valentineIf i was a GM I will ask myself can Tyreke Evans can guard or put up points on a Kobe,DeWayne or an Andre dont have time to dish out everyone, but you get the point.Shooting guard in the best posi. in the NBA. I think if he comes out now nba scouts will say (yeah i will take you with my pick) then they pull a CDR on you a Brady Quinn,so TYREKE to me is not a lock on the 1st round

QHaynes123Listen, he showed in college he can play PG and SG. Mayo played SG most of his life and in workouts he showed he can play PG.
Evans can score…In the NBA today, he could get like 18-22 ppg, 6 assits per game when his potential maxed out

Bballfan123ParticipantI dont see what the big deal is about him either….he is a shooting guard that cant shoot. He wont be able to play the PG in the league. He will be a first rounder but all the people who think he is a lock to be a top 10 pick must be memphis fans, he should be selected 20-30, if he is selected before that its a waste of a pick.

eprizzle14ParticipantI think it’s safe to say he’s a lock for the first round. I can see him become a Stephen Jackson type + ball handling. I’m not sure he’s going to be an all caliber defender but I think he should be solid, my guess he’s going in the 8-18 range

sheltwon3ParticipantHe is a 6’6″ point guard. he is quick enough and skilled enough to learn how to defend the perimeter. Wade did not come to the NBA with shooting ability, MD didn’t. Evan showed in the tournament he could hold his own and has the confidence to be an elite player. He will not fall that far in this draft which is not as weak as some suggest but lacks size so a player like Evans is atractive right now.

Csharp3410ParticipantWith this weak draft and Tyreke only being 20 years old, an can play both guard spots. Average 18ppg freshman year, he should be a lottery pick.

ch15r36isParticipantCan’t shoot. Can’t play D. Can’t pass. High turnover rate.
Certainly not a point guard. Pick 16-30, and hope he learns the game, outside of scoring.“If i was a GM I will ask myself can Tyreke Evans can guard or put up points on a Kobe,DeWayne or an Andre dont have time to dish out everyone, but you get the point”
By the way, that doesn’t make any sense. Who is DeWayne and Andre?0 - Posted on: Fri, 04/17/2009 - 9:11am #146272
michaelds911ParticipantI was wondering the same thing ch15. That was one of the worst sentences I seen on this site.

dsalObviously he is a lottery pick, He won National Freshmen of the year award, and is quite obviously the most talented offensive player in the draft. Are you actually telling me that a legit NBA GM will take a Budinger or Henderson over him I dont think so.

KATASTROPHEParticipantIm curious, if Evans cant play the point in the NBA, does he have the ability to play off the ball or how high is his baskeball IQ??? But from what I have seen and heard about him he seems like a lock for the first round and he seems to be one of those classic bust or boom players.

ninja12ParticipantHe averaged over two steals a game for Memphis, so I’d say defense is one of his strengths. He can take guys off the dribble and he’s strong, so there’s definitely a place for him in the NBA. How good he can be depends on him and his commitment to becoming a better shooter. As far as I’m concerned, he has a high upside. He’s like Larry Hughes, but stronger.

ch15r36isParticipantAveraging two steals in college does not make defense a strength by any means.

michaelds911ParticipantI agree ch15. Just because you gamble by jumping passing lanes against garbage C-USA players doesn’t mean much.

ninja12ParticipantI’ve seen nothing to say that he can’t.

Masrockso the T-Dubs can snatch him at 18.

ninja12Participantso I think the Wolves should look long and hard at him at whichever pick they get in the lottery (probably 5,6, or 7)

alodom7ParticipantI think he is easily the most talented Freshman and will definitely be a top 5 pick without a doubt. He completely dominated against Mizzou on the biggest stage in his career, He’ll turn out to be an All-Star player.
