What does Shabazz Muhammad do that warrants comparisions to Kobe? I been hearing a whole lotta rumbling about it. Someone give me some details…

he really reminds of James Harden in every sence…his ball handling and jump shot form is exactly like hardins..

Its hard to compare players to koby….does Shabazz have the tools to play like Kobe..the answer i would say is yes but will play like kobe is the bigger as most people dont (example – a young JR Smith has the skills to be as good as kobe but in reallity is not because not everyone reaches full potential)

    thats my 2 cents

He is an extremely HARD worker and truely wants to be the best.  This sets him apart from alot of great players in his class and beyond.  He has noticeable gotten stronger over the course of his junior year and his jumpshot went from good to great.  Defitenly capable of creating good shots for himself.  His dribble pull up jump shot from 20 feet is MONEY.  You can see how his game will translate well at the next level.  He does need to work on creating for his teamates better however.  He is NO Kobe Bryant right now….but as far as how they both were in High School, they both show they have that "IT" factor when they play.

Here is a great Shabazz mix and this Kobe Bryant highlight…IMO…might be his best high school game.

Kobe was a better athlete and had a quicker first step coming out of high school. James Harden is a fair comparison, both are crafty skilled guard, strong body, and athletic.

Can Shabazz Muhammad dribble and score with his right hand? In most of his clips it looks like he just uses his left hand or is on the left side of the court. If teams force him to use his right more, they may find his achilles heel.

I think he can definitely work on this and with his great athleticism combined with his shooting ability, I think he could come close to Kobe’s level, but it’s to early to call a high schooler a future 5 time NBA Champion, 13 time All Star, MVP, and olympic gold medalist. Those are big shoes to fill. Kobe is top 5 all time in my books and could be top 3 by the end if he can get 1 more ring.

The thing that seperates Kobe from Shabazz is that Kobe didnt even look like he was trying that hard and was still just absolutely dominating the game and when i mean Kobe didnt even look like he was trying that hard because it looks like he was playing at a playground with a bunch of little kids. And the thing that really seperates them 2 is Kobe developed a killer midrange game and probably the best midrang game of all time .Now lets see Shabazz do that

Not sure about the better athlete part. Just liek Kobe was Shabazz is a elite athlete hat bangs on anyone and is very quick(Stackhouse type first step). His comparision is from the fact that he works very hard on his game and has that “it” factor that someone abovementioned on top of being very skilled, having a elite post game for a guard, and putting in the same amount of effort on defense that he does offense. Alos the fact that he always out plays his opponent. (more like dominates)

You cant go around comparing players who show great potential in highschool to Kobe all the time.

People were doing the same thing with OJ Mayo. I feel OJ was a much more dominant high school player than shabbazz and he isnt panning out anywhere near kobe. the reason is that there have only ever been two shooting guards at that level and thats kobe and jordan. Honestly I don’t even see that level in this kids potential. He doesnt seem to be blessed with that kind of super athleticism.  I see him having a brandon roy ceiling. I like the james harden comparison a lot though

You might wanna see some of his games first then decide about the athletic part( his highlights don’t do him justice because in most of them he’s not even jumping as high as he could).

Mayo’s problem is he reles too much on his jumper and regressed on the defensive end in year two(effort). The different between Shabazz and Mayo is Shabazz can also dominate guards on the post and he mix’s up driving and jumpers. He’s MUCH better than Harden at the same stage, its actually not even close. Another reason he is compared is that he has been dominating since he first entered H.S and has only goten better. No one knows how good Shabazz will end up but he gets compared to obe and Wade because thats how high his ceiling is( and the comparision’s are comign from guys who have watched him for years). He is labeled a elite athlete for a reason, if you can check out one of his games if he’s in you’re area and you will see what everyone is talking about when they say elite athlete

I watched the 2012 class verse 2011 and shabazz went off either hand, rebounding,on  defense, getting to the rim with much ease, there wasnt a player in the 2011 class that could stick him the team had a hard time trying to stop contain him. I dont think hes going to be just like kobe but he has the upside to be on if not  the next great sg in the league thats where I think the kobe comparison comes in.
