StF616ParticipantJoe Johnson of the Atlanta Hawks
Jame Jones of the Miami Heat
Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves

Wavy BagelsParticipantAlthough I want Morrow to win, Jones will defend his title.
By the way…No love for the Red Rocket?

Mr. 19134ParticipantHow in the name of God did Jodie Meeks not make it?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/15/2012 - 3:27pm #637177

I May Be WrongParticipantI’m sorry but no JODIE MEEKS!? C’mon 43% 3pt shooting and he only does ONE thing for us – shooting 3’s. I thought he was going to be in it for sure but of course, the league doesnt pick him. I’ll say Anthony Morrow wins it but I don’t like having Joe Johnson in it.

WeavvvParticipantBut the NBA put up a joke of a contest roster. Chalmers (and maybe Anderson/Morrow) are the only ones I feel qualify to be in a competition to reward the best 3 Pt Shooter. Obviously it’s a player’s option as well, but big names are missing, who could definitely come in and win this thing pretty handily:
Stephen Curry
Richard Jefferson (dude is shooting 43% from 3 this year, and taking 5 a game)
and ESPECIALLY Jesus Shuttlesworth. 50% on the year? Ridiculous.
And smaller names..
Jodie Meeks
Carlos Delfino
and even Korver. All shooting better than 40% while taking a high volume of 3 pt shots. But, if we’re making predictions, I’ll go Chalmers. I predict Johnson and Love have the lowest score.

Wavy BagelsParticipantThey always seem to put that one guy in the contest that hasn’t made an impact beyond the arc every season.
Last season it was Paul Pierce, this season it’s Johnson.

mikeyvthedonParticipantBut I like James Jones to repeat. He will be in the Finals up against Ryan Anderson. If there is a third person in the finals (I guess there might be, or is, either way) I go with Anthony Morrow. Joe Johnson is certainly an interesting choice, lol. Not that Joe can’t stroke, he can, but he is shooting 35.6% this season and is 36.6% for his career.
The lowest career percentage of any winner was Quentin Richardson (won 2005) at 35.6%. He also led the league in makes that year playing for the Suns (though his percentage was still close to his career average). Next lowest was Paul Pierce at 37% for his career, but he shot 41.4% the season he won it. Needless to say, the contest tends to favor high percentage guys who do not need much elevation on their shot.

aamir543ParticipantI wanted to see Matt Bonner in it, and Steph Curry, other than that, good selection. I’ll pick Morrow to dominate, but James Jones could also win.

FritzParticipantMario Chalmers won the McDonalds 3 point shoot out in high school, so I think he has a good shot, but I honestly wouldnt be surprised if Kevin Love won this thing.
But I would have to think the favorite is Morrow. Dude can stroke it

JNixonParticipant"But I would have to think the favorite is Morrow. Dude can stroke it"
#Pause. Haha
But Meeks should’ve made it he has been a super good shooter this year. I also wouldn’t have minded Steve Novak in the contest either, but I might be ahead of myself on that one.

BleedingBlueParticipantJJ Redick should have made it. For God’s sake this is in Orlando.
I call Ryan Anderson among the ones chosen. (I actually think Chalmers might be the best out of the 6, but the team with the 3-point shootout champion have never won the NBA title for that season and I’m a Heats fan, so..)

llperezthere is so many great three point shooters out there its alaways an event where it doesnt even make sense to really get upset about who gets invited cause there are just too many good candidates. Although i am surprised to see johnson on there. Its almost like they just want to save a few bucks on plane tickets and hotel accomodations so they send guys already in the all-star game.

Mr. 19134ParticipantJodie Meeks is making two 3’s a game shooting 43% The only players in the NBA that making atleast two 3’s in a game that shoot over 43% are Ray Allen and Mario Chalmers.
Jodie Meeks has made more 3’s then James Jones has attempted this year! And he’s shooting a better % . I don’t care if Jones won it last year he don’t DESERVE to be in it this year.
I just can’t wrap my head around this especially considering the Sixers have one of the best records in the league because of Meeks 3 pt. shooting. All he literally does it take 3’s and he never even comes inside the arc on offense, but he keeps the floor spaced for the Sixers slashers. You think the league would want to reward these players who’ve mastered their craft. Not just throw big names in their because people are gonna watch the 3 pt. contest anyway.
And Joe Johnson is just a joke he maybe the league wants to make him work a little extra for that ridiculous contract that he signed.
Sorry had to vent. On a side note did anybody else notice that Klay Thompson is shooting 50% from 3 this year? That surprised me cuz he hasn’t looked good in any of the games I’ve watched.

llperezyeah, i noticed klay is lighting it up on his stats. hes taking 3 threes a game connecting on 50% from deep.
