KHAM83ParticipantIf Orlando thinks they are going to lose Howard, I think it’s better to move him now before the season starts. Reason being, this year’s draft has a plathura of big men that Orlando should want a high draft pick with the best opportunity to land one of them. ***If you’re thinking why not wait until seasons end and then trade Howard for a high pick, do you think Howard would be willing to go to a team that loss enough games to recieve a high draft pick?***
Orlando Gets: Russell Westbrook, Kendrick Perkins, Nate Robinson, Cole Aldrich
Oklahoma Gets: Howard, Nelson
Orlando–> Gets Westbrook, a young super-star to build around, who could play the 1 (when they use the amnesty rule to dump Arenas) or possibly the 2 where I think he’s better fit. If he starts at the 1, this is the best way to get Reddick out there as his shooting compliments Westbrook’s penetration and Westbrook, who is a great defender, can gaurd the opposing team’s 2G. Orlando also gets two young big men in Perkins and Aldrich who has good potential. Nate Robinson is the 6 man and contract expires year’s end. This team wouldn’t win much right now in the east, but with that high draft pick they can get one of the many talented PFs (Davis, Drummond, Sullinger, etc.) to add to their front court as well as enough cap space to sign a max contract.
Thunder–> With Howard inside the middle, how can you think about doubling Durant? How can you think about doubling Howard with James Harden on the perimeter? This trio compliments each other perfectly. Also with Howard and Ibakka inside, they have the best interior defensive team in the league. Add in Nelson, you replace Westbrook with a pg who will not only defer to Durant/Howard/Harden, but you have a much better outside shooter. Also note, while Howard claims he’ll like a big market, he’s more about winning. I believe he will love to play alongside Durant.
***As far as Howard not wanting to go to a team who recieved a high draft pick, the Clippers do own the TWolves 1st rounder. Its possible that the Clippers can be a playoffs team while receiving a high draft pick that Orlando will like. Playing in LA, along side Blake Griffin will entice Howard, but I dont see the Clipps willing to add the players to make a deal worth it to the Magics.

ProudGrandpaParticipantIs this a move to enhance their chances in the "Andre Drummond" sweepstakes?
Cause this would only make them worser.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantIf Howard is out, then Harden and maybe Ibaka would have to be involved…
Westbrook, Harden, Robinson, Perkins, and maybe more…

HitsterParticipant8th Deadly Sin has put a good idea out there, if the deal was was some combo of Harden, Nazr, Robinson, Aldrich and Perkins plus maybe a pick for say Howard and Turko then the Thunder get a core trio of KD, Westbrook and D12 and still have a decent supporting cast. Whilst Orlando get a few good building blocks in Harden and possibly Aldridge, a couple of expiring deals and a solid C in Perkins and they clear Turko’s contract.

FritzParticipantCould the Magic Possibly get more? yes most likely. But when you trade away a top tier superstar like Dwight Howard its almost impossible to get fair value back. Adding Nelson I think may call for more players from the Thunder, but if the Magic dont get rid of Howard they are going to lose him for a lot less if not nothing at all. Everyone is down on Westbrook from his terrible shot selection during the playoffs but people seem to forget how damn good this guy is and hes got so much potential to keep growing.
Westbrook didnt even start for his high school team till his Junior year and couldnt even dunk till the summer before his senior year. The rate that he’s been improving is amazing and he’s already one of the top players in the league. If Im the Magic, who else could I get better than this deal? Andrew Bynum? hell no, Magic need to rebuild and unless theres a John Wall or Blake Griffin coming back in return for Howard I dont think your going to find a better young piece to build around then Westbrook.
