jjonzParticipantThere are 3 Elite PG’s in the League who are going into their prime or they are already in their prime. And 1 who should be Elite Next Year (RWestbrook)
CP3 PrimeTime
DWill PrimeTime
DRose 4th year in
RWestbrook 4th year in
1st Question: How can you win Chips when your point guard is the best player on your team?
You paint the picture of each of these pg’s and how they can win a chip in the next 5-7 years
2nd Question: When was the Last time a PG (The pg being the best player on their team) in their prime won a championship?

meirmeir13You can make the arguement that chauncy was the best player on his team when he was with the Pistons. I think it will be harder for CP3 to win a championchip out of all that you have mentioned. He in my opinion is the best player that you mention it just that he dominates the ball 94 percent of the time. Granted he has to with the type of team that he is surrounded with. But its hard for a team to win when everyone is just looking at one guy doing all.

surveParticipantto answer your 2nd question first…the answer that will probably jump out to everyone is Isiah or Magic. I would say that Magic was clearly the best player on his team that won it last…but its arguable that Billups was the best player on the Pistons championship squad.
How can you win when you best player is the PG?
in CP3’s case, its getting more scoring talent around him and a more balanced team overall. since he is the best pure point, he is great in transition, get him some athletes…and he is great at tempo control so get him some shooters. In his case its not hard, just bring on the talent.
DWill is the most balanced, he is between Rose and CP3. A better scorer than CP3 and a better playmaker than Rose. For him, I think Utah’s system was perfect for him. He needs good team oriented players around him and some good post guys that can keep his perimeter game and scoring wide open. I wouldve like to have seen him with Favors and Kanter. Now, I think he needs to be on a squad with some dominant post presence.
DRose is a scorer, so he needs good complimentary scorers around him. Good post up players and rebounders will help him…and although it may or may not be as effective, it sure as hell would be fun for him to have a dynamic SG beside him, one that can shoot and cause havoc in the open court. A younger J-Rich would be ideal but J-Rich of the present can help too but he would need a little more around him. I think his team is almost good enough as is…but he needs a solid big guard with some defense and shooting ability….I know, not very easy to find a GOOD one. There has been a lot of Mayo talk, but I think he needs to be better defensively and should be able to step over and give minutes at the point…and I dont think Mayo offers that. J.R. Smith is just too erratic. Marcus Thornton is primarily a scorer. Not many guys I can think of who are not already taken. Therefore, as good as the Bulls are, they are still a little ways away from a title if DRose doesnt get a really good backcourt mate.

surveParticipantto do it like Billups did it…with no great scorers (no one on the team avg 18ppg reg season) you need defense. having a 4x DPOY like Ben Wallace doesnt come around to often. it was a great system and a great defensive team with great offensive continuity and chemistry. What made it even tougher was that Billups is not a great playmaker like Magic or Isiah was.
So for a guy like DRose or Westbrook, he needs good offensive continuity because he is not a great playmaker either…unlike CP3 or DWill. The latter two are more adept at making their teammates better. Rose and Westbrook are great talents but they need to score (a lot) to be effective….neither, Magic, Isiah, or even Billups NEEDED to score to be truly effective. Rondo fits in this catagory but his LACK of scoring makes him more of a liability.

iguapops420ParticipantIt’s easiest when you have a big man who can get you buckets down the strecth in the fourth. It’s why Tony Parker was able to win Finals MVP. Guards dictate the game, but bigs win it. Get CP3 a guy Bogut,Bynum,Aldridge, or a player similar and his chances of winning increase dramatically IMO.

jjonzParticipantOk i’ll start with DRose also,
Currently constructed the Bulls will have a tough time getting back to the Finals. I don’t think they can sneak up on teams this year. I think if they can get KMartin from the Rockets that would be ideal.
Athletic PG’s need a combination of Slasher’s & catch & shoot guys. So with the addition of Kevin Martin & LDeng. the wing position would be set.
Now for post play Booz & Noah will have to stay healthy to get that 4-5 chemistry that chip winners have in order for the Bulls to get that 7th title.
I think Rose with the Help of one additional scorer has the team that can win in the next 3-5 years.
Lineup
Rose
KMartin
Deng
Booz
Noah
vets on the bench. One microwave/jett type of talent coming off the bench
