WrecklessParticipantRobert Carter, ranked No. 21 in the ESPNU 100 for 2012, has decided to play at Georgia Tech for new coach Brian Gregory. Carter (Snellville, Ga./Shiloh), a 6-foot-8 forward who wanted to stay close to home, had Florida, Georgia and Georgia Tech as his finalists. "I have a big family — six sisters and one brother — and my entire family is in the state of Georgia. My heart just felt Georgia Tech was right for me," Carter said. Since Gregory took over at Georgia Tech, he and his staff have made recruiting in Georgia a priority. It has paid off, as the Yellow Jackets already have pledges from Marcus Hunt (Riverdale, Ga./North Clayton), who is ranked 59th in the ESPNU 100 and Chris Bolden (Norcross, Ga./North Gwinnett). "If we work hard and stay together, we have a chance to do something special," Carter said of the recruiting class. Gregory and his staff made Carter a priority and zeroed in on him in the spring, but really couldn’t follow him until the summer. "They were at almost every one of my games this summer. It showed me I was important to the program," Carter said.
Probably the biggest get since Derrick Favors for Georgia Tech. His game reminds me of a little Trey Thompkins, any opinions on this guy?

JNixonParticipantHe went to my Dad’s HS his 1st 3 years, and I’ve seen him play a few times (he has been big ever since he was a Soph., him and another teammate who is less touted).
Carter is well-built in his lower body, and he knows how to seal down low by using his butt (pause). He has a soft touch and upside as a back to basket scorer and as a hi-lo passer. He’s not very athletic or tall for an NBA prospect level PF, but he’s still growing and it’s still early. He has good length though, and he’s developing his face-up game just as much as his low post is. Trey Thompkins is who’s always compared to and I can see that, he’s probably a little less talented at the same stage. Still, he should develop into a very good college player. More so on offense
