Poenix Suns, what do you expect from them?

 If Nash is traded, this turns into a team with only roleplayers, albeit some very solid roleplayers. Regardless of what Nash means to the team, I do no see the Suns as a playoff team and think they should trade Nash, now that they have secured a point guard of the future in Brooks. Trading Nash for some future players might be hurtful to him, but its much better then him leaving in free agency to sign with Miami instead…… 

Nash will be in high demand around next seasons trade deadline, probably by Miami mainly, but I think the Lakers should show interest as well. Derrek Fisher is no longer an effective player, and Steve Blake is no more than a backup.

I don’t like that roster, I don’t see any potential : 

nash is still great, gortat proved himself as a top center, dudley is a good role player…. but that’s all.

lopez regressed, frye warrick childress pietrus are all limited role players.

brooks is a sg traped in a small pg body and will asked for big money.

therefore they still don’t decide to change their jerseys and come back to the old fashioned kj-jk one 😉

I think its better for them to trade Nash and blow this season and basically build off of Marcus Morris ,Marcin Gortat,Next years draft pick and what ever they get for Nash

Maybe if they get a lotto pick for Nash and the Suns get a top 5 pick from having a bad season without Nash they could maybe draft Harrison Barnes and a pg like Marquis Teague this could be there lineup

They lack a good scorer who is able to create his own offense on the wing or in the paint.
If Nash resigns they could go after either T-Mac or Michael Redd and look if they can revive their careers the same as Grant Hill did in Phoenix.

I expect 108 points a game, while allowing 110 a game, right around .500, but that is assuming Nash will be there the whole season.

As a Phoenix fan, I hope that we can resign Brooks provided he does not get a ridiculous offer from elsewhere. Thanks to Orlando we now have a solid C in Gortat and decent frontcourt depth, I’d assume that Carter will be paid off, he was a great player and can still do a job somewhere but not on his current deal.

If we could trade Carter for a young piece then that would be great but I assume that Phoenix have to pick up the option or not. Nash will turn 38 next year so now is surely the time to get some value for him but even minus him the team will not totally struggle so unless our lottery balls come up maybe Nash is the difference between picking say 14th or 10th. Hopefully if Nash is moved on then we get a pick or two to help rebuild.

Going nowhere with those mid first round picks, 2 very aging HOF and a bunch of role players, why the hell would you be happy to be a 30-35 wins team at very best, 11-12-13th in the west with steve nash, and no futur….

We need a top 5 pick in this great draft class, and another lotto pick if possible, grab 2 futur legit nba starters, quality starters, maybe even all star potential.

Tank in 3 or 4 steps, let the great grant hill goes to the heat(or elsewhere), our 38YO all nba defender last season(he was unreal), give VC his 4MD buy out and let him walk far away(not a RJ wit the spurs situation), trade steve nash, the expiring of MP2 and robin lopez to a team who needs to unload some hideous contracts(who lack a C, who need to tutor a young developping PG), raptors-pistons are in my mind, i want badly those rip hamilton or jose calderon type of contracts…and that 2nd pick.

Then give 25-30 millions over 4 years to aaron brooks, to run the show, humm, run his show(in the next 2 drafts, u should be able to draft an upgrade).

Being weaker at the C spot(depth), without grant hill, MP2, VC and nash should be enough to get that top 5 pick.

Give all the playing time they want to gortat-morris-dudley and childress, they’ll fight to get those 20 wins.

In 2 years u got that base(add brooks-frye), 3 lotto picks rookies(at least 2 starters), and all the money in the world to spent in the free agency to grab one or two marquee free agents…

Men, next year i want some hope, i want a barnes, a lamb or a sullinger, not fringe starters, role players or back ups…

In the last 20+ years, u draft only 3 times in the top 10, that was the matrix, Stat and luol deng, at 9th and 8th, that organisation need that kind of players to rebuild something.

I was a little surprised they got rid of Goran Dragic – i thought he was decent player with potential, learning from steve nash….

Speaking of learning from Steve Nash; I know this would never happen, but can you imagine Nash in Minnesota? The T’Wolves could trade Beasley or Wes Johnson and/or Anthony Randolph, maybe throw in a pick too.

The Suns get a stud scorer in Beasley and gives the franchise a possible face; a potential laden Randolph and some hope for a future.

The T’Wolves get a mentor for Rubio who might even be able to fix his shooting difficulties and ease him into the NBA game. Having Nash could help them regain some respectability, and transition them out of the lottery phase until Rubio is prepared to continue. It would also give Adelman a great floor general to work with.

Honestly, this is a win-win for both teams; in summary, the T’Wolves bring in a vet leader and get some more Ws, and the Suns get players with actual potential to usher in the post-Nash era. But again, would never happen.

Trading Nash for a top 5 pick is defintely what he’s woth but what terrible team would want to trade for a 38 year old PG with an expiring contract? Look at the teams who will probably be in the bottom 5 next year- they are all set at PG.

Pistons: Knight

Minny: Rubio

Sac: Jimmer and Evans

Charlotte: Walker and DJ

Toronto: No one, but they seem to be commited to rebuilding around young talent and giving them all the minutes they can handle, not sticking them behind vets. And they possibly might give Bayless a shot at running the point this year.

I mean yes there’s a possibility that they would want a guy like Nash to mentor these young guys, as it would undoubtably help, but I don’t think they are going to give up a high lottery pick for a essentially an assistant coach and someone to play 30 minutes a game for over 10 million dollars next year. No lottery team is looking for a short term fix at the PG, it’s just not sensible

The teams that will look to trade for him are teams looking for a ring in this upcoming season, and that’s where he deserves to go. Unfortunetly those types of teams usually don’t really have a lot to offer, other then second rate prospects and late first round picks.

And for everyone saying Miami, you need to remember that Miami is over the cap, therefore they would have to send equal salary back to Pheonix, which would mean either they send Miller and Haslem (not at all what Pheonix needs, nor are they worth anywhere near Nash) or to send one of the Big 3, with Pheonix sending additional player(s). Extremely unlikely.

To have got value for Nash the Suns perhaps needed to move him sooner as being an FA next summer he can go to virtually any team if he wanted but in reality there may only be about 5 or so teams in for him given the sort of team he’d want to go to and who already has a PG in situ.

One idea that crossed my mind was perhaps the Suns make a play for CP3 in exchange for Nash and a few throw ins or even take Okafor back in they could include Carter in the trade.

Lets say it was Carter, Gortat and Nash for CP3, Gortat and Okafor – the Suns get CP3 and a couple of good complimentary starters whilst NOH clear all their major contracts, buy out Carter for $4 million and maybe then trade on Nash to help start their rebuilding. If Gortat isn’t included then Phoenix obviously have to send a pick or two and perhaps a pick regardless as they get CP3.

Aaron Brooks could be sign and traded to maybe get an asset in or even sent as part of the deal so NOH can move Nash on and still have a decent PG in place.

 The Hornets could get much more then just clearing the contracts for CP3
