Wow @ Kevin Durant. When did he start dribbling like that? He was busting LeBron’s ass. I know it’s a summer pickup game, but I’m impressed. That hesitation move he does combined with that change of pace he has is sickening. A 6′ 10" guy with a 7+ foot wingspan being able to do that and pull up in your face like that is depressing lol.

LeBron’s body (no homo) looks amazing though. He looks like he’s debulked lol and trimmed down a little. His athleticism looked like the old LeBron.

Durant did look nice off of the dribble. With that being said though, do you not think his wing span might actual help in his dribbling ability? The guy has a classic wing frame, like a skinnier version of Lamar Odom (not game of course, just talking height and long wingspan) and I feel like his arms would more than likely make it even easier to keep the ball low. His handle is impressive, those moves were sick and he has used it to his advantage in the NBA. I think the reason people were saying that it would never happen in the NBA (that he were given that much freedom) would be due to more physical and intense defense. Yeah, they were trying to stop him like normal, but there were no real big guys in the paint ready to knock him on his butt. But, I guess my question is, do you agree that his wing span mixed with the obvious agility he has at 6’10 probably gives him an advantage as a handler?

Now, they aren’t Lebron James, but I think Durant plays off the ball so well that we don’t get to see him in iso’s enough, and therefore see those handles. I’d like to see him be given more opportunities to break people off the dribble. 

I really, really want to see the Thunder against the Heat in a series while the two of them are both young and experienced enough to test each other. We were denied that with Kobe and Lebron unfortunately, but Durant and Lebron are both so young that they could develop a Bird-Magic rivalry if the Thunder ascend to the top of the West, and the Heat continue to make it out of the East.

Still, Durant has put up impressive performances against LeBron, it would make for a very interesting battle. They both looked amazing, and of course Durant has been killing it this summer. Still, they both showed areas of weakness during the play-offs, which they hopefully are working on improving.

For one, if they’re allowed to show the highlights, why arent they allowed to show the game

Second, techically none of the players are under contract, thats why they’re able to go ovserseas and stuff. So, technically, every single player is a free agent…therefore, it would be like broadcasting just a regular pick-up game…

Durant’s wingspan probably does help his dribble, but he’s still 6′ 10". Other than Lamar Odom, you don’t see very many 6′ 10" guys that can dribble like that.

LeBron has a lot of qualities that Durant will never have… I mean, LeBron’s body and athleticism… Durant will never have those. LeBron’s ball handling, court vision and passing ability… Durant will never have those either. Durant will never be the all-around player that LeBron is. However, I still think Durant has a chance to become the better player.

LeBron’s game has holes offensively. As special a talent as LeBron is, his style of play is somewhat flawed in my opinion. Like he was never taught to play the game the right way. He’s young age wise, but this is his 9th season in the league. I’ll be watching him closely this year to see if he’s improved his holes, but I really think he’s who he’s going to be. Durant is just scratching the surface on the type of offensive player he can become, which is scary. Similar to Dirk, I think Durant can develop into an undefendable offensive player… Except Durant will reach that level even sooner. I mean, no defender nor defense will be able to contain him. He’ll make his teammates better because of it (and I don’t mean by him always having to create for them and averaging seven assists). Except Durant will reach that level before Dirk did. Durant’s length and committment to defending will make him a more than respectable defender. And he’s also already a good rebounder at his position. And he doesn’t have to ever average 7 assists (especially dumb inflated ones)… He just has to see the floor and be able to read defenses/make the right passes.

Durant has the work ethic and he actually loves the game. He’s not in it to be famous or become a billionaire. He loves basketball. I think he can become the best player in the league very soon and he doesn’t have to be the all-around player that LeBron is to do that.

LeBron hasn’t shown much of a post game or any real go-to moves during his entire career. I’d like to see him get a little closer to the basket, but I think that’s a good shot. His footwork looked good and he looked comfortable shooting that shot. I mean, seeing something other than isolating for half of the shot clock and driving looks good to me when it comes to him.

Too much microscope on Lebron’s athleticism. The guy is a freak of athlete and is the most athletic +250lbs the league has ever seen. He has Karl Malone size, and if your not impress with the way he moves on the court, then I don’t know what will…I don’t think he’s lost any athletecism at all, but I will say he has lost some lateral quickness due to his size increase (he went from 240lbs his rookie year to currently playing around 255-260lbs). His vertical is the same to me, but may have lost a tiny bit of lateral quickness, but still an impressive specimen nonetheless.
