      The problem with the Dunk Contest now, is that majority of the participants are guys who are not "All-Star" quality names. These guys must prove themselves to leave their mark in the league (Harold Miner, Desmond Mason, Fred Jones, Gerald Green) all have the same common denominator. 

     
    Same thing applies for the Three-Point Shootout. Guys who are streaky/underrated marksmen, try their best to put the "Dead-Aim" on the back burner  (Voshon Lenard, Daequan Cook, James Jones) Although it’s more competitive than the Dunk Contest, I would like to say nothing will be tarnished from a high percentage title holder such as Ray Allen. If you take deep thought into this, Ray absolutely has nothing to lose, versus a highly anticipated guy we would like to see participate from earlier on in his career. Many of you may not know or remember, but Mr. Allen was a former Dunk Contest participant in 1997, who once upon a time was an underdog, trying to leave his mark early.
     
    I very much so know, you all may want to see a certain someone participate in an event, but it just won’t happen especially if he did not take advantage earlier on in his career.

    I think he’s talking about Lebron not participating in the dunk contest or Love not competing in the 3-point contest… but really I have no idea.
