For some reason, I have been thinking about Kobe’s 81 point performance. Just out of bordem, I watched his highlights and I am not a Kobe fan boy but I respect his talent and I’m still thinking about that performance almost 6 years later. I mean it’s crazy when a player scores 50, even more crazy when they score when the score 60! But 81 is just a freak stat. And that goes for other impressive more recent stats like rebounding, assists, and etc. etc.

So with that introduction, I ask you all "What active NBA player(s) has the best chances of…."

    – Score 70 in a game?

    – Score 80 in a game?

    – Grab 30 rebounds in a game (other than Kevin Love)

    – Get 25 assists in a game (Last person J-Kidd in 96 against Utah)

    – Get 11 steals in game (Roy had 10 in a game in 2009)

    – Gets 13 blocks in a game (McGee had 12 in a game last season)

    – Hitting more than 12 3’s in a game

    – Hit 30 FTs in a game (28 is the record but the NBA calls a lot of touch fouls so 30 could be possible)

Just out of bordem and I kind of want to see some user answers. I know these stats are rare but anything is possible in the NBA.

Score 70 in a game? – Carmelo Anthony – Uptempo style of play and this guy really is an unstoppable player offensively.

    – Score 80 in a game? – Kevin Durant – The reason why I pick Durant here and not Melo is because Melo sometimes is satisified with what he has in certain games. If he scored 70, he’d be like aright, that was great. But Durant has that assassin mindset and may be the best scorer in the game. 80 could happen one day

    – Grab 30 rebounds in a game (other than Kevin Love) – Blake Griffin – Rebounds at a great rate and is very fast for his size. Those two abilities make him a great candidate to get 30 rebounds in a game IMO

    – Get 25 assists in a game (Last person J-Kidd in 96 against Utah) – Chris Paul – If CP3 ends up in NY or even just on a better team than the Hornets, he’ll have a field day and may be content with being a facilitator. 25 assists could happen but again, it has to be in an uptempo setting

    – Get 11 steals in game (Roy had 10 in a game in 2009) – Rajon Rondo – He’s a menace on defense and gets steals with ease. He could break this record in all honesty

    – Gets 13 blocks in a game (McGee had 12 in a game last season) – Jokhim Noah – I think he’s still learning the game and if they had a better defender at the 4, this would be easier. But still, his hustle and determination makes him get those blocks and it is possible

    – Hitting more than 12 3’s in a game – Danilo Gallinari – Hear me out, this guy is a stud shooter. The Nuggets are going to need him more if they lose players in Free Agency and if Gallo is on fire, he could get 12 threes with his size and that smooth jumper.

    – Hit 30 FTs in a game (28 is the record but the NBA calls a lot of touch fouls so 30 could be possible) – Dirk Nowitiski – I think Dirk is still going to play on a high level for a few more seasons and with all the respect he earned this season, I wouldnt be surprised to see a few extra free throws come his way.

Rose is a great candidate for that 30 FT question. He draws a lot of fouls easily

@Based-Out – pick Kobe, it’s all based on your opinion. I wouldn’t doubt Kobe at this point either haha

At first I was surprised no one put LeBron on their list to score 70 or more but then I though about it and he’s the kind of guy that would  rather go 50-12-10(or similar) than go for 70-5-3.

I have to agree with TOL-23. Lebron is too unselfish to score 60+ and on top of that, if Lebron is having a cold spell during a game he doesn’t really have a go-to move that he can rely to get him points.

i dont think lebron needs a "go-to move" to get points. the guy is a freak train when running the break, no one can stop him. when he is in a cold spell, all he needs to do is to drive and gets foul every time. however, lebron really lacks the killer instinct and aggression. we will see… it is more unlikely for him now to score 60+ since he is with wade and bosh in miami.

Also, yes durant has the ability to score that many points but his team is pretty loaded with talents now. Harden can score and westbrook can score.. i doubt durant will ever reach the 60 pts mark unless westbrook is not playing or something… if im right, i think durant’s highest scoring game is only 42 right now.. no where close to those 70 and 80 pts you guys are talking about..

So with that introduction, I ask you all "What active NBA player(s) has the best chances of…."

    – Score 70 in a game? Lebron James, people forget he has 9 50+ point games on his career.  He may never win a championship ( In my opinion I think he’ll still get at least 1) but the dude is the best scorer in the game.  Kevin Durant wouldn’t average 30 if he played with D-Wade

    – Score 80 in a game?- Lebron James…but I don’t think he’ll get over 65, but he’s got the best chance

    – Grab 30 rebounds in a game (other than Kevin Love)- Sans Kevin Love, I gotta go with Dwight Howard

    – Get 25 assists in a game (Last person J-Kidd in 96 against Utah) Rondo

    – Get 11 steals in game (Roy had 10 in a game in 2009) Chris Paul, hands down….I think he’s a quaruple double threat.  Healthy, he has great hands, speed and intuition in the passing lanes.

    – Gets 13 blocks in a game (McGee had 12 in a game last season) Dwight Howard…I can see him dropping that number on a bad team.

    – Hitting more than 12 3’s in a game…Going out on a limb, but Jimmer…the guy’s stroke WILL translate to the NBA, he may not ever drop 20 ppg for a season, but he could be a player that will heat up quick.

    – Hit 30 FTs in a game (28 is the record but the NBA calls a lot of touch fouls so 30 could be possible)- Dirk, I feel no one gets to the line better than he does in the NBA right now.
