Just heard about Kevin Durant scoring 66 points in the Rucker game.  He’s the best scorer in the game right now with his driving, athleticism and pure shooting.  He will get even better and is already the game’s best scorer in the league.  I am looking for KD to improve on other parts of his game and for the Thunder as a whole to improve.

I think the West will be wide open next year with the Mavs, Lakers, Thunder, and Grizzlies all having a great shot at winning the West.

I am picking Kevin Durant for the 2011-2012 MVP.  I think he is the best young player in the league and will score around 31 points a game with 7 rebounds and 3 assists a night.

I doubt Rose gets it again, the Magic probably won’t have enough wins for Howard to get it, and LeBron and Wade will cancel each other out.

I am predicting that LeBron will finish in 2nd place with Dwight Howard in 3rd place. Rose won’t get as many 1st place votes as last year but will still be on a lot of ballots.  I think that Kobe and Dirk (two older veterans) will do fairly well in the MVP race and will get some votes.  James Harden could wind up getting a 3rd place vote.

    1st Team

    G: Derrick Rose

    G: Dwayne Wade

    F: Kevin Durant

    F: LeBron James

    C: Dwight Howard

    2nd Team

    G: Kobe Bryant

    G: Chris Paul

    F: Carmelo Anthony

    F: Dirk Nowitzki

    C: Amare Stoudemire

    3rd Team

    G: Deron Williams

    G: Russell Westbrook

    F: Kevin Love

    F: Blake Griffin

    C: Andrew Bynum

    Other awards:

Defensive player of the year: Dwight Howard

6th Man of the year: OJ Mayo (kind of a homer pick, but if he gets 25-30 minutes a night off the bench and if he can play some point and if his shot returns I like this pick)

    Most improved: Marcin Gortat

Rookie of the Year: Derrick Williams

You are overreacting to a summer game, Marshon scored 48 the other day in a different league. He could win MVP, but not because he went off in summer league.

Also, MemphisMadness, please accept the damn fantasy football invite already

    My bold, if-there-is-a-season predictions:

    1. Jimmer Fredette averages 17 points per game and wins ROY over Irving, who averages about 14 points and 6 assists in about 30 minutes a night, while "kid gloves" are still on.
    2. The Boston Celtics do not make the playoffs. They struggle early, get hit with the injury bug, and fall into an abysmal tailspin in April and May.
    3. Blake Griffin wins the MVP.  He and Eric Gordon excel as…
    4. The Clippers win their first playoff series since ’06.
    5. Shelvin Mack becomes this year’s Landry Fields, as easily the most productive second rounder, and makes the All-Rookie team.
