Historic NBA Draft Busts: Where Are They Now?

Michael Olowokandi
Drafted: No. 1 overall in 1998 by the Los Angeles Clippers
Career: Played for three teams from 1998 to 2007. Had a career scoring average of 8.3 ppg.
Today: Today Olowokandi is very active with charity work, including the Michael Olowokandi Foundation, which provides counseling and emotional support to NBA general managers who draft terrible basketball players.
LaRue Martin
Drafted: No. 1 overall in 1972 by the Portland Trail Blazers, ahead of Julius Irving and Bob McAdoo.
Career: Averaged 5.4 ppg in four seasons and Portland won its lone NBA title the year after he left.
Today: Since retiring in 1976, Martin has primarily been employed in lists of the NBA’s all-time draft busts.
Adam Morrison
Drafted: No. 3 overall in 2006 by the Charlotte Bobcats.
Career: Averaged 7.5 ppg over three full seasons in addition to playing terrible defense. He fell out of the NBA after the 2010 season.
Today: Look out your window in your bushes. The creepy-looking perv is probably there.
Kwame Brown
Drafted: No. 1 overall in 2001 by the Washington Wizards.
Career: Has played for five NBA teams over 10 seasons, with averages of 6.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for his career. The 2010-2011 season was one of the best of his career as he averaged 7.9 points and 6.8 boards with the Charlotte Bobcats.
Today: Wait, what? Seriously? No way. According to that last sentence, Kwame Brown is still in the NBA. Huh. The NBA really should consider contraction to get rid of some of its dead weight.
Greg Oden
Drafted: No. 1 overall in 2007 by the Portland Trail Blazers.
Career: Oden has played only parts of two seasons over his four years in the NBA due to frequent injuries and surgeries.
Today: He is in Room 432. I think we was napping the last time a nurse went by his room. Please remember that visiting hours are over at 7:30 p.m.
Shawn Bradley
Drafted: No. 2 overall in 1993 by the Philadelphia 76ers.
Career: Bradley players 14 seasons for three NBA teams and averaged 8.1 ppg.
Today: Bradley is now involved in Utah politics. In fact, he ran for Congress as a Republican in 2010. However, he lost the election after his 5-foot-6 opponent dunked on him in the final debate.
Enes Kanter
Drafted: Early in the 1st Round of the 2011 NBA Draft.
Career: Exactly the same as Darko Milicic’s career, only Turkish.
Today: Today Enes Kanter is sitting somewhere, completely unaware that he will become a historic draft bust.
