Who would you say is the better player/prospect0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/21/2011 - 3:04pm #600822
aamir543ParticipantGee has bounced around from bench to bench, and generally gets garbage time on bad teams(Although he did play for the Spurs), whereas Morrow, even though he hasn’t played for any winning teams, he is a lightsout shooter and has averaged double digit scoring in each of his three seasons. Gee may have some value to a team off the bench, however he would need to be in the right system, and in the right role. Morrow is not a starter because he does not play Defense, but will stick in the league because he can knock down every single shot, and is a great boost off the bench. I can see Morrow at best coming off the bench for a contender, hitting 2-3 threes a game, playing 23 minutes a game scoring 10 points a game. With Gee, I see him more as a bigger guard, so maybe he can find a nice place on a lotto team, getting double digit points, cause he had a decent stint with Cleveland at the end of the season.
In the end, Morrow has more upside cause a shooter will always be valuable to any team, and he should be valuable unless he goes all Jason Kapono on us.

Wavy BagelsParticipantYou just cannot ignore Morrow’s shooting percentages (Including shooting over 42% from 3-point range in his first 3 seasons).

TRC1991Participantmorrow…easy
in my mind, alonzo gee only got the minutes he got because of how horrendous cleveland’s other options happened to be (joey graham, anthony parker, manny harris)

JNixonParticipantMorrow has a niche that is among the elite in the NBA with his jumper. Alonzo Gee is a great athlete and he looks the part, but nothing else besides that is anything of note at the NBA level.

PyronParticipantfor my fantasy teams i’ve always picked up morrow late in the drafts cause of his 3pt shooting. but he’s so inconsistant… and ALWAYS when i hit him he goes off and nails a ton of 3s LOL

IndianaBasketballParticipantI was friends with the head manager from Alabama during the Gee, Richard Hendrix, Ronald Steele and Jemareo Davidson run there and got to watch them practice for about three or four days and then watched them play against Big Baby Davis and Tyrus Thomas from LSU… Gee was only a freshman then and he really impressed me.
I mean, he’s built like a F’N tank and has the size/length to play the three… He shoots it well, gets up and down the floor with the best of them, and of course he’s a great/strong athlete.
Morrow is better now and is a definite lock on most teams as a designated shooter, but I think Gee could end up playing a better role on a team down the line.

iguapops420ParticipantMorrow. On a team like LAL or Orlando, his outside shooting could be felt while hiding his defensive shortcomings. IMO, he could actually be a potentially decent team defender similar to Rip Hamilton a few years ago with Detroit. The kid just don’t miss from deep. His ability to play off of stars would be pivitol on a winning team IMO. I’ve actually thought he’d be nice on the C’s learning behind Allen for a year or so.
