IndianaBasketballParticipantThe Pacers aren’t very high on David West due to his age and recent knee surgery. They’re concerned with his ability to contribute two to three years from now. They like Nene, but don’t want to pay him big money.
According to reports, they’re strongly considering giving Marc Gasol an offer sheet that the Grizzlies won’t be able to match.
IF the Pacers can steal Gasol away from the Grizzlies, they’d then look to acquire Paul Millsap from the Utah Jazz via trade. The Pacers tried to acquire Millsap last season and apparently he is still available.
They’re also considering using the Amnesty Clause on Dahntay Jones.
Thoughts?

NCarmean18ParticipantWhat would the duo be like of Marc Gasol starting and Roy Hibbert coming off of the bench? That sounds pretty decent. Or maybe, there is a 3-way trade for Millsap in which Hibbert is traded away. The Pacers have the $$ to do what they want, now the question remains: Will they spend their money wisely?

festar35ParticipantI’m a big Roy Hibbert fan but Marc Gasol would be a franchise cornerstone for the Pacers and if we could get Millsap after that, man would we be contenders. We could have a starting line-up of Collison, George, Granger, Millsap and Gasol with Hill, Hansbrough and Stephenson off the bench.

IndianaBasketballParticipantThe Pacers could probably get Millsap for James Posey’s expiring contract.

chevilicousParticipant^ Probably wont have that lineup seeings you are going to have to give up something for sap, but you guys will definately make a push for the playoffs.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantThink about this:
PF – Gasol – 7′
C – Hibbert – 7’3
6th – Psycho T – 6’10Very good and tall roation for their bigs.

festar35ParticipantSay Pacers get Gasol then a three team trade of Hibbert to Grizz, Mayo to Jazz and Milsap to Indiana.

Charlie SheenParticipantI’d say sign Gasol, trade for Millsap, trade Hibbert to the Knicks for Landry Fields(perfect 2 Guard for them)
Collison
Fields
Granger
Millsap
Gasol
Hill
George
Hansbrough
Foster
They’d compete with the Bulls for the Central Division

fastdanParticipantHibbert for Milsap would be perfect if Indy lands Gasol.
Hibbert could allow Kanter to slide into the 4, which would creat huge mismatches.
Milsap could play some 3, still giving Hansbrough 24-28 minutes off the bench at the 4, and giving himself 32-35 between the 2 F spots.
I’m really excited about both of these teams, and trade that will help both would be great.

ProudGrandpaParticipantOnly problem is, A) Josh McRoberts get left in the cold. People really underrate him, but he is a solid guy coming off the bench. He shoots well and he is very athletic.
And B) having Marc Gasol might bring back the old days of Jermaine O’neal. The ball gets forced into the slow big guy and the offense gets all clogged up.
Overall though, Gasol seems like a good pickup. As for Millsap, seems kind of like overkill. Hibbert, Gasol, Millsap, Hansbrough, Foster, and McRoberts? I dunno.

IndianaBasketballParticipantA) McRoberts probably won’t be brought back. According to the reports, the Lakers are considering signing him.
B) Gasol and JO are different players. Gasol a much better passer, plus he isn’t the go-to offensive player that JO was.
Foster is a free-agent and will attract a lot of attention from contending teams, BUT I hope the Pacers bring him back. Hibbert would probably be traded.

JoeWolf1I saw Roy Hibbert partying with Detlef Schremf and Aziz Ansari , he obviously didn’t take his training seriously in the offseason and now they are trying to light a fire under his butt.
In all seriousness, this is surprising, Hibber isnt a top teir center, but he’s one of the better young guys in the league. They must plan on moving him or are entertaining offers if they are serious about bringing Gasol in.

HitsterParticipantWhen I read about the Pacers being after Marc Gasol, I wondered how Roy Hibbert would fit in, I haven’t heard anything about them being unhappy with him but if they bribg Gasol in then unless he can play PF there is a logjam at C. Gasol and Hibbert together would have a huge presence but against smallball teams I could see them being exposed and together the offence would need to be very much half court.
I rate both guys fairly highly but I don’t see Marc Gasol being a huge upgrade over Roy Hibbert and Indianna would have to pay top dollar to get Gasol or send assets to the Grizz if they did a sign and trade. But with Kevin Pritchard now being at the Pacers, I wonder if he might be able to extract high value for Hibbert if he was moved on.
Hibbert was picked 15th in the 2008 draft so still has a year left on his rookie deal and if they traded him for picks, the Pacers would surely look for some sort of likely top 10 pick.
The Pacers have cap space finally and with a young core can take their time and not rush into any hasty deals.
