Gasol for Rondo

 I don’t understand whyyy Boston would trade their best and almost youngest player for a great but older player that is slightly overpaid and plays at the position they are set at (Garnett and Bass)

to fall to get Dwight Howard?  That would be an awfully tough trio (Bryant, Howard, Rondo) to deal with for years to come, or at least until Kobe decides to hang them up.  For the Lakers sake, I hope they get someone like Rondo as they are not coming out of the West as currently constructed.

The lakers would have a great trio even if they didnt get howard. Rondo would get the most out of Bynum without taking much away from Kobe. I am not a Lakers fan by any means but I think those three would rival the heats trio, not because of better players individually but I think they would work together better as a team

Please don’t let this happen, Rondo is my favourite player and I’m a Celtics fan. If Ainge pulls the trigger on this deal he’s an idiot.

Gasol’s value is nowhere near Rondo’s, and if you trade Rondo you lose all chance of enticing Howard to sign in Boston.

I’m not a big fan of trading a big for a small… This hurts both teams in my opinion.

Those two teams don’t trade between each other and it does not help C’s cause Bradley does not create anywhere on Rondo’s level or penetrate either.

I’m pretty sure whoever made this from real GM just read that Lakers fans thread from yesterday. The Celtics aren’t trading Rondo for Gasol. No, just no.

What a stupid trade, honestly. Rondo, who is what, 25 and regarded as top 5 PG for a 31 year old soft Center who has no place in Boston at all. Danny Ainge dangling Rondo for CP3 is one thing, Danny Ainge dangling Rondo for Gasol is just idiotic.

What exactly will Boston do in three years when the Big3 and Pau Gasol are all too old or retired?

Rondo is going to be their piece to hold the franchise up post-Big 3.  The Celtics aren’t that stupid.. hopefully.

have the lakers and celtics ever traded such big names with eachother??? i find that about as odd as anything about this deal…

 As I said in the other post TOL-23, the Celtics for whatever don’t seem to be interested in rebulding around Rondo, and in 3 years they will have Miami Heat 2010 offseason type cap space as KG and Ray will both already be off the books and Pierce and Gasol will both be coming off of their contracts. They can then start the rebuild over completely with a couple of youthful draft picks and a ton of capspace. Not to mention they could still have any of KG,Ray,PP, or Gasol around to bring vet leadership. 

As for Indiana, normally trading big for small is a no-no, but IMO, when said big is playing like a small shooting 3’s and not posting up, nor playing up to his 20 million dollar salary, I’ll make the deal. Especially when it’s the first part of a domino effect inticing a certain guy named Dwight to come to LAL.
