JunkYardDogParticipantI ‘m hearing some rumours (from different sources) about memphis using the amnesty on OJ Mayo… and I’m very surprised. Why would you want to pay a young man to leave and play elsewhere (maybe a contender in the same conference or division) ?
He has not lived up all the expectations but he is no lenny cooke or corey benjamin !!! He can score, create and be a legitimate offensive weapon. Therefore he seems to have accept the competition between him and allen (and coming from the bench). So you can keep him, and use him as an offensive creating threat from the bench.
He ‘s making less than 6M $, so you won’t save big money and is in his last year, so he’s not killing your cap for the futur. I don’t think he prevents you from extend z-bo or gasol ?
In the worst case (team atmosphere, playing time…) you can still trade him against something usefull (even some 2nd round draft picks).
The grizz’ should think twice before wasting this amnesty for so few benefit. It could be usefull in the future : conley is under contract till 2016 (7-10M $) gay 2015 (16-19 M $). see what’s happenning with roy in portland….

Charlie SheenParticipantI’d trade him to Chicago for Charlotte’s 1st Rounder and Ronnie Brewer

jeff416ParticipantWhere did you hear that? I highly doubt they use the amnesity clause on him when they can just trade him and get something in return.

gopack10ParticipantMayo is only under contract for one more year and it is at a reasonable $5.6 million I believe. Why would you use the amnesty clause on a guy like that? They aren’t trying to get under the cap or anything and he would still bring back a lot via trade.
Give a source if you are going to post stuff like that.

TallmanNYCParticipantThis rumor doesn’t make any sense at all. Amnesty is very expensive and will only be used on totally dog contracts. Mayo’s contract isn’t even close to being a dog, especially with only one year left to go.

jjonzParticipant1. The CrackHead asking 4 change @ the Corner Store…. In Tom & Jerry’s Voice "Don’t you believe it"
2. Uncle Leroy. Enough Said
3. Wendy Williams Enough Said
4. Chris Broussard/J.A Adande/ M. Wilbon. Now we can start listening, however even then you must take what they say with a grain of salt, unless it’s from a High up Exucutive.
This story smells like 3 day old Fish thats been left out. Why in Tar-Nation would the Grizz give up a Top 3 Value pick for nothing who avg 19/18ppg in his 1st two years, who in the right situation could avg between 18-22ppg as the 2/3rd option.

IndianaBasketballParticipantPeople are starting to talk about the amnesty like they were talking about anthrax.

fredrock34ParticipantIf memphis is really looking to get rid of Mayo it would be through a trade that would give them some cap releave to sign marc gasol to a long-term contract deal or match some ridiculous offer that I know somebody is going to offer him. with all the 2 guards in the Memphis roster it would make sence to get something out of OJ Mayo before he leaves in a year when he becomes a free-agent. The celtics could offer memphis some cash since they have deep pockets and a first round draft pick since they have 2 with the clippers pick next year. OJ Mayo could provide the scoring off the bench that the celtics need this year to compete for a championship and replace ray allen at the 2 spot next year when they go into full rebuilding mode.

grizz32ParticipantThis has no truth to it and until you give at least one of your multiple sources you are just starting a false rumor.

aamir543Participant^ Aww, you hurt my feelings…………… lol
I don’t know where you are hearing these rumors from, but I’ll still believe that they are exploring the idea, however I highly doubt that they actually will use the amnesty on him. He is so talented, that I don’t even think that he’s scraped the surface of all the talent and skills he has. If he hits waivers, then the Clippers, the Pacers, or someone should bid the whole 6 million on him. If the Clippers can start Mayo at the point, and Gordon at the two, with Aminu, Jordan, and Griffin. I know those teams don’t need a guard, but I still feel that its worth placing a bid on him, but again, I doubt that the Grizz would place it on him.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantLOL, if this was even close to legit rumour I’m willing to bet that at least 5 teams in the league (Orlando included) would try to trade for OJ rather that see him hit the amnesty waiver.
