aamir543ParticipantJust heard that the Clips fear that Chauncey Billips suffered a season ending torn achilles injury in tonights game against the Magic.
I hope he’s OK, but this has to be devastating for a guy that’s a class act and really wanted another ring.
For the Clipps this makes them papper thim as far as depth goes, and Mo Williams will really need to step up and become a 20 ppg guy for them, and newly added Kenyon Martin will definatly help.
Hope Chauncey recovers soon, and comes back healthy, and hopfully sooner rather than later.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantThey really need a SG now
0 - Posted on: Mon, 02/06/2012 - 6:51pm #632805

Sasha4MVPParticipantGallo also got hurt. They are calling it a "chip fracture of the foot."
This sucks, he was playing really well this year and was a potential All-Star.
As for Chauncey, I hope he comes back healthy and strong considering he is 35 years old.
I wonder if they Clippers will try to trade Bledsoe/Williams for a SG because I don’t think they can compete without Chauncey.

paradigmnParticipantSeason ending injury???? Unfortunate for Chauncy…Achilles injuries quite possibly are the worse injury an athlete can suffer. Chauncy is 35…I hate 2 say it…but…this might have been Billups last game. I was in the D when the Pistons won the tittle in 04…he will always be remembered by me…I wish him the best….but looks like the ride is over.

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantthe shorten season is really hurting the players. Looks like JR Smith is coming to town.

Malik-UniversalParticipantNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
CHAUNEY!!!!!!

omphalosParticipantThis certainly opens up minutes for a JR Smith or Wilson Chandler at the Clippers. Sucks for Chauncey though.

Aran SmithKeymasterI feel bad for Chauncey. Hope it wasn’t his last game. He’s a true professional and Dumars made a terrible mistake trading him for AI…Unfortunately there probably will be many more injuries this year. The NBA schedule is brutal in a normal season. This schedule is going to take out a lot of players. The players voted on it, so the blame can’t be put solely on the league for this. I would seriously consider sitting top players once every 3-4 games.

GottaBeTheShoesParticipantChauncey was a legend in Denver and he barely played there. He was a class act for colorado and we have rooted for him his whole career. Whether this is his last game or not, I think he should be at least considered for being a hall of famer. Bringing the pistons to the finals twice and winning it once was remarkable. There is nothing to hate about the guy. He got thrown around like a 3rd stringer but never complained. From boston to denver to detroit back to denver then to the knicks and to the clips. Hopefully if he does decide to call it quits he’ll leave the clips and sign with denver to play one more game to end his career.

F_DA_POParticipantThis sucks, how can the Clippers guard the opposing team’s shooting guard? How do they expect Mo Williams to guard Kobe or Wade?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 02/06/2012 - 7:55pm #632825

omphalosParticipantTravis Leslie might get some burn (if he’s still on the roster) as a defender at the 2.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 02/06/2012 - 7:59pm #632826

F_DA_POParticipantI’d rather have Chandler than JR Smith, a lineup of CP3, Butler, Chandler, Griffin and Jordan would be deadily. Mo Williams and K-Mart off the bench is nice.

ZeeProfessorParticipantWilson Chandler is a restricted free agent…the maximum the Clippers can offer him is the mini mid level exception of 2.5million so I don’t think he’s going to be a Clipper unless the Nuggets gift him to them by not matching the offer sheet

PabloFiascoParticipantRoll out the red carpet for JR Smith….the Clippers will be a nightmare in the west with him on the squad

RUDEBOY_ParticipantYep, this season’s back-to back-to back game schedule has been rough on alot of players..I heard Rudy Gay on a sports talk show in Memphis, say that he felt so drained during halftime of a recent game, that he had to have oxygen, just to get his wind back..Whoever wins the ring this year will be the team that can keep its core players healthy and a deep productive bench…
But With Billups the Clippers looked like a Championship contender..Now without him,i dont see them winning the Western conference finals…

sammybuckeye13ParticipantMo Williams is not going to be a 20 ppg guy for anybody.

c’mon craigParticipanthopefully willie warren can get some minutes at the 2 hes been doing pretty well in the d league

Ghost01ParticipantI think alot of you are vastly overrated chauncey billups, who has been shooting the clippers out of games, and shooting other teams back into games all year.I understand he was able to guard 2s. Lets not act like he was some kind of lockdown defender at the 2. The Clippers have had to get a two all year. Chauncey was no more productive than Mo Williams will be. I expect Mo to be much more efficient offensively, and a slightly more liable player on the other end. CP3 can guard alot of twos also. They still need a SG. Whether they trade for someone like JJ Redick, or aquire one of those previously mentioned China guys, I’m sure they will figure this out.

MalcolmxParticipantSo unfortunate for this to happen to such a reliable player and a real class act.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/07/2012 - 6:39am #632910

FastAndFuriousParticipantI think now you move Mo Williams to the 2, and activate Bledsoe as backup PG, unless they sign a SG pretty fast, what other option do they have?
Travis Leslie? Not a chance way too experienced
Randy Foye? Maybe
But the best bet is to move Mo Williams to the 2 and activate Bledsoe.

IndianaBasketballParticipantHate to hear this… A achilles injury is no joke. And at his age, this could end his career.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/07/2012 - 10:18am #632988
NYK2010ParticipantWhy does Mo Williams have to score 20 ppg?
The Clips will miss Billups defense, 3 pt shooting and he had 4 asts a game too.
People shouldn’t go crazy because he was shooting 36% overall but his 4 asts and ig game
Now we know why Denver an NY moved him his age was too much and injuried hurt him last year too.
It happens with older players makes you appreciate Steve Nash and Jason Kidd even more.
Caron Butler will have to step up now I bet he gets more shots now.

db24kb24ParticipantFoye is no slouch. He can light it up, I’d start him and bring Mo off the pine.

iguapops420ParticipantSeems like this will be the end for Chauncey as we know it. Remember Elton Brand had an achilles injury that took him down a couple notches from the MVP candidate he once was. And that was during his physical prime. Not to mention as a Lakers fan I remember Laron Profit having a serious achilles injury that stopped him from ever developing into a player some in LAL saw. He was one of the lone bright spots from the Butler/Kwame trade. This definitely changes things for LAC as it takes one of their go-to scorers and true on-court leaders away which definitely hurts things when half of your team are young bucks with little to no playoff taste. It’s not all over for the Clips title hopes, but this definitely hurts them.
Hate to see such a bad thing happen to such a class-act, but here’s to hoping he can return and play the game again at, at least a complimentary level.
