NbanflguyParticipantI think last night showed why the twolves should not trade Beasley. In a game where our best player Kevin Love was struggling and Rubio also only had 2 points, we managed to beat the #3 seed in the west on the road. Beasley and Dwill both had 27 points off the bench and dominated in the 4th quarter where the wolves pulled away.
The tricky thing with Beasley is that there are nights when you can’t wait to see him go, and nights like Tuesday when you wonder how the Wolves could ever live without him. If I am David Khan, this performance is exactly why I do not trade Beasley. I keep hearing that his stock is not high and we would really only be getting a late 1st or a trade exception. You can not trade a player as talented as Beasley for nothing in return. (I know the Heat did it, but they were making room for the big 3). It never hurts to have a guy with his skillset on the team, who is capable of going off any night. These are the kind of nights that the wolves need in order to make the playoffs and hopefully do well there. His attitude has really not been an issue this year and his is not a lockerroom disruption. He is still a liability on defense, but at least it looks like he is trying now.
If Beasley can’t fetch much in return, isn’t it better just to roll the dice and hope he has more games like the one last night down the stretch?
Whats the worst possible outcome? He leaves as a free agent over the summer and we miss out on a late pick in the draft.
Whats the best possible outcome? He continues to have these kind of games every once in a while, helps up make the playoffs, helps us do well in the playoffs, and a team like the Lakers doesnt get to have him.
The pro’s outnumber the con’s. Do not trade Beasley this year!

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantSixers Trade
Jodi Meeks, Nocioni’s 6 million dollar expiring contract and Both of Philadelphia’s Draft Picks in the 2012 Draft(Sixers still own the Grizzlies 2nd round pick so don’t freak out people, we are super young)
Wolves Trade
Micheal Beasley and Wayne Ellington
The Wolves would be getting their Starting Sg, one that plays great defense and spreads the floor as many would know, the perfect compliment to Rubio and he’s cheap as hell and can be brought back for far less than Beasley…
Nocioni gives them toughness, rebounding, 3 point shooting and a 6 million Expiring Contract!!!
The Sixers pick would be closer to the Lottery than the Lakers and we’d add a 2nd round pick in the same draft, this moves gives the Wolves a ton of Picks when they presumably had none going in the 2012 draft, they get cap room and they get their Starting Sg which should all but seal the deal…
The Sixers get a very good Scoring Pf to pair with Vucevic, a former 2nd Overall pick to add to the core of Holiday, Turner, Iguadola, Young, Hawes,Williams, Vucevic and Allen …Beasley could learn some things from Elton while he’s still on the books, that could be the best thing Elton does for the franchise that gave him a Max Contract, he could groom our Next Franchise Pf, Micheal Beasley!!!
Tell me what’s wrong with this offer…I’m here all day…LOL…

fredrock34Participantthe Sixers have no need for a player like beastly cause they have Young who is another twinner just like beastly. If Beaslty is going to get traded i would like to see a veteran team take a chance on him. A team with strong minded players that can teach beastly what it takes to succeed in the nba.

HaleParticipantObviously this purely hypothetical, but what if someone offers a solid SG for Beasley, do you trade him then? I would.

Yes I would trade him if we were able to get a solid SG, but I havent heard of any teams offering one for him. I just would not trade him for a late pick or trade exception. He has more value to us right now than a late pick or trade exception would.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantT-Wolves fans should love that.. Games like that convince teams that they need Williams or Beasley and will be willing to make a trade for be or the other.. Can’t have both in the system for a long time. They play alot alike and from mostly the same position. One will either be traded or not resigned when the time comes..

TallmanNYCParticipantWhat if Houston offered Kevin Martin for Beasely? Ridnour could also be traded (perhaps to the Knicks for Shumpert, if Baron Davis is unable to regain his form).

Yes I would do this in a heart beat. I guess maybe I wasnt very clear. I would not trade Beasley if we are getting really nothing of value in exchange. I would do Beasley for Kevin Martin in a heart beat and I am sure Khan would to.

kngojcParticipantThe problem I have with Beasely is that even though he has games like last night where he can go off, he tries to do the same thing every single night. He tries to put up 40 every single night even when there is no way he can. So he puts up a ton of shots and can be a major ball stopper on offense when the ball touches his hands because there is no shot he won’t take. If I were Kahn, I’d look to trade for a veteran SG, a young SG, and a late first or second round pick. We have too many tweeners on this team, its time we start cashing in some of our assets for better suited players for the team.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantThey have plenty of Sf/Pf’s with Budinger, Williams, Morris, Hill, Patterson, Parsons and Scola… Why would The Rockets make a move like that, to a Western Conference foe at that…Think sometimes before you post…
The Offer stands…Jodi Meeks, Nocioni, 1st and 2nd round picks in 2012 Draft for Beasley and Ellington
Meeks can shoot the three and defend as well as Martin IMO, he’s not nearly as dynamic a player but He’ll defend and knock down open 3’s, and he comes at a far cheaper price tag then Martin, Mayo or Gordon… Is that not some value for Beasley who they may lose for nothing(yes A Trade Exemption is nothing for a team that can’t sign Free Agents, minus maybe Kris Humpries…
In fact I have another Beasley trade Idea
Beasley and Wes Johnson for Kris Humpries and Marshon Brooks…

JunkYardDogParticipantBut Beasley doesn’y fill a need for Houston at all…. and that’s the same thing for philadelphia.
Thad’ young is already there to fill that role : sf/pf.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantBeasley is and has always been a Power Forward with a high skillset, he does need to refocus himself on playing bigger/stronger that’s why Brand would do wonders for his inside/outside game
Beasley could very well be starting PF, If the Lakers traded for him he’d be playing PF sooner rather than later…
Thad is great combo Forward(I hate the word Tweener) was Kukoc a tweener, was Odom a Tweener, was Garnett a tweener??? the list goes on and on…Because you can multiple positions doens’t make you a liability…I actually hate players that only play one position, as they are usually 1 dimensional
(Example Jodi Meeks, he is purely a Sg/Shooter which limits his potential and role)
Lou Williams and Jason Terry are tweeners by most accounts but both are 6th man types off the bench, they have the big roles for their teams, Terry won a Championship Ring hitting shots over Wade and Lebron and he’s a TWEENER…

JPE09ParticipantWhat would you say of this trade: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=899wfcd
Is it possible?
Would you add a pick headed to NJ to have that deal done?

Chilbert arenasParticipantNo thanks, Net’s aren’t giving up Brooks for that cast of characters and question marks.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/29/2012 - 1:38pm #642567
JPE09ParticipantNets like Beasley. Randolph shot selection is bad but it´s truly talented. He just needs the right guidance and tutoring.
Tolliver would let them free some cap space. Ellignton is a player who can develop well but needs time.
And a first pick or two would make it possible.
