aamir543ParticipantJust saw this article, not too much of a surprise, but a discouraging sign nonetheless.

HitsterParticipantI wonder how short the pre-season could be and we still retain a full regular season. I’d guess maybe 3 or 4 games as a minimum, teams with settled rosters would perhaps be okay as they just play their starters and key players more in pre-season and then maybe finalise spots 11 to 15 as the season gets underway.
But some teams only have a limited number of players under contract and will need to get rosters up to strength so might want a longer pre-season than one which is curtailed. Also FA’s will need to consider options, some of the 2007 draft class are restricted FA’s so their futures need to be sorted out.
Also I believe that the 2008 draft class would have to sign extensions by 31st October aprox if the current rules stay the same so you could have a lot of restricted FA’s next summer. The likes of D-Rose, Westbrook etc jumping ship are minimal but teams will still sniff around them on the off chance and some players may be able to engineer larger deals than if they resigned after year 3 of their rookie deals.
