bobbybParticipantThe Lakers need Gilbert Arenas/ Allen Iverson ect, Their big three is playing well. They get nothing from the bench. They need a guy who can create his own offense.

IndianaBasketballParticipant"Mini Mamba" has been solid though. I think he has potential.

bobbybParticipantYou re right, he does have potential but, the Lakers arent about potential. They are about winning right now! , They need a sixth man who can come in and light up the score board without relying on set plays.
Also if they got a guy like Arenas, at end of games they can do that OFF/DEF swap for World Peace.

llperezmini mamba has been playing well except for last night. He looks like a solid bench scorer right now, not just potential. But yeah the rest team has been struggling. Derek has actually ran away from open shots a few times this year cause hes struggling. It really puts so much pressure on the big 3 who are doing their job and they dont get enough help. Hopefully blake comes back soon cause he was playing agressive and making shots.

JoeWolf1Allen Iverson? comon’ he’s done in the NBA. A playoff team looking to become a contender would never think about adding 37 year old Allen Iverson a few years removed from the league, a guy not even playing basketball right now. A guy who’s been more of a distraction than an asset ever since he was in Detroit. That Allen Iverson is going to help the Lakers win it all?
Give me Mini Mamba any day of the week over 2012 Allen Iverson.

cuseflynn10ParticipantWould you rather a 37 year old Allen Iverson or a 33 year old Brian Scalabrine?
As long as Scalabrine is in the league Iverson could be. I think Iverson would be capable of at least 2 points and 1 rebound and 1 assist a game.

CoachWorthyParticipant37 year old six foot shooting guard….., hopefully they give up a first rounder for Ramon Sessions. He is crazy quick, good in pick and roll offense and played for Mike Brown before. If they would give up the other first rounder we would give them Andy Varajao too, who we (in Cleveland) love but we need to be bad, real bad. The difference between Terrance Ross and Myers Leonard (late lottery) and Lamb, Barnes or Drummond is too big. Adding Andy and Sessions would give the Lakers front and back court depth.

OhCanada-ParticipantThe upcoming draft will have a PG for them. With the 18th to 25th pick they should be able to one of the better PGs in this draft.
- Kendall Marshall
- Tony Wroten
- Damian Lillard
- Myck Kabongo
- Dion Waiters
- Marquis Teague
- BJ Young
Who knows which of these players decide to stay and which decide to take it to the NBA, any of them seem like they couldmake an impact. Damian Lillard would be a perfect Laker PG.

SwatLakeCityParticipant@Ny2dadeathofme, I think they are talking about Andrew Goudelock.

bobbybParticipantArenas / AI are free agents that you can (hopefully)get for min wage. You dont want to have to give up anything valueable.

Mr. 19134ParticipantIverson can still play in the league the only major reason besides distractions is he has bad tendinitis flair ups. But I was at the game 2 years when the Lakers came to town it was like A.I.’s 5th game back with the team and he dropped 23 on the Lakers and shot a nice %. He was actually one of the main reasons the Sixers were even in that game. A.I. lost a step and was still one of the quickest guards in the league. Against Rose he had this great move where he hit him wit a hesitation cross and blew by him showing flashes of his former freakish speed which we may never see again. Allen would be able to come off the Lakers bench and give them 7 points and 3 assists still in 18mpg.
There’s no question in my mind Iverson still got the talent to produce for a playoff team in this league if he could keep his tendinitis healthy. And why am I reading all these post on sites saying that Iverson is broke? Just because a court seized your bank account doesn’t mean your broke. He has multiple bank accounts, and the one they seized they only did to pay back his jeweler they didn’t completely wipe it out. Most people don’t realize Iverson has a lifetime contract to Reebok and has never even had to touch any of the checks he made from basketball. He doe’s all his partying and crazy stuff with all his endorsement money.
Doesn’t anybody remenber when A.I. got pulled over in Atlanta during the summer in a Lambo with expired plates and the cops said they’re gonna take his car and A.I. "Go head take it I got 10 more."

Ghost01ParticipantI’d love to see Andrew Goudelock on the floor in a playoff series. The Lakers bench, even at its most pitiful moments is always highly overrated.

JoeWolf1Sure, Allen Iverson could probably play for an NBA team in a limited bench role, but he’s not going to put a team like the Lakers over the hump into a contender. AI dropping 7 ppg off 40% shooting isn’t going to boost any team to a Championship.
A.I. very well could not be in shape right now, and his last stint in the NBA he proved he would rather start for a bad team then come off the bench for a playoff caliber team…I don’t know if playing overseas has humbled him, but it’s never good to burn bridges, especially if you’re a pro athlete over 35.
