Knicksboy3ParticipantI was ranting about this on twitter (twitter.com/quentin_esquire) about EA sports and NBA Elite. This will be a long post.
Last year, I was going to get NBA Elite, but it didn’t come out due to issues and now I’m thinking about what it should do to get better. But first, I want to say this, NBA2K11 was slightly overrated. Without the MJ Challenge, I don’t know if it’s any more different than 2k10. It’s gameplay is great, but it’s blah to me. My player is cool as well, it’s more for hardcore gamers as well. Here’s my ideas for the NBA Elite (besides smoother gameplay of course)
1. Include NCAA Basketball with it for a longer my player mode.
– Your a fan of UCLA? Well, how about playing a 4 year career at UCLA, and then going to the pros? With that, you can play maybe 5-10 high school games, then begin your recruitment. You start with basic teams, but as your play gets better, you get recruited by schools like Duke, North Carolina among other schools. Then you can play for playing time. You don’t get the playing time you want? Transfer and practice at local parks and even pick a school and train with that team. Eventually, go from a freshman on campus, to your senior night and them some. Next level? Maybe. Overseas? Sure.
2. Next to NBDL….Overseas?
– I love playing NHL 11, mainly because you can grab oversea players. Say you aren’t ready for the pros? How about some offers from Egypt, China, Europe, Africa or even Australia?
3. One disc, downloadable content all the time
– You know how Call Of Duty, among other games have downloadable content every couple months? Well, what if NBA Elite dropped a disc once every 2-3 years, then just give downloadable content every couple months? I’m not a genius, but I’m sure it costs a lot for the distribution of disks, the cases to place it in and all that stuff. Instead of we have to make a new disc, how about more new update, more downloadable content and less money to do that? Again, I’m not into the pricing of that, as well as the development of those things, so I don’t know the prices and such.
4. NCAA player names?
– This one is tough, but here’s my thought:
If the NCAA starts playing players, could EA Sports offer money for the rights to player names? Here’s 3 million dollars to the ACC, we have the right to all players names for NCAA games (football and basketball)? You think some of these schools wouldn’t take the extra money? I know, it seems a little farfetched, but that’s my “over the top thought”.
Let me know your thoughts and such. Thank you.

ilike.panochasParticipantHere’s an idea, stop making them. Seriously, the last good NBA game by EA Sports was NBA LIve 98. That’s just sad on their part.

ghrghrParticipantThey want to make money, thats why they don’t release a game every 2-3 years.
If they sell NBA and NCAA in one game they have to pay 2 licenses to sell one game, which will cost the same as every other game.
As for overseas leagues they can do half-ass leagues with no official teams and players for close to no money. If they were to buy the rights to the teams it would be quite expensive.

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantI just want an NCAA game. I kind of want EA Sports to come out with an NBA game to keep 2K on their toes and innovative, but I really don’t think they’ll offer much competition.

Knicksboy3ParticipantWord, Live 2000, Live 03 and even Live 07 was alright. To say after 98 was trash is crazy.
Also, NCAA Basketball 10 is like, sold out in alot of areas. Even though it’s a niche game, it sells.

Lotto StudParticipantIsn’t EA sitting on the exclusive rights to NCAA bball games? If so this is a TRAGEDY, if they won’t come out with a NBA game I sure enough no they won’t shelf out a NCAA game.

aamir543ParticipantIts all about the money. Combining two games into one would just decrease profit. You see madden come out with a seperate caoch mode game, and last year 2k came out with a seperate scouting game or somthing, or somthing very similar to My Player. I would love the idea, but no way in hell do they do that.

aamir543ParticipantAs for player names, maybe they can spell the names wrong, and just say some bs like the names were chosen by random.

Knicksboy3ParticipantBut if you charge 100$ for the double disc, you’d be alright.

aamir543ParticipantBut, if you charge 60 for the seperate disc, you got more profit, even if the single disc isn’t as advertised and popular, you give your self better odds at making a profit.
Good idea nonetheless.
