Tobe BryantParticipantGet to know the Kid…Dominique Jones…combo guard with a bright future in the NBA! Strong, great penetrator. Mavs got a steal in this kid, now they’re just letting their investment grow, depends on the lockout though.

ilike.panochasParticipantAs talented a scorer as Jones is, I dont think Dallas is the right fit for his skill set. He is a guy that thrives with the ball in his hands and attacking, Dallas already has enough players that needs the ball (Terry, Nowitzki, Barea, Rodrique Barbouis, Marion). He will have to learn how to score without the ball (much like James Harden has shown to score), but I highly doubt he does because Jones has an inconsistent jumpshot. His future may not be with Dallas but somewhere else, if he is to get his minutes.

rileymcshea3ParticipantI am from Dallas and big Mavs fan this guy will be good he looked pretty good in the summer league and coach Carlisle must be confident about him because in the preseason he benched Stevenson and started Jones because he said they needed more offense in the first unit

BigDParticipantOnly one problem for Jones next season, they brought in Rudy Fernandez to replace Stevenson. And Fernandez is a level above Jones at this point

ilike.panochasParticipantPlus Fernandez fits the offense better than Jones does, because Fernandez is a capable shooter and can score off the ball, which goes back to my previous point. I like Jones a lot, he reminds a bit of Rodney Stuckey, I just dont see him getting opportunities in Dallas tho.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantJones must work on his play making skills..If he wants to get meaningful minutes with the Mavs…He has the talent to be a decent player..

khaled_a_dParticipantI am a Mavs fan,but honestly I don’t like Jones that much
he is strong, hard worker and he can create his won shoot
the problem is:he can’t finish, his body is too strong for a Guard IMHO,he lack quickness and athleticism ,rarely dunks, and can’t finish around the basket and is blocked easily, and with no Jump shot,he simply can’t score at this level
he need to lose some wait so that he can jump better and be little quicker ,and work on his jump shooting ,which can turn him into a really good player
he has a good play making abilities ,but again he is not quick enough to be a full time PG0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/15/2011 - 2:18am #571531

aamir543ParticipantI am a Warriors fan, and we love Jeremy Lin!!!!
Every time he gets up to go to the scorers table, the whole arena goes into applause.
I was at a game where he crossed Rondey Stucky I believe, and mad the layup, that place was probably louder than was in Miami during the Finals.

river09Participanti loved watching dominique jones at usf, the guy is a downright special scorer… incredible strength/ability to finish/handle… he may be out of his place on the mavs but he is young and will develop.. i don’t think you should write him off so quick just because he didn’t get much time as a rookie and that rudy fernandez is coming in… the mavs were a veteran team that depended solely on sound consumate playmaking and teamwork from extremely experienced players lol how does a rookie fit in there… and he has to have gotten an extremely good education on how to play, compete and work from true professionals like jason terry, jason kidd, shawn marion, oh and dirk too i guess… I think just watching/playing with them in practice is quite the education for a rookie… and that is an aging team… some young players will have to start and step up.. kidd is retiring… jj barea is up for free agency i believe.. terry is hardly a young gun… deshawn stevenson can only shoot and talk… in time he’ll get his playing time and show what he’s about and personally i think he’ll be dang good….

OhCanada-ParticipantHes got a good amount of talent, but dont forget Summer League makes guys like Sonyn Weems look like Andre Igoudala. Dominique Jones reminds of Fred Jones I dont see much upside.

doubledribblerParticipantI think if he really works on his game that he might be in better shape then most people think. He’s in a good situation. I’m sure it’s hard not playing, but he has an all time great at point guard and a great scorer in Terry and solid veteran in Barea to learn behind. There is always a chance that Rudy does not come back after his contract is up and this is his final year, plus who knows how many years Kidd will play and what changes the Mavs make in the future. Going forward they are going to have to make some choices because they are stock piling a lot of young guards when you consider Calathes and Kopponen being overseas, just brought over Rudy who may or may not stay, Barea is a free agent, and Beaubois is someone they are really high on.
