What do you guys think about the increase of local high school basketball players moving away from home and going to a prep school, say Findlay Prep or a prep school away from home? I ask this because recently in the Bay Area two local high school superstars have left their high schools and moved on to Findlay Prep in Henderson, NV to better prep themselves for the next level. However they are receiving a lot of scrutiny for it because they are leaving their high school teams behind (sell outs)…and many people are saying Findlay isnt even a "real school." I for one do not have a problem with it because they are just trying to best prepare them for the next level. What do you guys think?

I agree with you, they should be able to leave their public hs if they want to because all they want to do is get better at basketball and if they are playing against bad competition in the public school that might be the only way to get better. They should not be worried about leaving the public school because of sell outs, although I would be disappointed as a fan. After all it is just hs basketball and should not really be that big of a desision for them.

Yeah, they should be able to leave their public Hs to go play against better competition.

I live in the Bay Area, and I go to a public High School in the Bay Area, which is renowned for its academics. But the triple A, the name of the league or division we play in, is incredibly weak. I narrowly missed the team last year, but our team only lost twice against other public schools, and that to the same team, but it was average when it went to the east bay, or other parts of the Bay Area.

At our school, one of our best Freshman is moving to North Carolina. I don’t know exactly why, but we know it has to do with playing against better competition. Another guy is thinking off going to a parochial school. Most of the best players in the city either go to parachial schools, or they go to lowell, the school Im at.(That’s mainly the Asians whose parents make them go to an academic school, since our school is like 70% asian.)

It’s thier lives..If it’s going to get them prepared for college and the next level of athletics what’s the problem? We are talking about High school…alot of players don’t even get the recongintion because thier high school is too small. Oak Hill Academy has put a ton of players in the NBA, if that’s your dream why would you not want to be coach by the best??

Players in hs shouldn’t worry about being called sellouts in hs, people usually hate their high school anyway(I did, thats why i graduated early). There are thousands of hs in america and alot of players are gonna be overlooked, so its in their best interest to move to school that get more attention. This is not the nba or ncaa where you commit to the school, your basically assigned to it.
