In the Nba and in basketball in general is ignorance bliss? 4 year players even tho they might consistently get better rarely get taken in the lottery and are often time over passed for more "upside" picks. Every year some european player Coaches and GM arent familiar with gets taken high and turns out to be a bust. If marvin william started for UNC that year would he still of been a lottery pick or what about daniel orton? Players in the first year often times put up crazy stats til teams get a chance to scout them then there play levels off. Who do you guys predict to be that player or those players this year? Draft picks or current players? I see this occurring in the case of paul george.or may kyle witjer at kentucky…any thoughts?

A lot of times the reason why a 4-year NCAA player isn’t picked in the lottery is because even though a proven veteran they just aren’t that good, if they were they would have been drafted sooner.

The reason "upside" players get picked before 4 year players is because most lottery teams aren’t very good and are in a rebuilding process, in which they take someone who will be good down the road. Whereas higher picks are made by more succesful teams that just need to fill 1 or 2 holes, so they pick the more proven veterans.

Why don’t you name examples of these players(that got passed up by higher potential players) your talking about? instead of making blanket statements.

I was going to write an intelligent post…but then i got high…. If get some negatives i’ll know why.. because i got high..because i got high.

Sorry just read mcdunkin’s rodney white post and listened to afroman..anyways there are plenty of 4 year players who could have gone lottery but they always stay to long and their number drops…which is a sign of maxed out potential to gm, Plus if you were a gm and you had a young prospect who could become the next superstar and a four year player who could become the next role player who would you pick
