IndianaBasketballParticipantYou can be a starter and still be considered a role player though, can’t you? I mean, Ben Wallace started 49/54 games he played in last season.

I know Jordan is the G.O.A.T., but sorry, I was just drooling at the prospect at having Hakeem and Shaq and in the block, with Durant on the wing, with the JET knocking down clutch shot after shot, and John Wall leading Fastbreak after Fastbreak, epic team.

Steph Curry (Young stud)
Mike Miller (Curent vet)
Kevin Durant (Current All-Sar)
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (HOFer)This team would go four-out and just bomb away from the perimeter to stretch the floor, thereby creating all kinds of room for the league’s all time leading scorer to go to work in his office and drop a diverse, sundry array of skyhooks into the twine from here, there, and everywhere.

iguapops420ParticipantLO isnt a good enough defender to start the 4. It’s why he’s best at 6th man IMO. too easily backed down and gets lazy every other year.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 11/03/2011 - 2:28pm #606460

mikeyvthedonParticipantShaq played with worse. Plus, seeing that my team has all of 5 players, who is to say he would not be a 6th man? On my fake team. That does not have one. But, thanks for the input. Seriously, you have a team with those guys, and you are worried about PF? Lamar Odom started at PF for a team that made the NBA Finals, if you forget, not to mention his contributions seem to worked otherwise. Dwight Howard had a team that made the Finals with Rashard Lewis at PF. Plus, he was not playing with Michael Jordan. I think my fake team would do just fine, thank you.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 11/03/2011 - 5:50pm #606518
aamir543ParticipantShaq and Hakeem in the post, KD on the wing, and Wall running the point, that team would kill everybody.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 11/03/2011 - 6:07pm #606521

iguapops420ParticipantFunny Mikey that when both Shard and LO started at the 4, both teams lost. Odd. Trust me, unless you have Hakeem or Dwight or a legit STOPPER at the 5, you aint winning with Odom. I’ve watched nearly every game he’s played in the past 6 years and he just isn’t a winner at the 5. BTW, Haslem was good defensively in 06. And that title was won on Wade’s back, not Shaq’s. Samake Walker was a terrific defender but had no hands similar to Kwame Brown that’s why he was good with Shaq for 20-25 minutes a game and a TERRIFIC defender/passer/shooter in Horry, followed by two fantastic defensive minded hustle players who could hit the 15 footer in AC Green and Horace Grant. And I suppose yes you could have LO as 6th man and would be smart to do so, but I was taking this as being a 5v5 setting. That’s all. And hell you may win. But BTW, no team is going to allow SHaq to play second fiddle to ANYONE in his prime. I’ll quote Phil Jackson on that one from "The Last Stand". Your team has studs, but MJ and Shaq would blow up worse than Kobe/Shaq did.
I understand we’re just picking 5 guys, but I like balance and guys who are elite at a certain role that don’t mind a smaller role.

TRC1991Participanthey symbol way to fail to read… the guy said your young stud can NOT have made an nba all-star game
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/04/2011 - 3:25am #606551

mikeyvthedonParticipantBut, regardless, we were supposed to choose 5 guys. I chose Odom, but lets make a deal. I give you Udonis Haslem. I’ll take Samaki Walker. I move Odom to my 6th man spot, you keep your same starting line-up. Make any more sense? I think my point is, I saw Shaq win with less than stellar 4’s next to him. I also saw Michael Jordan have incredible success with a guy named Toni Kukoc coming off of the bench. He was a better shooter than Lamar, but Lamar was a better rebounder and he could play that same point forward role. You will also notice that while Odom might not have started on those Lakers championship team in 2009, he played the most minutes behind anyone not named "Bryant" or "Gasol". In 2010, he played more minutes than Andrew Bynum. I have a feeling he would play a nice role on my team.
Now, I know that Kobe and Shaq were conflicting personalities, but I have a feeling that Michael Jordan and Shaq would have much more of a mutual understanding. Having that much talent could implode, but it also could flourish. It is about winning, and if I had my team with Samaki Walker starting at PF, I like my chances against your team with Udonis Haslem as your 6th man. Personal preference. Nothing is set in stone, but my team matches up pretty well to yours, and when Shaq was in his prime, he was not exactly a patsy in the middle on either end of the court.

IndianaBasketballParticipantWith Shaq, MJ and KD, I don’t think it really matters who starts at power forward and point guard lol.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/04/2011 - 5:32am #606564

mikeyvthedonParticipantThat was my point, Indiana. Glad you got it.
