ilike.panochasParticipantMy favorite aspect of his game was his post-up game. He really knew how to use his size to his advantage and would absolutely man handle smaller PGs down the block. High basketball IQ, to go along with his skills, size and athleticism.

77 games, 770 minutes without an assist. I went to a Blazers career fair a couple of years ago, and Erik Spoelstra’s dad, John Spoelstra, said, and I quote, "Even a dead person could have somehow recorded an assist before Yinka did." He used to sell season tickets for the Nets, hence his Yinka reference when he was talking about the Nets futile ticket sales before he turned them around. He was actually a cool guy, good speaker. Still, Yinka played 1002 minutes and 110 games with a grand total of 4 assists.
To give some perspective of how truly awful this really is, in 88 minutes this season, Brian Scalabrine had 6 assists. In DeSagana Diop’s rookie year, he played 109 minutes and passed for 5 assists. Yinka, the 14th pick in the draft in 1994, also has one of the most interesting rookie year stat lines ever. 1 game, 3 minutes, 1 turnover, 2 fouls, 1 rebound, 1 shot, 1 airball. His futility is stuff of legends, and I do not know if there will ever be a player like Yinka Dare ever again in NBA history. He was supposedly a very nice guy, and he tragically passed away at supposedly 31 years old. Yinka, however, did not exactly know his true age. He said that as a boy in Africa, he would mark a tree every year on his birthday, and on one birthday, the tree had been chopped down. Could be an urban legend, but I like to think that it was true.

NJHooper95ParticipantPenny was great but he was not a true point guard. He was like a Brandon Roy or Joe Johnson. By that I mean he was a shooting guard with who had the handle and ability to play point guard. Penny never average more than 7.2 ast a game when he played with a young Shaq and dead eye shooters in Nick Anderson and Dennis Scott. He also had Horace Grant at the 4. At this time people thought Orlando would win at least 4 or 5 titles because of the talent they had. When Kidd was Drafted he stated that he thought he was a better assist man than Penny.

rileymcshea3ParticipantNJHooper your right about him not being a true point guard but he isnt like Brandon Roy or Joe Johson because Penny was way better at passing and dribbling but not as good at shooting .And its hard for a pg to average over 20 ppg and get that much assist for whoever your with just look at the only 2 pgs that averaged over 20 this year D-Rose and Russel Westbrook .D-Rose averaged only 7.7 assist on the team with the most wins this year.Russel Westbrook only averaged 8.2 and he has Kevin Durant on his team and thats only 1 assist more then Pennys with Shaq . And you cant say well there still young because Penny was young at the time also . And just to prove my point on how hard it is to score 20 and still get alot of assist only 8 people have averaged over 20ppg and over 10 apg.
" When Kidd was Drafted he stated that he thought he was a better assist man than Penny"
Hey NJHooper95, Jason Kidd has the second most assist of all time so yeah Jason Kidd is a better assist man then alot of people

cabbycabParticipantHe didn’t average the most assists, but at least every other game, he made a ridiculous one handed behind the head pass to Shaq out of nowhere. He also had some of the best spin moves.
