StF616ParticipantYeah its 3 days Late. But this is a Great day. I finally got my Copy!!! I’ve been waiting this whole time and i finally have it! I didn’t listen to the Leak and just listened to the Album TODAY. It was a great album (of course i’m a biased J. Cole Stan). My favorite Tracks were Dollar and a Dream III, Sideline Story,Rise And Shine,Gods Gift, Lost Ones and Lights Please. I’m not really into the Can’t Get Enough, Work Out joints, though i understand this is needed for radio play. Jay-Z Killed Mr. Nice Watch and Cole was overshadowed. Cole World No Blanket

Wavy BagelsParticipantGreat production, tolerable lyircs, but he is not "God’s Gift". It’s good to see new young talent in the hip-hop genre that provide music actually worth buying again, though.

I May Be WrongParticipantJ.Cole on another level, no stairs or elevators!
I love this album though and I think it lived up to the hype. It’s kinda like he was telling a his whole life story in some sense.

IndianaBasketballParticipantHe’s a better rapper than Drake, just not as commercial.

MagikKnickParticipantI just bought the album too. Crazy part is, i heard the leak, downloaded it. So i had it about 2-3 days before it got released. Still ended up buying it. I support greatness. First album I ever bought.
I only got 1 copy, but Coles fan support is insane….pictures like this surfacing the internet:

thparadoxParticipantFor J Cole, this album is weak. FOR J COLES STANDARDS.
He absolutely murked the mixtapes. This album is diluted for the mainstream… It’s sad, could have been a classic. why are who dat and work out bonus tracks? crazy

juicejc1ParticipantYou have to understand a mixtape can not be an album, he can not make mixtape tracks for an album, if you do that you know that you get, the carter 4. It was built like an album should be, has 4 potential singles, deep tracks like cole is known for, and has tracks where he just straight spits.

hiphopismylifeParticipantHaven’t heard it yet. I’ve heard mixed reviews and was disappointed to see that many of the tracks had already been leaked for some time. I’m a huge J. Cole fan though. Definitely copping that soon either way
It’s a different era in the rap game. Idk if having a classic first album carries as much merit as it did 15 years ago because of how easily accessible free music is. Most the heavyweights who came up in the 90s and early 2000s had classic debuts. Jay, Nas, Big, Pac, Eminem, X, Game, 50, the list goes on. Even Ja Rule came hard his first album lol.
Today, the comparison is unfair to newer artists because guys like Drake and J. Cole are releasing dozens of quality tracks through mixtapes before their first album drops. Even though they try to keep their best work along the way, it’s just not the same.
Drake’s debut was not a classic to me. However, if we were to compile the best work from his mixtapes with a couple of commercial singles, there would be a classic lp in there no doubt. Not even having heard Cole’s cd yet, I can say the same thing applies to him. Friday Night Lights alone would have made for a great cd.
My point being, no matter the result I think he’ll be one of the greats

OMARtheLEGENDParticipantwho buys an album these days………. J Cole is really talented but i hate that it seems he might be on his way to seling out for radio hits that shit is weak.

thparadoxParticipantThe mixtapes had deep tracks, bangers, etc.
I just think it’s silly… between The Warm Up and Friday Night Lights he had enough for a classic debut.
It’s an opportunity lost.
He’s a great artist.. I’m disappointed from his perspective. Hope he has a classic sophmore release

IndianaBasketballParticipantI don’t know how anyone can be disappointed with this cd. J. Cole is the truth…
Not a perfect CD, but just shows his enormous potential as a lyricist. He spits it real and just relates. Real sh*t.

Penny Jr.ParticipantWord, Iam a big J.Cole fan but I new his cd was gonna be a lil different from mixtapes. If you listenin to his interviews you can tell he’s a study of the game and business aspect. He knew he had to make songs like Cant Get Enough, Mr. Nice Watch and more mainstream type feel. But, you cant knock him he still stayed true to some of his old ways and touched on topics others dont. Only, thing I wish he done to was keep some old or leaked tracks off, I understood Lights Please but if you’ve been listenin to Cole for awhile you know what iam talking bout. Its not a classic but a great listenin all the way through, I wish he did do the album like some of his mixtapes tho.
But, if you dont about this go check on youtube J.Cole and Kendrick working on some tracks 2gather, maybe drop a album from what I heard but the song is called Shock the World, it sound outrageous, and we all know Kendrick nots going the mainstream route anytime soon you know this is gonna a banger
