon at Sf to play a Richard Jefferson role, while allowing Brooks to assume the role of Sg

Nets-D.Williams-Brooks-Derezon-Bargnani-Howard-D.James and Vets on the bench

    Raptors-Calderon-Morrow-Barnes-Valencunas/Davis-Lopez-Bayless and A.Johnson on the bench…

was just playing around with trade machine and I figured they could do Ellis and Biedrins for Lopez, Brooks, Okur, James, Petro and picks or just Ellis for Lopez, Brooks, James, Petro, and picks.

How as a Nets fan do you like this trade? If they do that then they have pretty much given up on trading for Howard.

For the Warriors, I love Ellis, but I would do that trade. Brooks for Ellis, but I dont want Marshon Brooks, boy is a chucker.

I actually like Scarecrows idea with the Raptors, though I doubt Derozan would be a part of it. If the Nets are truelly confident they can get Howard, Bargnani would be an amazing fit. He has never had a legit C to play next to, and would be a great shooter to pair with DWill and Howard. Throw in a top 10 draft pick, Brooks, Morrow, and Humphries and youve got a scary good squad.

My garuntee, either Dwight gets traded to NJ, or the Nets trade D-Will.

If the Nets don’t land Dwight, than D-Will is out, and they need to trade him ASAP. If they do land Dwight, than although they would be a dangerous duo, you can’t help but think it’ll be like hte pre-Linsanity Knicks where they just completely fall off the table. You’d have to think that Marson Brooks, Lopez, and this year’s first to Dwight would be a damn nice deal for Otis Smith.

That would be a horrible trade for the Warriors. Yung God Ellis is a superstar and Brook Lopez rebounds like a little girl (maybe that’s why his name is Brook).

"A big 3 of Williams, Ellis and Howard sounds flawed in so many ways…"

scarecrow if you can tell me how its flawed in so many ways maybe you convince me. but that big 3 right there sounds scary! you have a great n a good passer feeding howard. a great go to guy in ellis. and im almost certain williams would not let ellis chuck so much.

also how is that "Johnny chill" wouldn’t want marshon brooks. u gotta be kidding,  maybe he is a little bit of a black hole but he’s playing great right now (for a rook) n shooting a decent .440%. this guy will be a go-to guy in the future with his ability score on isolations and 1on1s. and i can go out on a limp and say he’s a potential 20ppg scorer in the future

    basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/219298/report_howard_prefers_to_sign_with_nets_outright_in_summer

the nets obviously feel confident in signing dwight over the summer. monta would take a lot of pressure off d will in the back court and would provide a true scorer which d will and dwight really arent. and for the small forward and power forward positions they still have morrow, could resign humphries in theory and uh…a top 4 draft pick/the rockets mid round pick. i also think they could potentially try to trade some picks for granger. i wouldn’t compare bargniani to lewis. rashard played much much better perimeter d. no real need to trade lopez for barg. and derozan cant shoot, dwight, monta and d will all thrive off having shooters at the 3 and 4 (ex. anthony morrow on the warriors, dorrell wright, brandon rush, hedo turkoglu, ryan anderson). i dont know if it works in terms of salary but if the nets could make that trade for monta (who the warriors have been shopping for quite some time) and then send two picks and some up and comers for granger it wouldnt really matter who’s at the 4. [D-Will, Monta, Granger, scrub, and Dwight]

Ellis has been trade bait since halfway through Curry’s rookie year. No one has given an offer, much less an offer that includes a center capable of scoring 30 points in a game. Forget it. That trade is not happening.

I have no idea why people still like Ellis.  Undersized, High usage low efficiency scorers who don’t play D = meh.
