Top 10 player in the High School Class of 2012…ARCHIE GOODWIN….apparently does not like the green & yellow colors of Baylor

    http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/blog/the_dagger/post/Elite-recruit-eliminates-Baylor-because-he-doesn?urn=ncaab-wp4726

If Mikeyvthedon reads this….looks like Oregon is out of the runnings as well…not that ever were in the picture I don’t think.

I personally don’t mind the combonation of green and yellow…it’s not that bad….the shoes anyways.

As far as green and yellow combo uniforms…or uniforms in general….I personally think Oregon does a nice job with thier football and b-ball unies

They can get carried away sometimes, since they have so many combonations…but…for the most part they are straight

If Gooodwin went to Baylor though….WOW….they already have point guard LJ Rose and center Isaiah Austin as 2012 commits…that be a nice class….too bad it ain’t going to happen.

I highly doubt a player of Goodwin’s caliber would drop a school based on their school colors…

Baylor – “Coach Scott Drew is a great guy. I love Coach Drew. They were one of the first schools that were recruiting me. But I didn’t  like that they were an adidas team, but that’s not to say I wouldn’t go to Kansas because Kansas is a great team.  I can look over the adidas thing – I own some adidas stuff. [Goodwin played recent summers with the Arkansas Wings Elite team, which is sponsored by Nike] I didn’t like their colors, either. I don’t like green and gold. That’s ugly …. When you got ugly colors like that, you gotta be Nike. …. Baylor has some ugly shoes, too.”

“On top of that, the one assistant coach I did really know – Coach Morefield, he moved on to doing something in the NBA so once they lost him I didn’t feel too comfortable with any other assistants on their team.”

“And then, I don’t like it that they play a 2-3 zone. I would rather play man[-to-man defense] than zone because you don’t play zone in the NBA. It’s 95% man.”

They leave out the second part in the Yahoo article. I do not at all think this is the first case of brand loyalty playing a role in a persons choice. Plus, Archie at least says that if you are going to have those "ugly" colors, you have to be Nike. Oregon is Green and Yellow, different shades as well.

Also, due to Phil Knight being a U of O alum, starting the company with U of O legendary track coach Bill Bowerman, we do get some special privileges. Hey, could be worse and we could have Maryland’s uniforms from their former alumnus who started Under Armor. Archie never was really on our radar, as I suppose he has no connections in Oregon. We have a hard time getting major recruits from the East Coast. But, it does appear that he does indeed care about playing for a Nike program, if the program is not as established as say, Kansas.

One last note, is that while he may have not the colors, we have no idea what context he was saying this in. He could have been mildly kidding, his not liking the colors probably was not the biggest of reasons. That is sometimes the problem with the written word, it could be taken out of context. This is why someone would make an article talking about Archie dropping a school due to color scheme while leaving out the two paragraphs detailing the probably more significant reasons.
