providencefriars1ParticipantThat hurts, we are down to nine guys on scholarship now. Hurts the little chances we had.
Providence College has just announced that the NCAA has ruled that freshman guard Kiwi Gardner is currently ineligible. PC is looking into Gardner’s transcript out of high school.
“Gardner’s initial eligibility coming out of high school does not meet the NCAA Division 1 requirements. Thus, he is not able to appear in competition,” the school said in a release. “The Providence College athletics department has appealed this ruling and is awaiting the decision on the appeal.”
Gardner, who is just one of 10 scholarship players and is seen as a certain member of Ed Cooley’s rotation, is able to practice with the team while his decision is appealed. He will not play tonight when the Friars host Assumption College at Mullaney Gym.0 - Posted on: Wed, 10/26/2011 - 3:26am #605462

mikeyvthedonParticipantHurts to lose a scholarship player, not to mention one with the type of excitement Gardner was sure to bring. Man, 9 scholarships must hurt. Well, at least things seem to be on the up-swing with the HOPEFUL (emphasized word, as I am sure you are aware of as well) additions of Kris Dunn and Ricardo Ledo next year.

PrecociousNeophyteParticipantThat’s a shame. I really wanted to see him play.

JNixonParticipantPretty sizeable loss. He would’ve had an immediate impact at the PG spot, and he would’ve provided a big jolt.
