If you have something to say, say it. I would love for someone who is educated on the topic to say something about "PED’s" (Performance Enhancing Drugs). The fact is, strength and conditioning has changed drastically in the past 20 years. Kevin McHale said something I think is fairly relevant in that, "Players now work out a lot more, but players back than played more basketball". Now, it is just as much about strength and conditioning as it is about playing basketball. Players back than are not as strong and fast as they are now, but you could argue that they were more fundamentally sound, which came from increased repetition. So, have something to say other than "hmmmmmm"?

While I am sure some players are using some sort of PEDs, the majority of the size/bulk difference is definently due to the gym time these players put in nowadays.  Strength was never looked upon in the NBA in the same light as it is today.

Another thing, knowledge of proper nutrition and working out also has increased the physical size of these players.

can’t say anything more then hmmmm because basketball has not been linked to peds like baseball.  but it sure is interesting that basketball players bodies changed due to proper nutrition and working out at the same time that baseball players bodies changed due to peds.

Weight training wasnt emphasized in those days. You had a few players who lived in the Gym like Malone, LJ,Mourning, Mason and Oakley and you noticed it. But for the most part NBA,College, and High School players in the early 80’s and 90’s did not focus on power and size.

But now starting at the High School level guys are living in the gym, getting bigger, faster, and stronger. You still have guys in the league today when I look at the combine test that cant lift 185 one time and wont touch a weight. Back in the day most guys were like that. Times have changed.

Baseball players also have gotten bigger due to working out and nutrition.  Its not like everyone is on PEDS or people are making out baseball players all to be PED users.

Players today work out in the gyn to stay in shape, back then they played basketball to stay in shape.

Which is why players today are much faser and athlectically gifted, but players back then were way more skilled and had a higher basketball IQ than players of today.
