Quincy Miller has been the most impressive to me so far, but it’s still very early.

I liked Quincy Miller over Harrison Barnes when the season started as a prospect and I still feel that way. I think Miller has the talent and skills to crack the top 3 selection, although I doubt he over takes Drummond for the #1 spot.

I thought Quincey Miller was overhyped at 1st..But the games that i’ve seen him play, since he has been at Baylor,He’s a top 5 prospect..Those Durant comparisions are off,he’s not as gifted as KD yet..He’s more in the Rashard Lewis mold…I think he can average 20 pts as a rookie…

 Myck Kabongo has HUGE trouble with finishing around the rim right now. And he’s struggling with TO’s, he’s playing a little too fast. He shoul adjust though as the season goes on.

Quincy Miller is a huge talent offensively, just off raw tools. He has some moves and smoothness about him already and he is a God-given talent as a scorer, but I think he’ll slow down in the Big 12 slate and when Perry Jones returns. I don’t think he has the polish or maturity to upstand both of those factors, although he will still be reasonably productive. Baylor’s guards aren’t good enough to help him withstand a slump either by getting him easy shots. Miller also is a bad defender right now in that Baylor zone.

Austin Rivers is one-dimensional. He has upside as a combo guard who can score, but right now he just scores. And he has to work on oing that more efficient. He struggles with the understanding of helpside D, and with picking his spots. He overdrives, and he gets tunnel vision. He has a quick crossover and a great 1st step but he sometimes doesn’t beat his man clean enough to try some of the attempts he does (like laying up with his right hand on the left side of the rim with the D right on him, for example). Rivers also plays little D. He will improve, but he has some things to learn and adjust to. I think he’ll stand out once the game speed slows down for him.

Anthony Davis is a freak of nature. He’s not super skilled or a guy you run a bunch of offense through, but he blocks shots CRAZY, runs the floor, and can score without needing plays run for him. 

Marquis Teague is a scoring PG who needs to work on playing at more than speed to better utilize his great quickness and athleticism, and improving his shooting and decision-making. He will also improve as the season wears on, but he will be a little TO prone no matter what.

Tony Wroten seems like a PG on offense who needs to work on his shooting to better play on the wing. Abdul Gaddy is the safer PG option because he is a pure decision maker who plays the game at a pace that benefits teammates and feeds the squads other scorers. Wroten is adequate enough on the wing to play there, but he HAS to get better shooting. And show more toughness driving the lane.

Adonis Thomas is athletic, and a mismatch at the PF spot, but his skill level is a work in progress. He has a great motor and a nice frame already. 

Kidd-Gilchrist is a very good all-around player. His shooting form is ugly, but he looks good handling and passing the ball. He also is already a very good defender,which is an accomplishment for a true Fr.

my take on some of the pac 12 freshman:

Wroten does have the amazing passing ability. But his jumper is a flat footed set shot that isnt very accurate when left open and absolutely awful when hes shooting contested or off balance. He also attacks the rim really weak. Gaddy is not only the better player right now but imo the better pro porspect as well.

Josiah turner of arizona has lookved very average and has been benched for the combination kyle fogg and jordin mayes. But dont give up on turner. He has some great handles, good size potential to be a great defender. He just doesnt do anything other then getting all the way to teh rim at this point and he looks unconfident.

nick johnson of arizona looks very solid. A great athlete he gets lots of lift on his jumper and has a feathery smooth release. He can become a great shooter. He is small and weak driving though and cant play through any sort of contact.

jabari brown of oregon was expected to come in right away and be a leader on oregon and put big scoring numbers. I have only seen about 10 minutes of them so far vs vanderbilt and he didnt stand out at all. His 6ppg is nothing special yet.

I think the All American snub Dorian Finney Smith in the most underrated freshman. I havent watched any of his games with Virginia Tech although it seems to be proving he can be a big time player . In game one and game three of the season he scored a combined 24 points with, 26 rebounds and 10 assists. Game 2 was in a game VT won by 50 which wasnt even a competitive enviroment he scored 1 point with, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. To have a prospect with all around talent at his age that is willing to learn should end up being quite coveted by NBA teams. If he can become a consistant 1st or 2nd option there is no reason why he shouldnt be considered a lottery pick prospect most likely in 2013.

 Completely unrelated, but I just saw a 7-year old girl that looked a lot like Blake Griffin, dark red hair and all.

I watched Finney-Smith’s game versus ETSU and I agree with you OhCanada he is a terrific prospect. He is a long small forward who has many facets to his offensive game. He is athletic enough to finish in traffic and despite his skinny appearance he seems to be pretty strong. There were many times in that game where he would grab a rebound and then push the break or set up the half court offense himself which I was really impressed with. He can also hit jumpshots out to the three point line but VA Tech doesnt really need him to shoot from there. Against the 2-3 zone of ETSU, Finney-Smith played all four positions effectively at one point, lowpost, highpost, wing and top of the key. He played smart basketball and showed his great passing skills, especially at the high post where he registered many assists to the low post and wing. All in all, he has a tremendous offensive impact with his high skill level and versatility.

Defensively he was also very good. He was called upon to guard ETSU’s best player and point guard who he successfully shut down. Finney Smith showed good lateral quickness on the defensive end and used his length to disrupt shots. Rebounding is a big part of his game too, he has earned two double double’s in three games. I think Finney Smith projects as a late first rounder for this year if he were to come out, but he could be as high as late lottery by next year. I hope this was what you were looking for, OhCanada.

I’ve been pretty impressed with Chane Behanan so far. His progression has been terrific and he looks like a great fit in Louisville’s system. Obviously he is undersized for the next level but like guys such as Dejaun Blair, Paul Millsap and Chuck Hayes have proven you can be short big in the NBA and still succeed with strength, motor and proper technique.

Im really impressed with Derrick Gordon of Western Kentucky his first game he goes of for 25. If the name sounds familiar this is Kidd-Gilchrists teammate at St. Patricks. I think this guy will be a future steal in the draft he jas that killer instinct.

 I can’t wait for VA Tech to play K-State. That is the game that I will be able to tell about him. I will really be watching everything closely in a game like that. It will tell alot

Otto Porter has been stuffing the stat sheet for Gtown, and JT3 has let the frosh play early for us. Look for a few to put the nation on notice in Maui tonight. (My guess is Whittington and Hopkins, for the others).
