So basically the players rejected the deal because it would restrict them from making super teams.

I’m very disappointed in the NBA players today.

actually break it down.  It wasn’t as bad as the last one I’m told.  If that’s what they are giving them then I as a member of the NBPA would counter with year 5 opt out clause and a maximum of 53% BRI "IF" the league does well and the suggested minimum 49% if not…  If the sign and trade deals aka "Mega Teams" doesn’t start till year 3 then I don’t understand the big deal?  Majority of the a-holes who are leaving and going to other teams like that are from the ’03-’05 draft classes… I don’t see any other superstars doing that to their teams…  The biggest risk that this does have is the Clippers/Hornets <—– Those type teams will still not try to compete to get players and will sit back collect money while being terrible owners…  Then at the end of the day WHY do this to benefit teams like that?  I still think this is BS and this deal should have been put in place in July not weeks into the season…  We might not get the NBA this year!!!! While the NHL is LOVING this… They took out majority of the stuff in the Staples Center and replaced it with a KINGS lounge…  Why?  There is no NBA… This is all bad… I’m hurt…

I’m salty. That’s all I’m going to say. I’m salty at BOTH sides. Stern, Silver, Holt, Gilbert, Fisher, Hunter… All of them should be ashamed that they couldn’t come up with a way to split these billions.

I will say this though… Stern and the owners pushed, demanded, bullied, gave ultimatums, deadlines, etc… Depending on how you look at it (negotiating from old CBA or breaking it down from scratch), the players gave all of the concessions. They’ve been in concessionary bargaining the whole time. The owners really were trying to strong arm them and I really don’t think they negotiated in good faith. This is what they’re getting from the players in return. Decertification. The NBA REALLY underestimated the resolve of the players in the situation. I think the fans did too… Thinking the players were going to crack, etc. But what they don’t realize is that Hunter has been preparing players for this for years. I’ve been hearing tons of players saying that they were saving in anticipation for a lockout.

This all could’ve been handled a lot better on both sides. Now, we all lose. It’s really sad, and it’ll be interesting to see how the league recovers from this. I’ve read and heard reports that a deal could still be reached though.

 I doubt that the deal is going to getting any better with decertification. I agree that the owners bullied the players but it seems the players are rejecting the deal because of it. The proposed deal was fair considering the economy. This was bad on both sides but this recent news the players went to the owners level and now everybody misses out. 

I don’t understand how grown men who get paid to put a ball through a hoop can be so petty and flippant about the league with the greatest earning potential for their chosen sport. I’m wishing bad things on the union leadership right now, they should have put this one to a vote at the very least.

I can’t wait until financial documents come out from the ownership during legal proceedings…then we’ll really see how ‘genuine’ everyone is. Personally, I want to see Sterling’s records the most.

So what he covered his ass in Court, the players HAVE NOT negotiated in good faith at all, they have been hampering the deal since the beggining…TUCK u mention the Owners strong arming the players like the Players didn’t try strong arming the Owners as well, the Players just didn’t realize they were about to be eaten alive by the Great White…I agree Stern and the owners are playing The PR game better than the Players but They are right in this Case, The Players decertifying is a foolish move on their part and will bite them in the arse…The Players in The NFL Lockout did not win the War in their Lock out By Any Means and the NBA players will soon take a large Hit to their Ego’s and Bank Accounts…

 The Players will Lose in Court because from Day they have NOT been bargaining in good faith, and the deal in place is a very fair one indeed…It comes down to the TOP controlling the Thinking of those at the Bottom…Players like Kobe,KG,Paul Pierce and D Wade are fighting for their MAX contracts and Super Team System in Place…look at who’s been involved with train wrecking the Negotiations on the players side…they clearly want the current system to stay in place because It benefits them the most…whats funny is the major changes that the Owners are pushing for would not be implemented for 3 years(allowing those players and Super Teams to rape and pillage for another 3 YEARS!!!)

Sorry you are wrong, dead wrong… The max contracts have nothing to do with this… And all jokes aside this is  has more to do with the "little" guys than the Superstars anyway…  The players have been negotiating in good faith… This is the first proposal that Stern has openly came out about with all the details… Saying you will go to 47% if the current deal isn’t taken is not acting in good faith…  Everything that Stern said he accomodated on wasn’t going to be an issue anyway… Having guarenteed contracts and keeping players max levels wasn’t going to change as long as they stay within the Salary Cap…  Really the ish was played well by Stern’s camp from jump and he won… But I just wish he stop flexin how bright he is on ESPN and get a real deal done… The players need to accept this and just change a few things around… I can’t imagine losing at least a whole Billion this season is better than losing it over 6 years… They both are idiots at this point pride will be the death of the NBA sooner or later…

Just wondering if the players union opts to de-certify, are the players contacts voided?

It’s truely sad, I’ve said it before that i think the majority of these players are extremelly out of touch of this entire situation, and they continue to prove it so. From the countless comments of players wanting to move to larger markets cause they cant compete in smaller markets, ALL during the lockout. If these players truely beleive these thing’s, and state these in interviews, and through twitter, how can anybody take their voice seriously during a negotiation period. Also from Etan Thomas who had the nerve to compare the NBPA baragaining stance to 99 percent occupy movement… Good god really???? you compare your situation of bargaining over billions to those people without jobs and struggling to keep their families out of the streets. To Kessler the players lawyer calling david stern racist, this whole party is so out of touch it’s a goddamn circus. The owners were at least smart enough to throw fines at any one of their owners who even dared open their mouth about the situation, cause they knew some tool like dan gilbert would make them look a fool at every turn. If the league has to present documents showing that as many teams lost money as they say they did, this is going to be the single most monumental mistake that will tarnish the game at least over the next decade.
