Is it racist to think that black people have the same opportunitites as white people??

    And

White people have the same opportunities as black people??

Just heard a conversation between my friends where I didnt say anything because I feel like nobody wins that fight…

Also, P-Diddy said "Black Power" on national televison and nobody ever aknowledged it.. If Buddinger said "White Power" he would have been kicked out of the NBA…

To think that two different races have equal opportunies is more embracing than racist. But like Morgan Freeman once said, racism will nerver go away because people never stop talking about it.

Anyone have any idea what he was talking about when he threw the "black power" thing out there?  I wasn’t paying attention until he yelled that out of nowhere

I thought the diddy thing was a mad awkward moment but with the way Chase was dressed I thought it might have been a Do The Right Thing/White Men Cant Jump reference….or he was drunk

In America white power is associated with the neo Nazis, skinheads and other hate groups that believe in the dominance of the European American… Black power on the other hand is a term used in the civil rights and by the black panthers to unite black people to stand against a system that was unjust towards black people..

One term is based on hate the other based on unification.

White people are the majority here, and being white is considered the norm. Ever since they came to America and slaughtered the Natives, they’ve been in control. If you’re looking at America’s general attitude toward skin color alone, it’s clear there has been minimal oppression toward whites.

On the other hand, there have been many times in America’s history that people of other colors have been taught that they are different and because of that, something is wrong with them. The "Black Power" (or "Latino-American Pride", "Native American Pride", or "Asian-American Pride") movement counters those attitudes, which promotes positive change.

"White Power" suggests that white people have lost their power, and is supported by people who want to suppress/counter the progression that other races have made. "White Power" is less about instilling pride in people, and more about promoting shame in others. "Black Power" is (usually) much more positive, and is generally only used to promote pride in a race that used to be considered inferior in this country.

For the most part white people have slightly better oppurtunities then blacks but one thing blacks have a clear edge in is getting into college. Funny thing is where i live its projected in the next 10 years that whites will actually be a MINORITY to latin-americans.

In the case of Puffy’s comment it wasn’t racist.  I am a huge bball fan but at the same time you gotta stay in tuned with more current events than just basketball.  He held up the fist and said black power because he just signed a deal with Comcast to have his own cable television network called "Revolt".  That’s why he said "the revolution will be televised….Black power".  Magic Johnson is getting his own network as well called "Aspire".  Both stations are supposed to be geared toward showing empowering and uplifting black images and ideals unlike the way BET just keeps re-airing Boyz N the Hood and Menace II Society all black history month.  Don’t make it a bigger issue than it really is….he was just marketing.

I just think it’s stupid to see rich white guys act like affirmative action is somehow hindering white people from being successful.  I recently read an article that stated after a study of U.S. top corporate executives found out that about 94% of them were white men.

I think it’s the ridiculous when white Christian men (mainly Republican politicians and TV personalities) try to act like they are being somehow being discriminated against due to their religion or affirmative action.  It just is not the case.

There are more black Americans graduating from college and qualifying for higher paying jobs than there were 20 years ago, but it’s not because whites are being discriminated against.  I’m a white guy, and I HATE that woah is me "I’m just a rich white Christian male" BS.

Black Americans have OBVIOUSLY much less opportunities than white Americans. According to a recent study (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/may/17/white-people-95000-richer-black) :

"A huge wealth gap has opened up between black and white people in the US over the past quarter of a century – a difference sufficient to put two children through university – because of racial discrimination and economic policies that favour the affluent.

A typical white family is now five times richer than its African-American counterpart of the same class, according to a report released today by Brandeis University in Massachusetts."

Some might be surprized, but the US is a country of social IMmobility where merit is not rewarded. In Europe, when you come from a poor familiy, you’re more likely to make your way up than in the US. The multiple tax cuts for the richest Americans and the supposedly "trickle down" economy has been a tragedy for humble people in general, and for Black people in particular.

But don’t worry, Europe is following America’s steps…

^Yeah, the wealth gap got a lot worse when the recession hit.  When high paying factory and construction jobs, which allowed many non college educated Americans to provide good lives for their families, were lost then many lost their houses and were forced to deal with months of un employment or taking minimum wage jobs for the first time in decades.

Many white Americans fall into this category too, but studies have shown African American middle to lower middle class home owners were hit the hardest.

Also, the trickle down economy is BS.  You can’t coddle the rich and expect them to give back to their employees, when major corperations were being hit hard in 2007 and 2008 their CEO was often pocketing millions of dollars in bonuses while thousands of lower level employees were being laid off.  People are greedy, you can’t just pamper multi millionaires and expect everything to work iteself out.

I think I’m going to create a channel for white people.  A dating site for only white people. A month dedicated to my white heritage.

I am just kidding of course..

I understand the whole movement and I get that it’s important and everyone has statistics.. Its hard to deny numbers but just like basketball stats, they can deceive…

My negative experiences with black people are:

When black people are together, they act different.  Most black women at sporting events are crazier than most white women.  Black on black crime is very very high.  Anytime something negative happens, it’s because they are black..  Sometimes it is said in a joking manner but it is still said…

Theses are just my experiences and I know not everyone has seen the same things I have..

In general, I don’t think I am racist but some people will say I am.  However, I don’t prejudge anyone, regardless of color.  However, after I see a person act a certain way and see how they conduct themselves, I make my judgement Anne then have an opinion of the individual.  I don’t thinknim racist, I think I just hate most everyone…

Except for my brothers here on NBAdraft.net!  Love y’all!
