Jodi Meeks played 36 minutes tonight in a blowout win against the Pistons, he scored 12 points 5 rebounds and 2 steals

Evan Turner played in 24 minutes – He had 8 points 7 rebounds and 3 assist, also added a steal

Jrue Holiday played 25 minutes – He had 10 points 5 assists 3 rebounds and 3 steals

Lou Williams played 25 minutes – Lou "The 6th man" of the year scored 13 points 7 assist and 2 rebounds

Other notable players Thad Young played in almost 30 minutes and gave us 20 points 8 rebound and 2 steals off the bench…

Andre Iguadola played 30 minutes and had 12 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assist and 4 steals

Elton Brand played just 22 minutes and added 10 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assist and 3 steals

So My major questions are …Why the hell is Doug Collins playing Jodi Meeks 36 minutes in a game Holiday and Turner played 49 minutes combined…Are they not the future??? why not play them major minutes in a blowout win against some decent guards in Knight, Stuckey and Gordon???…I feel like he’s starting to kill some of the development of our core players…Holiday and Turner need to see at least 32 minutes per game if we are to see them max out their potential in Philadelphia, the more I look at Collin’s coaching style it looks like he’s coaching Them for the next team…

Holiday was a steal when we drafted him 17th, Turner was the 2nd overall pick and the College Player of The Year, he also had Iron Man status after breaking his back and returning weeks later win said C.P.O.T.Y(Jodi Meeks was a 2nd round pick and acquired in a lateral trade with the Bucks)…

I feel like Collins was coaching for his job and quick wins in his 1st seasons instead of building long term success with the young players in place…His style has brought the Sixers wins but at what cost??? We have talked about them trading Iguadola to make room for Turner and Holiday, when it’s clear that either Meeks or Williams has to go, tonight they played a total of 61 minutes, while our future back court played in only 49 minutes total…

I’m starting to believe we should Trade Lou Williams or Jodi Meeks, Nocioni’s 6 million expiring contract and Spencer Hawes at the deadline

I don’t think Philly should be looking for a trade unless they can aquire a superstar at a decent price.

Plus Meeks stretches the floor alot more than having Turner or Iggy on the wing.  He is a much better 3PT threat on the wing and is the best all around shooter on the team with exception to possibly Lou Williams.  Lou, Iggy, and Turner all can probably get their shot off better, but Meeks hits open Js more often.  Therefore, teams have to play up on him on the outside which opens the lane for the rest of the team and especially drivers like Iggy, Turner, Young, and Holiday.

Jodi is much more valuable on the Sixers than most people realize.

But why is he playing 36 minutes in a blowout when he started the game…

Meeks was a 2nd round pick, we got him from Milwuakee for dirt cheap, and I love him as a shooter too

But my main point was that Turner is the 2nd overall pick and Holiday was a steal when we drafted him…

No why should we be playing Meeks 36 minutes when Holiday and Turner clearly need to play a bigger role if "WE" are benefit from their talents, WE as in the Sixers, not the next team they play for…

Turner looks like he’s upset at the amount of playing time he gets, and Holiday can’t like spliting minutes with Lou and Jodi as well…I get what Meeks brings as far as spreading the Defense goes but the Thunder wouldn’t play Dequan Cook 36 minute while playing Harden 24 because Cook spreads the floor better for Westbrook and Durant…

One of those guys has to go at the deadline…I repeat Jodi Meeks or Lou Williams MUST GO…

We should find a way to include Nocioni’s expiring contract, 3 point shooting, solid rebounding and defense

Jodi and Nocioni account for 7 million dollars in cap, throw Hawes into the deal and it becomes 11 million in cap(All of which comes off the books if the other team wants to clear cap)

My Dream scenario would be a 3 team trade with Memphis and Charlote

    Sixers trade Spencer Hawes(Bobcats) Andreas Nocioni(Bobcats) Jodi Meeks(Grizzlies) and 2012 1st round pick(Grizzlies)

    Bobcats trade Tyrus Thomas(Sixers)

    Grizzlies trade OJ Mayo(Sixers)

The Grizzlies get a cheap replacement for Mayo and add another 1st round pick for depth

The Bobcats get out of Thomas’ contract while getting a young Center to pair with Kemba and Bismack Biyombo, Nocoini’s expiring contract saves them some cap space

The Sixers add a more dynamic shooter in Mayo and a potential replacement for Brand in Thomas…

I think this is just how Doug choses to run him team.  He spreads out the minutes like this regardless.  Evan isn’t a experienced either, and while I would like to see him get more minutes, I think Doug just doesn’t want to move away from what is working.  I think this team is built so much upon fluidity and chemistry, that he doesn’t want to step away from the formula he is having success with, even in a blowout.  Its all about rhythm for this team; rhythm and D.  Why risk it by changing up the rhythm even in a blowout v. the Pistons.

All I gotta say is 68 pts.

and we alrwady what Holiday can do as far as defense and hitting an open jump shot goes…It makes no sense as to why he can’t play Meeks 24 minutes and allow Holiady and Turner to split the remaining 12 in tonights case, that would have put Turner out on the court for 30 minutes and Holiday out there for 31, and wouldn’t have lost a step offensively or defensivly, and further more it helps us develop 2 key pieces for the future…

What do you think about my 3 team trade…

Keep in mind Lou Williams is free agent after next season so adding Mayo wouldn’t create a longjam at Guard long term

Tyrus Thomas is making a little more than Nocioni so taking on his contract would not hurt our cap situation longterm either, Brand is a huge expiring contract next season(If we don’t Amnesty him in July)

    The Longterm Core would be

    Holiday-Mayo-Iguadola-Ty.Thomas-Vucevic-Evan Turner-Thad Young-Lavoy Allen

Hawes, Nocioni, Meeks, Battie and Brackins are all Free Agents after this season

Lou Willams and Elton Brand come off the books next season

Iguadola also has a Player Option but would be silly to leave 15 million on the table, but we stand to lose him the year after Brand and Williams…

I don’t think the Sixers are going to make a move before the deadline. They know this is a decent draft, and it gives them a chance to see what the combo of Turner, Iggy, and Jrue can do.  Honestly, I don’t think Turner meshes all that well with the other two and I would love to see a draft night deal.  But for now there doesn’t appear to be any trades coming.

I agree that Doug should be playing Turner and Jrue more in this situation, especially Turner.  He’s seen his playing time diminish in the past month and hasnt been scoring too well.  A game like this would have helped with his confidence.

While I dont agree with Collins not playing Evan when he gets the chance, I figure that he left Jodie in the game so long because he hasnt been shooting well and wanted him to get some looks.  Plus, Jodie is important to this team, he’s basically theyre only deep threat and they need him to regain his stroke to that the 76ers can space the floor better.  He’s the only player on the team that shoots 3’s at over 40 percent.  Sooo thats probably why he gave him so much time today, dont necessarily agree with it, but thats just the way Doug coaches.

But isn’t Lou Williams the top scorer of the Sixers? Besides that, if you trade for OJ Mayo you get a backcourt of Jrue, Turner, Williams, Mayo this season, so where is the difference? Or do you want to completely forget about Williams this season? I mean, you take him out of the rotation, let’s say 15 minutes or something. I don’t know, Collins is coaching a winning team, and that’s the main point in here, winning. I agree in the whole developing young players proccess, but the expectations with this team are higher than last year, so Collins needs to succedd with them, and so far he is doing a great job. The team completely shutted down Chicago 🙁   last game and is in a good position in the East standings, so let’s see what happen.

Sounds like nit picking…  They won in a blowout so the minutes of this game don’t reflect much….  If your a Philly fan, don’t doubt Collins..  He is a legit coach and the team is a banger in the paint from being a contender..

Ummm…they beat a really bad team by 30 points, are we really that worried about the minutes? Maybe when Evan Turner proves he isn’t a bum, he’ll get to play more.

It’s funny, if Evan Turner or Jrue Holiday were playing in this blowout game and they get seriously injured, this post would be a lot different.  It would have started with "What the hell is Doug Collins doing?!  He’s suppose to rest his starters and good players if it’s a blow-out!  Not keep them out there!  What a moron!"

No that’s the point Meeks is a starter and he’s still out there for blowouts when you’re suppose to put your bench players and young guys who happen to be the bench players on the court.

The way he’s using Turner is maddening.  I don’t understand it.  They should of drafted Cousins or Favors if they were gonna do this.  Like it makes no sense.  It feels like he’s purposefully tryna sabatoge his career.  I can’t wrap my head around.

And yeah they got another game tonight so why play any starter 30plus in a blowout?

The fact is Turner and Holiday need to play huge minutes or they’re just going to sign with Lakers and Bulls when their contracts are up…It feels like he’s coaching them for team 2…by that time his ass will be back on TV hyping up the Lakers and Bulls next stars…

Why doesn’t any one see a problem with this…Meeks is solid but dammit we are not paying him top 5 pick money and will likely lose him to Free Agency anyway(unless we do something stupid like resign him at the Mid level) we got him for a 2nd round rick, and dammit Turner is 10x’s more dynamic…

Oh Yeah, FyckSwag666, you need to shut up because obviously Evan Turner is far from being scrub…If he’s a scrub, what are you, an angry butt hurt fan tormented by Turner’s pressence in the NBA…do yourself a favor and STFU…stop being a dirty disgusting troll…

Would Philly do a trade like this?

    Philly trades: Iguodala

Philly receives: LAC 1st (from Bos), R.Allen, J.Hill

    – Turner could move to his more natural point-forward role, Allen is an ideal 2 (for now), and Hill adds youth and depth to the frontcourt. Plus you get a pick.

    Boston trades: R.Allen, LAC 1st

    Boston receives: K.Martin

    – They get a younger SG, who is also an efficient off-ball scorer, and only give up a late-1st.

    Houston trades: K.Martin, J.Hill

    Houston receives: Iguodala

    – Houston goes defensive once again.

You shouldn’t be complaining about minutes man… More minutes or not, your Sixers are playing BEAUTIFUL BASKETBALL… I agree though that Lou Williams has become a bit expendable and could possibly be traded by deadline… Still got to admit, your team arguably have the best chemistry in the League… What I see from Evan Turner this year is, he’s learning to know his role on the team… Unlike last year where he was a bit confused by what his role was, this year he knows what he needs to do to help win games… This is a dangerous team especially come playoff time… No team should be sleeping on them…

I do think Elton Brand doesn’t quite fit in with Doug Collins’ system… He hasn’t really lived up to expectations when the team gave him that absurd amount of money…

    @Marcus Fizer,

Our point is we HATE TURNER"S ROLE as the 9th man off the bench and think it’s just ridiculous.  Last night we lost again only because we don’t have anybody who can consistently create looks for himself and the team at the end of games.  We drafted Turner for this reason.  We should have him on the floor getting experience in these moments instead of rotting away on the bench.  They are killing the window of potential he has by doing this.

If we could just trade Iggy or somebody for another shooter then everything would be dandy and Turner would pick right up where Iggy left off and start filling the box scores and make everybody feel like you didn’t waste the 2nd pick on a player you don;t need.

And Elton Brand has actually been a huge part of this teams success.  He is the veteran that makes sure all the young guys are staying professional, and he’s turned himself into a great man on low post defender.  He’s tough on the block and that wears off.  Brand could of averaged more points last year if he wasn’t in Collins’ system, this year he’s looking older yes, but overall he’s been giving this team great production considering we didn’t think he’d even play for us again when he was hurt the first 2 years.

I just hope we make a trade because this is basketball Limbo.  We got a great team but we are playing great at a sacrifice.  Meeks is a F.A. is anybody should be getting hid it’s him.

DO YOU WATCH TURNER??? HE DOESNT DO ANY OF THAT STUFF WHEN HE GETS IN…his PER blows so don’t tell me minutes are the only thing holding him back from stardom.

Yes I watch EVERY SIXERS GAME, do you watch them?  Or do you watch them in glancing like a quarter here and there on league pass.

Even if you start Turner and give him 40 minutes a game and he gets you 17 points and 10 rebounds you wouldn’t notice him.  He’s very sneaky and deceptive in his overall game.  The Sixers offense runs smoother with him in tho.  Just look at his +/- stats.  He’s almost always one of the Sixers leaders in that category.  What he does well is play great defense, makes the extra pass, and doesn’t force anything.  It that fact that he don’t force anything which is why people are thrown off at his production.  The only time he’ll force plays is when the team is down by a large margin and need somebody to start making plays.  This hasn’t happened very often this season, and the one recent time it did against Orlando b4 the break Turner just wasn’t hitting his shots.

But b4 Collins’ started limiting his minutes Turner was averaging 11 ppg, over 6 rpg, and 3 apg in 26 minutes.  Then inexplicably Turner found himself getting only 10-20 minutes a game and he hasn’t adjusted well.  Just when he thought he found his role boom, bench again.

Also last year Turner was the Sixers BEST PLAYER in the only game then won against Miami.  The talent is undeniably there, now he just needs the opportunity.  And not a game where he get’s 30 minutes, like a real opportunity to start, be handed the ball, and show what he can do.  He’s never really gotten that and he’s probably not going to get that.  Instead the Sixers will allow Iggy to lead the team to a high seed and a subsequent short out in the playoffs because simply put no team will ever go far if Andre Iguadola is your best player.

MJ and all of the other all time greats were watching in awe seeing him put up that 11-6-3, thats some MVP calibur stuff.

Also last year Turner was the Sixers BEST PLAYER in the only game then won against Miami.

Jannero Pargo was New Orlean’s best player in Game 7 vs San Antonio a few years back. Thats doing wonders for him now.

a subsequent short out in the playoffs because simply put no team will ever go far if Andre Iguadola is your best player.

No team would make the playoffs with Evan Turner as their best player.
