ag-pennypackerParticipantGetting a lot of love from the site. 100 overall rating and #1 selection for 2013 mock draft. Is there a chance he could challenge Drummond for 2013 #1 if Drummond decideds to not enter in 2012 or does Drummond have too many physical gifts?

LazarusMunozParticipantMuhammad had a big game(39 points) yesterday at Adidas Invitational rallying his team from 10 points down against Indiana Elite. A team that features two five stars in Yogi Farrell(who i think is the best point guard in 2012 class) and Hanner Parea and a four star in Jeremy Howell…
Shabazz is gonna be really really special

mikeyvthedonParticipantIt might be REALLY hard too pass on someone of Drummond’s stature, as he could project too being a very good or great Center in a league with incredibly few. However, there is of course the concerns over his desire to be the best and that he sometimes floats through games. Will he ever put everything together? Meanwhile, with Shabazz, if you believe he could indeed be a 2 guard you could build a team around, or one just below the level of a Wade or a Kobe Bryant, it might be really hard to pass that up.
I am guessing the Blazers believed Durant might struggle more physically than he has, and that Greg Oden (who they obviously figured would be healthy) could be in a defensive anchor and match-up problem in a league short on talented Centers. However, at the end of the day, it all comes down to winning, and who you could build a winning team around. It will come down too team need more than likely, and I am sure that both of there college production could play a part. At this point, there is a reason many sights have been ranking Shabazz Muhammad first overall, and that is because they think that he is a special talent. In a class where it is clearly looking too come down to these two guys, I could see them fighting for the top spot all the way up too the draft, barring Andre entering earlier.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantI’ve been saying for almost a year now that Muhammed is the best player in his class and if he continues to improve and not rest on his laurels should be the best player available in 2013. Now whether or not he goes #1 is another matter entirely. Durant was the BPA in 2007 but many teams operate on the principle that you don’t pass up on a franchise center and Oden went #1. Drummond, Austin and McGary (just measured at 6-11 and 258 lbs at Amare’s skills camp) all look like legit big men and that might make Muhammed go a tad lower than he should.
Lets not forget that this is the same league where Michael Olowakandi and Reaf Lafrentz were taken ahead of Vince Carter.

ag-pennypackerParticipantThe does seem to be the case. If there is a big man available that looks good he goes off the board first. I really can’t fault the Blazers on the Oden pick though. He was a two time winner of the national player award in high school and he manhandled both Al Horford and Joakim Noah in that NCAA finals game by himself with basically only his left hand because he had that wrist injury. I would have taken Oden as well over Durant, but I would say the one thing that struck me about Oden was he seemed to have a great mental make up as well. Drummond from what I’ve read doesn’t really have a competitive makeup and that goes a long way with bigmen because usually they need to improve a lot over their first few years in the league to compete. How many big men do you know that are top pros and don’t bust their ass. Even headcases like Zach Randolph atleast bring a lot of energy when they are on the court.

cward23Participant^^ i’m with you DH This kid is the truth and should pass Drummond who is very inconsistant and rarely dominates.
He deserves the number one ranking and this time its legit( alot of times services change the rankings to get more readers, common practice)

thparadoxParticipantOden and Durant were pretty even in terms of BPA value. The rareness of centers rightfully gave Oden the slight edge.
If it works like that for Drummond and Shabazz, I expect Drummond to go first. However, we’ll have to see how intense Drummond is on the defensive end… I think that will be very important in determining his value.

hoopscopParticipantYes, Drummond has unbelievable natural tools and great length but more often than not he cant produce. Obviously he lacks in motor and heart and for a big these are the substantial tools. Yes, guard play is often nonexistent in AAU but all the great big men the last 25 years destroyed their competition on this level like Ewing, Zo, Shaq, Howard, Stat or Kemp. That is not the case with Drummond. Shabazz is skill wise not there yet but he gets better all the time and he destroys the competition. Look, Shabazz will be great, the best 2 guard in the game. Never ever would I draft someone who lacks the competitive fire ahead of him.

xbadgerhustlerParticipantI am praying so hard that the Wolves keep stinking till the 2013 draft. Muhammad is the perfect piece to the puzzle for the wolves.

TheFactionCoalition.comParticipantYou Minny fans better hope Kahn is gone, because he is exactly the type of GM to draft someone else, or trade the pick because the player is overrated. . .I.m all about taking risks, but he doesn.t take risks he makes mistakes

cward23ParticipantSpeaking of Kahn if im not mistaken he has made many more good decisions than he has bad one’s. Other then point guard gate what else has he done that was wrong?
He traded the rights to mayo for Love
He traded a second round pick for Beasley
He didn’t give much for Darko and Randolph and both produced while with the T-pups0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/07/2011 - 12:17pm #565244

xbadgerhustlerParticipant* 2 second round picks for Beasley.
I still don’t think he got a great deal for Al Jefferson. I guess maybe I’m not giving him enough credit for shedding all that salary, but it could end up that all he got for Al was the 20th pick in the most recent draft, cash (We’ll see if we ever end up getting Utah’s first rounder, otherwise it will turn to cash) and kosta Koufous (as well as the aforementioned salary relief). .
Sorry, but I feel like he could’ve gotten more.
I don’t think that Wes Johnson was the right pick, especially with hindsight knowing we got Beasley. DMC still seems like the better pick, IMO. even with his character issues.
And also…while PG gate seemed awful, in the end he was able to get something for flynn, and rubio did come over, so in hindsight it doesn;’t look horrible. we’ll have to see if rubio is the real deal…

cward23ParticipantHow often do you get equal value for a player like Al Jefferson?
And many other Gm’s would have picked WEs Johnson as well (he was high on alot of teams draft boards)He hasn’t done worst then most GM’ and he has actually done alot better than most of them

xbadgerhustlerParticipantagreed. he’s done a good job on paper, which is all a GM can really do.
I think Rambis was a bad choice. Hopefully he can do better with his next decision. I’m not really a fan of the potential candidates i’m hearing. I want adelman.

cward23ParticipantAs far as Rambis he basically did what most teams do or try to do, hire a assitant from a championship team in hopes that the head coach’s smarts has rubbed off on the assistant. You noticed how indemand assistant’s from title teams get in every sport after the team wins the title?
