UCONN vs. FSU

 Boatright was awesome. He looks way more comfortable running the offense on the fly than Shabazz does.  Uconn got lucky with this win today though.  Their offense looked miserable at the end of the game.

Shabazz Napier had 26, 5, and 4

Jeremy Lamb had 19 and went 7-9 and  3-5 from 3

Andre Drummond had 12pts, 10reb, 6blks, and went 5-8

It’s good to see Lamb playing good ball after his awful performance against Central Florida.  I think moving him back to the 2-3 was best, as he looked uncomfortable running the offense.  Lamb is a special player, and these numbers represent just how lethal he can be for Connecticut.

It’s also good to see Drummond playing well.  People were really writing him off because of his slow start and his potential to be the best player in the draft class.  Averaging a double double is something I can see Drummond doing for most of his career at UConn and even in the NBA for that matter.  The 6 blocks also doesn’t hurt his cause.

Nice to see some love for Snaer, I’ve been hoping for a breakout season for him because I think he could be a great Tony Allen type player in the NBA who makes the little plays and does the dirty work defensively. Would hate to see him slip through the cracks.

I agree, definitely a better shooter/scorer than Allen.

He’s not as good a ball-handler as Tony Allen though, and he’s not as good a scorer either. He does play tough D and he’s competes very hard. Even though he’s a little wild.

And people went crazy over Lamb struggling against UCF, but he faced a super tough FSU D and was amazingly efficient. Goes to show you not to call a prospect overrated after 1 bad game, a game where he played out of position alot of the time.

 Good game from Lamb I see, but my only problem is that it wasn’t just one poor shooting performance he’s had. Before tonight it was 2 good out of 5. I could be wrong and he may get his stuff together and become more consistent.

Damn he can’t have 2 bad shooting games in November?

Drummond had a nice game, got some boards, blocked a ton of shots, and altered many more.  One thing about his offensive game I mentioned a few days ago, he needs to become a lot more assertive and aggressive down low.  He’s the biggest and strongest guy on the court, and all too often I see him not fighting for position down low or demanding the ball.  With his size and strength he should be much more aggressive.  There’s no reason why he shouldn’t be able to get prime position in the paint any time he wants.  Watching him post up he’s kind of soft and lacks aggression.  He needs a mean streak in him where he battles for position and imposes his will against teams.  When he starts doing that, he will be awfully tough to stop.
