bflaa2ParticipantHasheem Thabeat offers more defense than Blake. He is a force inside with a load of potential and Centers like him dont come around that often. O and hes 7’3.
Blake Griffin is the man. Freak athlete. Will dunk on anyone. Force in the Paint. Can rebound with the best of them.
Who do you take first if your these teams:
Sacromento Kings-Blake Griffin
Washington Wizards-Hasheem Thabeat
LA Clippers-Hasheem Thabeat
Memphis Grizzlies-Blake Griffin
Oklahoma City Thunder-Blake Griffin
Minnesota Timberwolves-Blake Griffin0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/04/2009 - 4:09pm #144536
jdubsram-13ParticipantI agree with all of the picks except for the T’Wolves. I heard Al Jefferson is happier playing PF than C. If he truly feels that way then what their GM should do is draft a true defensive C like Thabeet. Also, It seems like Thabeet will be going around their pick.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantAny team would be crazy to take thabeet over griffin…I don’t care how good their pf is…thabeet has zero offence and is weak…he is tall but that means nothing when he is boy strong enough to do much as far as gettin rebounds…all things Blake is better at except of course being tall

grwgoden08ParticipantHasheem is a much better defensive player. I think Blake’s defense is suspect, and he will get exposed at the next level.

bigsams50ParticipantHasheem would deliver nothing offensively

MasrockNot even the T-Wolves are dumb enough to take Thabeet over Griffin. I’m sorry but Big Al is playing Center if we somehow land the number 1 pick. He probably is anyway, because we’re most likely going to draft Rubio or Jennings.

jojososaParticipantHasheem Thabeet seems to get lost in big games, he is also very, very inconsistent…..Mayb its jus me but i dnt see tha work ethic there, come on now tha guy is 7’3 he shuld be dominating both ends of tha floor. Tha only knock on blake seems to be his height, and poor defensive skills. Blake has to b tha number 1 guy on everybody’s board

jdubsram-13ParticipantI wasn’t saying that the T’Wolves shouldn’t take him, he is the better player. I was just saying that he is a PF and Big Al wants to be a PF not a C. Besides, they will most likely have a 2-5 pick not the #1 pick. With that said they should just get a true C and make their star happy, and then with one of their other 1st rounders get a solid PG, like Ty Lawson or Jeff Teague.

bluedevils12ParticipantI dont think ppl have really seen blake play defense becuz he never had 2. He gets by on ahleticism and stuff so he never really has committed himself to trying to lock down a player

The8thDeadlySinParticipantHe doesn’t play defence because if he gets into foul trouble Oklahoma is nothing…he is the offence, the rebounding, and the only legit big on the team.

kizoloParticipantGriffin is too much a talent to pass over.

jnixon24Blake Griffin is a better prospect than Thabeet. He has everything Thabeet doesnt have on offense, and he is a much stronger player with potential to develop into a good defender in time. Thabeet is going to be a huge bust in the NBA, he will average like 4 or 5 a game. Saer Sene,if you never heard of him then dont worry about it. Just know Thabeet is just like him, with shorter arms.

themidnightriderParticipantThere is literally zero question here. Griffin is a much better prospect. Yes, Thabeet blocks tons of shots, but who knows if he will even be able to get in position to block in the NBA? He doesn’t really enforce his boxing out and kinda sneaks into the paint. I think he will get bullied around in the league.

MasrockThere aren’t any true Centers in the top 5-6 picks of the draft other than Thabeet. I’ve heard Jim Stack say he isn’t exactly enthralled with Thabeet’s game, whereas he really likes Rubio and Jennings. Jefferson isn’t unhappy playing Center, it’s just that he’s more natural at PF. He’ll play Center if it’s in the best interest of the team. And believe me, it will be.

tuck243ParticipantHave Marcus Camby, Chris Kaman, and D’Andre Jordan (who showed promise this season)… I really feel like they won’t take another Center… Especially over Griffin? But you aren’t the first person to say this so IDK what in the hell is going on…
I just don’t see the Timberwolves taking Blake… They have Al and Kevin Love (a rookie)… And that means they would have to trade one of them and I’ll put money on K. Love… But I don’t see that happening because McHale loves Kevin and it would show he made a mistake in trading off OJ for him…
The Wizards can take Blake and should… Gilbert at PG, move Caron to 2, Jamison to 3, Blake at 4, and Haywood at 5… Maybe the biggest line-up in the NBA… Instant contender to the Cavs, Magic, and Celtics… Im in D.C. so I would pay for season tickets if this happens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let’s pray people…. LOL…

tbp82ParticipantEvery team in the lottery will take Blake. He is an upgrade over every lottery teams PF expcept Toronto’s and if they get #1 they are taking Blake to. Sorry this is a year just like Duncan’s draft year where we have an undisputed consensus #1 pick. Duncan played Center at Wake Forest was considered a Center and refereed to as a Center on draft night but the Spurs took him anyway despite having hall of fame Center David Robinson this is the same type of year Griffin is going #1 and there won’t be a discussion matter of fact for the first time since Duncan the team drafting #1 won’t even have to have workouts.

blancs50ParticipantLet’s get this out of the way quickly: Thabeet will be at the very best Dikembe Mutumbo. There is nothing wrong with that, as he was at his peak probably one of the top 10 centers in the league, and one of the greatest defensive centers of all time. At the worst though, think Diop Desagana. With that in mind, have you seen Blake Griffin play?
His coordination, demeanor, and athleticism will undoubtedly make him atleast a borderline all star. He is comparable to (Post-surgery) A. Stoudemire because of his athleticism (Pre-surgery Amare was in a totally different league; circa 40 ppg vs the Spurs?). He does not have Amare’s jump shot or neat mid post spin moves, but he already plays better defense, has a better back to the basket game, and is less selfish. The only lottery team I can think of that would not take him first? Perhaps the Raptors (Bosh, Bargnarni) and the Bobcats (Okafor) could use a center more, but honestly, I would expect them to draft him, and trade him. He is head and shoulder’s above everyone else right now when it comes to his potential and actual production.

BigTimeJohnParticipantThis guys has absolutely no stamina. If you draft him, he will need to improve his conditioning to play more than 25 minutes per game. He looked exhausted in the national seminfinal with 17 minutes left.
