Mitch Mcgary (#2 overall) and T.J. Warren (#23 overall) are commiting on Thursday. McGary is choosing between Michigan, Duke, and Florida (which he has not visited), and Warren is choosing between Georgetown, Florida, NC State, and UNC. Where do you think they will go? They are really good friends so is it a package deal for Florida?

McGary – Michigan… all rumors seem to be indicaitng he will become a Wolverine. It was his top choice from the very beginning, but it seems like his parents really like Duke.

Warren – NC State. Mitch gave it away last week when he said Warren will most likely stay in North Carolina. However, since UNC already has 4 commitments with Brice’s verbal commitment, NC state has become Warren’s top choice. His dad went there also so that might be a huge factor for choosing NC state.

I hope McGary goes to Michigan only cause I really don’t want to see another top prospect, white, big man go to Duke again. The repeatitiveness takes away from the fun of it all. Plus, a combo of McGary and Tim Hardaway Jr would be really fun to watch.

I heard Jerry West on a Sports Talk Show during the summer compare Mitch to a young Bill Walton..West is very good at judging talent..But thats high praise for a kid that wasnt on anyone’s radar 2 years ago…

Right after he saw those UA Football jerseys (I know that is the state flag, and your avatar, but they were truly awful. Also, I heard he did not feel it was a good fit for him)

Giving yourself a +1 after everything you post. It was a joke, though, obviously one you did not find very funny. But, I don’t know, maybe do your research and realize that he had Duke, Florida and Michigan in his top 3 schools. I thought he was a Maryland lean for a long time, but he did not feel the system or personnel meshed with him. Happens to a lot of schools. You still are getting Shaq Cleare at Center, a nice combo forward in Jake Layman and Seth Allen. The last time my school won a championship was 1939 (First NCAA tournament, when it was not as big of a deal as it is now). You won in 2002, you have a good coach in Mark Turgeon and you lost out on a big recruit. We lost out on Brandon Ashley, Rosco Allen and Danuel House. Sucks. The explanation usually is, they liked another school better. But, your question was brilliant to begin with. I would give myself a +1 if I came up with it.

well for one, maryland is not my team…im a cuse fan…

also i really dont care about points on a basketball message board or what u have to say about it…smh lol

and also, i think its pretty obvious he liked another school better, i was asking why maryland was off his radar completely after it seemed like a lock some months back…

i think ill give myself another +1 and ruin ur day haha

    Let me break it down:

    • You using the argument that you do not care about points, while giving yourself points, makes little to no sense
    • Points are meant to be a gauge of what the community sees as content that they want on the site. When someone consistently writes things for the other users to either approve of or answer, it is just in poor taste to already give yourself a pat on the back for doing so. It defeats the purpose of having points.
    • I find when people tend to give themselves points, they are insecure about what others think of them or just want approval incredibly badly. Well, if you do not care about points and want people to take you seriously, than realize that everything you write is not brilliant. Accept the good with the bad, realize that if you get negative feedback through the point system, it should trigger that maybe your content needs improvement.
    • The fact is, if you do indeed give yourself a +1, others more than likely follow. If you do it to yourself, you are in little to no way improving as a poster, and you more than likely react incredibly badly to constructive criticism. The reason myself, or someone else, might call you out on this is to say, you do not have to. I want every poster to be the best they can possbly be. If you do not care about how many points you get, but rather use them as a gauge for either seeing what the community likes or in what way you could possibly improve your content, it is better for everybody, especially you.

Hope that breaks it down. I do not intentionally try to start beefs, and while I have a decent memory, I am very willing to forgive. Sorry if I may have called you out, but I feel that you should not have to try to gain points by giving them to yourself. It is a system some people on here get very competitive about, but when used the proper way, it can be very beneficial. Rather than get angry when a person gives you a negative, use it as motivation or as a way to improve as a poster in the future. I know that if you did indeed stop, I think you may get even more positive response to your posts. I was not the only person that had noticed you doing it, and if you stopped, than I am sure we would be happy to award points if you make solid points or posts. So, you can remain upset, or live and learn. Either way, I hope we can put this behind us and I hope that this post hopefully gets people to understand that while points are not worth anything, if used properly they serve as a benefit to this board.

if you wouldve just said something like that before instead of trashing my post, i wouldve been fine with it. honestly i didnt know people really cared about points but if its going to upset people i will stop doing it…but to make assumptions about my insecurities based on giving myself a +1 on a message board is overtkill and doesnt make much sense either. i never claimed to be a basketball mastermind and consider my posts as just an opinion or reporting (therefore there is no right or wrong)…in all honesty it was kind of a joke at first but i see all the negs coming my way from it so i guess it really does matter to most people on here, so my apologies to those people.

Just said I found that was the case. Trying to get to the root of everything, made no assumption about you other than your previous responses on the board. Sorry if I went overboard in my description, just wanted you to know that it was nothing you had to do, and it makes it seem like a person has a higher opinion of themselves. I tend to react harshly to people who seem to display an arrogance about themselves. You do not seem arrogant at all, but when someone keeps giving themselves a +1, people can get that idea.

Wanted to give a perspective on the situation. Sometimes it is really hard to type that out as a quick explanation, because people cannot see the tone one says it in. I am sorry if you did indeed feel blind sided and I agree I probably could have done things differently. I take no offense, and I honestly appreciate that you wrote something about it. I feel that giving ones self credit on a message board can send the wrong message. Not at all the end of the world, and I appreciate your response and am definitely cool with how you handled things just now.
